“Mystery of fastest white dwarfs solved?”

Wh

  • White dwarfs are the remaining small, dense cores of dead stars. Some white dwarfs move through the Milky Way at incredibly high speeds.
  • A new study reveals their origins. The study suggests that, when two rare types of white dwarfs collide, the resulting supernova explosion slingshots a remnant of the least dense white dwarf out into deep space.
  • The white dwarfs’ unusual temperatures and brightness can also be explained in this scenario.

The Rich Must do more than just make Small Donations to the Poor

“If God has endowed you with riches, then regard them with pleasure, for the means to good deeds is in your hands.

“It is not sufficient for a rich man to give to the poor or to alleviate the distress of the needy. He who, having received abundance from God, doles out a pittance to the poor, does but salve his conscience and is not truly walking with God.

“It is the duty of the rich man to cast the weight of his riches in the balances, that goodness may outweigh evil.

“It is the duty of the powerful man to range his might alongside the forces of good in the struggle against evil. He shall protect the poor against the exploiter and defend the weak against oppression of tyrants.

“It is not so important to give to the poor man as to remove the cause of his poverty. To help the weak is good but of lesser importance than to attack their oppressor.”

-The Kolbrin Bible (MPR:9:1-5)

Regard Wealth as a Means to Good Deeds

It is good to regard wealth as a means to do good deeds for others, and not just as motivation to go after more and more money. We can look for examples to some of the wealthy of the past and present. Andrew Carnegie, the American industrialist, used most of his money to build public libraries. He built around 2,500 total, about 1,600 in the United States. Singer and actress Dolly Parton has donated millions of books to poor children. That’s how wealthy people should act.

Goodness Outweighs Evil

At the present time, it seems to many that evil far outweighs good, but that is only because we are paying more attention to the evil than we used to. That is a good thing because we can’t eliminate evil if we don’t recognize that it exists. Of course, wanting to get rid of evil doesn’t mean it’s going to happen, but we can at least start by avoiding evil in our own behavior. We can also encourage others to do the same. The quote says it is the duty of the powerful person to use his “might” to aid the forces of good. What we are seeing instead is that the rich and powerful are being greedier than ever, wanting more and more for themselves, rather than helping others. But as we are in the End Times, and the Sun of Righteousness now shines down upon us, the evil will be slowly “burned” out of the world, not only in people, but in everything. Those foolish enough to cling to their materialistic ways will die because the changing world will not support such people. Their low rate of vibration won’t allow them to function in the higher vibration world that is coming.

Remove the Cause

The quote says that rather than help a few individuals suffering from poverty, we should seek to remove the cause of their poverty. While some don’t seem to realize it, the fact that we have a dozen or so people in the world who are hoarding so much wealth that they have more money than the rest of the world together is the primary cause of poverty. Unfortunately, those very wealthy people pay off politicians to pass laws that are advantageous to them, but take more and more from the average person. We need politicians who put the general population ahead of a few wealthy people. We also need laws that prevent the wealthy from essentially buying politicians to favor them. We need to ensure that the wealthy pay a fair share of taxes.

“Hawking’s Bold Theory Confirmed by Loudest-Ever Black Hole Collision”

Wh

Ten years ago, scientists heard the universe rumble for the first time. That first discovery of gravitational waves proved a key prediction from Albert Einstein’s theory of general relativity and began a new era of astronomy.

Now, a new gravitational-wave discovery marks the anniversary of this major breakthrough. Published today in Physical Review Letters, it puts to the test a theory from another giant of science, Stephen Hawking.

“Stunning new solar flare images show unprecedented detail”

  • Solar flares are intense bursts of radiation and light on the sun. Coronal loops, which often precede flares, are huge loops of plasma that arch over the sun’s surface.
  • The Daniel K. Inouye Solar Telescope has taken new high-resolution images of a solar flare and coronal loops. They show the smallest loops ever seen, in unprecedented detail.
  • The coronal loops look like thin, dark threads and might be the fundamental building blocks of solar flares.

“High-Mass Stars Are Fed By Elongated Streamers Of Gas”

High-mass stars with eight or more solar masses are mysterious. Despite the fact that they’re more easily observed than their lower-mass counterparts, astrophysicists have struggled to explain how they become so massive. The problem is that while they accrete material and become more massive, they’re also shedding mass.

Attitudes of the Real Man Towards the Poor and Weak

“Lend your arm to the aged, and open your purse at the cry of the poor. Guard well against the urge to plunder the unprotected and from treating the destitute with harshness.

“If you are lacking in compassion, it is well to remember that today, one may be rich and another poor; yet, ere a year has passed, the rich man may be working in a stable, and the poor man may be clothed in fine linen. Such are the balances of life, and it is, therefore, wise to turn a like countenance towards all men.

“Help the man in unfortunate circumstances, for anyone can fall into the pit of misfortune. Commit no assault upon him by reason of his weakness, nor turn his predicament to your own advantage. Fill his stomach with bread and drink. Provide a place for him to lay his head. Let your countenance be cheerful towards him, and let words of encouragement fall from your lips.”

-The Kolbrin Bible (MPR:8:1-3)

The Real Person vs the Weak Person

The “Real person,” which is to say, the spiritually strong person, shows kindness, mercy, concern, and love for all. While they think they are showing strength, the person who belittles the less fortunate among us is actually showing weakness.

Lend Your Arm and Open Your purse

As we get old, we all start to have health problems. It varies depending on a number of factors, including heredity, what we eat, and how well we care for ourselves. The weak person uses these as reasons to treat such people poorly; the strong person does not.

Some people are poor, homeless, and dressed in shabby clothes. That is not a reason to look down on them. As the quote says, the one who is rich today may be working in a stable tomorrow. More importantly, the spiritual person knows that real wealth comes from spiritual development, not money and material possessions.

Let Your Countenance be Cheerful

We should make every effort to be cheerful at all times. This is a benefit to ourselves as well as to others. When we show a happy face to others, they are likely to do the same. If we show an angry, or unfriendly face, that increases the chance that the other person will do the same. An important part of being spiritual is developing humility. It is usually not something we really have to work at. It simply happens as we grow. So let the Sunshine in, and let your sunshine out to others.

Sorry for the brief article, but I’ve just returned home from a three-day hospital stay and haven’t had much time to work on it.

“A Promising New Method for Detecting Supernovae at Record Speed”

Supernovae are among the most energetic phenomena in the Universe, and definitely one of the most spectacular! These events take place when a star has reached the end of its life cycle and undergoes gravitational collapse at its center, exploding and shedding its outer layers in the process. For astronomers, supernovae are not only a fascinating field of study, shedding light on the evolution of stars, but are also a means of measuring distance and the rate at which the Universe is expanding.

“Baby planet carving a path around its star”

What appears to be a ripple in space actually depicts a newborn planet eating its way through its dusty cradle as it orbits its host star. This image, taken with ESO’s Very Large Telescope (VLT) in Chile, is the first clear detection of a baby planet in a disk with multiple rings.

These so-called protoplanetary disks surround young stars and appear as disk-shaped structures of gas and dust.

The glorious guts of a dying star are the means by which astronomers are hoping to discover the very earliest origins of how our planet was born.

In the midst of the Butterfly Nebula NGC 6302, located some 3,400 light-years from Earth in the southern constellation of Scorpius, astronomers have found compelling evidence of dust crystallizing as it cools from hot gas.

Let each of us Leave an Impression on the Earth

“Each man’s life should leave its impress on Earth, and each man should depart a better man for having lived. Repine not for lost opportunities, for opportunity does not perish at death. Do your best here and

you will do better elsewhere. Be wise here, and you will be wiser in another place.

“Earthly success is not the measure of a man’s achievement, for a gain here may mean a loss elsewhere. An earthly loss may mean a spiritual gain; the scales are always just.

“When in old age you say, “Alas that life is short,” then consider the way you abused and wasted it in your youth, is not your reward fitting? Remember that the paths to pleasant old age are chosen in youth.

They are the paths of simplicity, moderation, cleanliness and virtue.

“Consider the ruthlessness of rulers, the greed of the rich and

the willfulness of the powerful. If these dare to enslave the Earth and wreck misery upon the people, knowing they can enjoy the fruits of their oppression but a brief span of years, what would they not set out to achieve were their span of life doubled or were they immortal?

“Therefore, the Great God in His wisdom has ordained the proper span of man’s life. If, then, you think life is short, why dissipate it so and why waste the precious days? Is it not economy, which makes a man rich, and not abundance?

“The wise man lives fully all his life, and he is always conscious of being alive. The fool is always beginning to live, and the weakling shrinks from it and seeks forgetfulness in comfort. Those who half

live are already half dead.”

-The Kolbrin Bible (MPR:4:33-38)

Leave an Impression

It is a good thing to leave an impression behind when our earthly life is over, provided that impression is positive. To leave an impression as a criminal, a liar, or a greedy person is not desirable, yet many choose to do so. As spiritual people, we should leave an impression of one who has helped people and the planet itself become more spiritual, as is God’s desire. At the very least, we should leave an impression of one who is kind, loving, generous, and helpful.

Repine Not

We should not fret over our mistakes or missed opportunities of the past, but instead, seek to do better in the present and the future. Very few of us have been spiritual since birth. We may have even gone through a period of being very materialistic. But if we learned our lesson and became more spiritual, we need not worry about the past. It is possible that we will have a karmic debt to pay, but it is possible that our good deeds of today will wipe out those debts. Also, as the quote says, if you do your best here, you will be able to do even more good in the afterlife.

Earthly Success

What most people consider success on earth is not true success at all. Having a lot of money or material possessions is not true success. Having political power is not real success. Those things are gone when you depart the earth, and wasting your time on them means you will probably do little to develop true success, which is the awakening and developing of the spiritual faculties. Earthly success is fleeting; spiritual success makes one immortal.

Span of Life

While it can be argued that if spiritual people lived longer, they could do more good, it is also true that if evil people lived longer, they would do more evil. Unfortunately, at this time the evil people in the world outnumber the good, so it is a good thing that physical life is limited to 120 years, at most. It is possible that in the future, when we become more spiritual, that may increase quite a bit. And it is not so much how long you live as how you live that matters. Sometimes, those who accomplish great things live short lives. So don’t be a fool and hide from life; embrace life, and use it as an opportunity to grow spiritually.
