AUGUST 1st 2016: Confirmation of God’s Divine Law

Pannuches Meal Rite
The 102nd Pannuches Meal Rite was held Saturday, July 2, 2016 at 6:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Holy Child. This is a private ceremony for members of the Order. Jubilee Sunrise Divine Service was held in Sanctuary the following morning. The Jubilee Sunday is a day of fasting. The elderly are exempt from fasting on that day if they choose.

Active Principle of Divine Law Observed (August 1)
On the morning of Monday, August 1, 2016, in recognition of the thirty-fourth observance of the Manifestation of the New Light of God, which appeared over the sun on this date thirty-four years before to confirm the Active Principle of Divine Law, The Right Reverend Gene Savoy Jr. officiated a special sunrise Divine Service at the Church of New Pentecost with concelebrant Reverend Canon Robert Petrovich and assisted by canons Roger Weld and Ted Staver and the Reverend Mother Carol Ann Crabb.

God’s Confirmation of the Active Principles of Divine Law first occurred on August 1, 1982. That event is recorded in Second Advent Scripture in The Book of God’s Revelation with commentary relating the event to the revelation received by the Church on April 18th, Easter in the Second Advent Calendar, and the further revelations received on June 6th, the Day of Pentecost.

Among the Revelations received on June 6th, 1982, the Church received instruction on the New Act of God, God’s conception of the Newly Created Light, a New Light that renovates the whole of creation. The Church also received instruction on the Four Newly Created Intermediary Lights that manifest through this conception.

Scripture tells us that through the manifestation of these Four Intermediary Lights, God has fixed the Four Newly Created Tables of the Law to be taught to the Ordained in the Holy Institutions of Learning; and, so that the unwritten Code of the Law may be codified on earth for the emancipation of the human race, God has decreed Twelve newly created Active Principles of Divine Law of Hid New Covenant, which are subordinate to the Lights of God and to the Tables of the Law, yet are instruments of the Divine Plan for human redemption.

With the revelation given on June 6th, God decreed these Twelve Active Principles to be in force upon confirmation. And on the first day of August in 1982, “The New Light of God appeared over the face of the sun, confirming the Active Principles of Divine Law.” The event of confirmation that on this date is the purpose of the special commemoration each year.

The final paragraph of The Book of God’s Revelation describes that event:

And on the first day of August, it being the eighth Sunday following the giving of the Revelation at Pentecost on the sixth day of June, the New Light of God appeared over the face of the sun, confirming the Active Principle of Divine Law. And the whole congregation, gathered at sunrise, saw and felt the gift of the Spirit manifest out of the sun.

The Church has observed this date since 1982 in a variety of liturgical forms. At the Divine Service performed on August 1, 1987, a new composition titled “The New Light of Divine Law” was introduced to the liturgical music usually accompanying Divine Service. The piece commemorates the confirmation of the Active Principle of Divine Law.

The religious tradition and astronomical calendric attached to this date are significant. First Dispensation churches know August 1 as Lammas Day or the Day of the Loaf Mass. The date was celebrated by Christians in England, where the first bread of the harvest was taken to mass for blessing. The Christian feast has even earlier roots in the Celtic Lugnasaid, which hailed the beginning of the wheat harvest.

August 1 marks the beginning of the calendric period known as the “dog days.” The period is named for the Dog Star, Sirius. The span of time between late July and mid-August is an astronomical period when Sirius rises each morning with the sun. For the ancient Egyptians, August 1 was a calendric marking for the rising of the Nile and was celebrated by an important religious feast. This date also held significance for other ancient solar cultures.

The Sacred Calendar of the Second Advent Church also holds August 1 as a significant date. When counting from February 2, Second Advent New Year’s Day, the semiannual cycle, or 180-degree cycle of the earth around the sun, falls on August 1.

July 30, 2016: Chapel Readings

2016-PUL-2016-06-11.SeanSavoy

Each week of the liturgical year, a reading from Second Advent Scripture is delivered as part of the Saturday Communion of Fellowship Service held in the Chapel of the Holy Child. This reading follows the Sacred Calendar of the Church; that is, Prophecies and Revelations that have been received by The Church on sacred dates are recalled in a liturgical context during the appropriate season each year. This reading is delivered by the Officiant of the Communion Service (that is, Bishop Gene Savoy, or occasionally in his stead, Bishop Sean Savoy) just before the final blessings. Each service also includes a reading from the ancient scriptures, prayers, or wisdom sayings of various world religions past and present and is usually thematically related to the Second Advent Reading. This reading is delivered by the Reader right after the announcements that begin the service and is thus the first reading of the service. An audio recording of the reading from Second Advent Scripture delivered on the date above is provided here below together with a transcript of the first reading of the service that day.

SECOND ADVENT PROPHECY AND REVELATION

Readings from the Book of God’s Revelation, “The Seal of God’s New Law” (pp. 145-157)

ANCIENT SCRIPTURE AND WISDOM SAYINGS

A Reading from the Gospel of Thomas (61, 62, 68, 73, 79):

(61)…Jesus said…I am the one who comes from what is whole. I was given from the things of my father….I say, if you are whole, you will be filled with light, but if divided, you will be filled with darkness.

(62) Jesus said, I disclose my mysteries to those who are worthy of my mysteries. Do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing. (67) One who knows all but lacks within is totally lacking.

(68) Blessings on you when you are hated and persecuted, and no place will be found, wherever you are persecuted. (69) Jesus said, Blessings on you who have been persecuted in your hearts. Only you truly know the father….(70)…If you bring forth what is within you, what you have will save you. If you have nothing within you, what you do not have within you will kill you.

(73) Jesus said, the harvest is large but the workers are few….(75)…There are many standing at the door but those who are alone will enter the wedding chamber. (76)…The father’s kingdom is like a merchant who owned a supply of merchandise and found a pearl. The merchant was prudent. He sold his goods and bought the single pearl for himself. So with you. Seek (the) treasure that is unfailing end enduring, where no moth comes to devour and no worm destroys.

(79) A woman … said to him, blessings on the womb that bore you and the breasts that fed you. He said to her, Blessings on those who have heard the word of the father and have truly kept it. (81)… Let a person of wealth rule, and a person of power renounce it. (82)…Whoever is near me is near fire, and whoever is far from me is far from the kingdom.

“The Rhythm of Cycles”

2016-REP-cyclesOfGalaxiesStars

“The great Fifth Hermetic Principle—the Principle of Rhythm—embodies the truth that in everything there is manifested a measured motion; a to-and-from movement; a flow and inflow; … a pendulum-like movement; … There is always an action and reaction; an advance and a retreat; a rising and a sinking; manifested in all of the airs and phenomena of the Universe. Suns, worlds, animals plants, … mind and matter, yes, even Spirit, manifests this principle. This principle manifests in the creation and destruction of worlds; in the rise and fall of nations; in the history of all things; and finally in the mental states of Man.” ~Three Initiates

The Need for Cycles

“So many people misunderstand the principles of cycles and much of our difficulties are caused by our failure to recognize this principle. In order to breath, you must inhale and then exhale and repeat that cycle over and over. You can’t just breath in constantly because your lungs can’t hold all that air. Even if they could, the exhale serves more than to release the used air from which most of the oxygen has been removed, The exhale is a cleansing thing that helps remove certain toxins from the body.

“Back when electricity was being developed as a power source, Thomas Edison favored direct current which flows in one direction only. Tesla favored alternate current which moves in both directions in cycles. While direct current is easy to use (think batteries) its major problem is that it can’t travel far. If we had followed Edison’s plan, we would have direct current generators every few blocks supplying just a small area. Tesla say that alternating current could be used over much greater distances and it is the method we adopted.”

“Fantasy, Egotism, and Their Effect on Spiritual Growth”

2016-REP-ego2

“The Lord dwells in the souls of the humble; but shameful passions fill the hearts of the proud. Nothing so strengthens these passions against us as arrogant thoughts, and nothing uproots the evil herbs of the soul so effectively as blessed humility. Hence humility is rightly called the executioner of passions. Let your soul be free of evil fantasies and illuminated with thoughts of what is truly noble. Remember constantly the saying, ‘a self-indulgent heart becomes a prison and a chain for the soul when it leaves this life; whereas an assiduous heart is an open door.’ Truly, when pure souls leave the body they are guided by angels who lead them to the life of blessedness. But unclean and unrepentant souls will be taken in charge by the demons.” ~The Philokalia

Humility VS Egotism

“It seems today that a majority of people have embraces a world where the bigger your ego and the more grandiose your passions, the better person you are. Such people become celebrities, business leaders, and even run for president. Then we wonder how we ended up with a world where the one percent owns almost everything and the rest of us are, to all practical purposes, their slaves.

“On the other hand, there are those spiritual teachers and spiritual schools that not only say that humility is better than egotism, but that the ego must be utterly destroyed if we are to make any spiritual progress at all. A few years ago, a friend suggested I read the books of a currently very popular writer on the subject of being spiritual. I got about a third of the way through his book and gave up. He seemed to be saying only one thing on every page, but with slightly different words: the ego is completely evil and must be totally eliminated.

“The truth is somewhere between those extremes, but leaning more toward humility, at least if you want to get serious about developing your spiritual faculties. We don’t want to destroy ego because it gives us drive, it gives us the desire to accomplish things. Rather than destroying the ego, it needs to be controlled and governed by an awakened and developed spirit and soul. If you visit certain parts of the world, you can find many people with a great deal of humility, but because they have virtually destroyed their egos, they accomplish nothing, and have no desire to accomplish anything, including saving their own souls. Obviously, that is not the best way to do it. Develop humility, but don’t destroy the ego in the process, just keep it in check. Don’t let ego hold you back as in the illustration on this post.”

“Light in the Brain”

2016-REP-eye for effects of sunlight

“Light has long been a metaphor for advanced mental processes—enlightenment. In this regard, images of light have been used as methods of meditation to arrive at relaxation and expanded mental states. Now, research shows that special light sensitive cells in the eye are not used for vision, but rather, send neuronal fibers through complex circuits directly into higher brain centers of learning and emotion.”

Read the entire article online at the blog of Jon Lieff, MD.

Resident Consociate Michael has this to say about the article: “For its brevity, this is one of the most complete articles ever written on the effects of sunlight. It is very easy reading and all the information, though not cited, is supported by research publications I’ve read over the past four or five years.”
