The International Community of Christ inherited Steamboat Hot Springs in 1986 by gift deed and has been operating it ever since as a health and wellness center. The history of Steamboat Springs, Nevada is told in the book A Steamboat in the Desert, written and compiled by Church member Reverend Roger Bowen Weld in 1998.










Another important symbol was the solar boat. It is said that Ra, the Sun god, road this boat to carry the sun across the sky. It is also said that this boat carries the human soul to the afterlife, again relating the Spiritual Sun to eternal life. An interesting recent discovery is that there was originally a moat around the Sphinx of Egypt with a solar boat in it, relating that monument to the Spiritual Sun.
