“Creation of Light, Creation of Matter and Death”

“About creation, I wish to confess that our Lord God is the creator and author, but not of all elements of the world, which are impotent and empty, and as Paul said in Galatians, ‘how can you now turn back to the impotent and empty elements under which you suffer a new slavery?’ …
“Even less can we admit that our lord is the creator and author of death, and of the things that are, by their essence, in death, because, as it is written in the book of Wisdom, ‘God has not made death, and he does not rejoice at the loss of the living.’ There exists, then, with no doubt whatsoever, another creature of factor, who is the principle and cause of death.” ~The Book of the Two Principles

Creation of Matter

“If a miner takes iron ore out of the ground and later that iron is used to make a gun, would the miner be considered a murderer if that gun was used to kill? Of course not. If a child pornographer makes photos using a Canon camera, is Canon guilty of child pornography? Certainly not.

“Yet many say that since God created the raw materials of the Cosmos, He is therefore creator of all. God is, by their logic, responsible for all that happens with that raw material. They say there can be no evil, for that would make God the creator of evil. There can be no sin, for that would make God the creator of sin.”

“Spiritual Perception and Man’s Nature”

“It is of the utmost importance that men should be instructed about their own nature, their origin, and their ultimate destiny. … Spiritual perception is a power, which cannot be imparted, but which must be gained by effort. If a person does not know that such a power exists, of if he cannot realize its usefulness, he will make no efforts to attain that state, his mind will remain without illumination, and he will not be able to see the truth. He may feel the existence of the truth, like a man may feel love for an unknown ideal, … but he whose mind is illuminated sees the object of his love, the light which illumines the world.” ~Franz Hartmann

Man’s Nature

“The nature of man is a question that is often debated, sometimes with great fervor. Materialists who can’t accept that anything exists beyond the material realm will say man has evolved from simple animals. We are the hairless beach apes of Sherman’s Lagoon. To others, however, man has an eternal spirit and soul.”

“Wholly Light, Wholly True, Wholly Spirit”

“On a certain day a pearl did I take up, my brethren. I saw in it mysteries pertaining to the kingdom; semblances and types of the majesty. It became a fountain, and I drank out of it mysteries of the Son.
“I put it, my brethren, upon the palm of my hand, that I might examine it. I went to look at it on one side, and it proved faces on all sides. I found out that the Son was incomprehensible, since he is wholly Light.
“In its brightness I beheld the Bright One who cannot be clouded, and in its pureness, a great mystery. … In its undividedness I saw the Truth which is undivided.” ~St Ephraim the Syrian

Mysteries Pertaining to the Kingdom

“Yes, looking upon the Pearl of Wisdom can reveal many mysteries, many secrets. Truths that are hidden from most people. St. Ephraim says it became a fountain out of which he drank mysteries, knowledge. I think we can safely assume that the mysteries that were revealed to him were spiritual mysteries.”

“Sun’s Impact on Man and the World and Beyond”

“Warmth creates certain forms in people. Light also creates certain forms. Life has certain forms as well. Every flow creates its own particular forms. The warmth and light of the Sun have a big impact first on the religious state of people as well as on science. You shall strive to preserve this warmth and light within yourselves. …
“Fire is often interpreted as a destructive element, but though it truly destroys, it can be constructive as well. It is the fire descending from above, from the Sun, that builds our planet and our bodies. It is this fire that imparts thoughts and aspirations in us. Everything gets frozen without fire.” ~Biensa Douno

Forms in People

“While Douno doesn’t say it here, it is implied that if certain forms are created by fire, warmth, and light, very different forms are created by cold and darkness. We, of course, aspire to be those forms that come from warmth and Light.”

“Science and Religion: Together for Peace, Separate for Chaos”

“Take what I have said kindly; I wish only to induce your religious part to have more charity for your scientific self, and the reverse. Both religion and science are working towards the good of man, although their devotees are human and by human error, bring privations, sufferings, and sorrows to men. Neither can fill the place of the other; each should extend a helping hand, and have charity for the shortcomings of the other; they are not antagonists, but workers in one field; both must stand the criticisms of mutual antagonists, and both have cause to fear the evils of fanaticism within their own ranks more than the attacks of opponents from without.” ~John Uri Lloyd

Science VS Religion

“Science and religion was once a single thing, but for several centuries, we have operated in much of the world as if science and religion are enemies, and those who are followers of one cannot be true devotees of the other. The result is a world that is a complete mess with both groups blaming the other and accepting no responsibility for it themselves.”

“Spiritual Harmony and Spiritual Synergy to Transform the World”

“If they [spiritual people] did harmonize—if everybody did—then, by these individual adjustments the complete group-consciousness of humanity would be changed, brought back into conformity with the transcendent; and the spiritual world would be actualized within the temporal order at last. Then that world of false imagination, senseless conflicts, and sham values, into which our children are now born, would be annihilated. The whole race, not merely a few of its noblest, most clear-sighted spirits, would be ‘in union with God’; and men transfused by the light, … would achieve that completeness of life which the mystics dare to call ‘deification’. This is the substance of that redemption of the world, which all religions proclaim or demand, the consummation which is crudely imagined in the Apocalyptic dreams of the prophets and seers. It is the true incarnation of the Divine Wisdom.” ~Evelyn Underhill

Spiritual Harmony

“It is a great thing to be spiritual. It is wonderful that in this time of rampant materialism of the worse kind, some are awaking to the need for something else and following one spiritual school or another. But then there is the old tale of synergy. This is the tale as given to my systems analysis class at Orange Coast college in California back in 1972.

“Cave man Ug is out hunting. So is cave man Gub. Ug is chasing a fast rabbit around a large rock. Gub is doing the same. Both are getting worn out and not getting any closer to their rabbit. Then Gub notices Ug nearby and gets an idea. He move over to the rock where Ug is chasing a rabbit, and when the rabbit comes around to where he is waiting, bonks it. He then Gets Ug to go to the other rock and do the same with the rabbit he was chasing. Now they both have a rabbit because they worked together.

“That is called synergy. When many work together for the same goal, they accomplish more than the same people working separately for the same goal. This doesn’t just work for cavemen hunting. It works for companies. It works for families and countries. And it can work on a spiritual level as well.”

“Community of the Children of Light”

“Our community has existed ever since the first day of creation, when God spoke the word, ‘Let there be light,’ and it will continue to exist until the end of time. It is the society of the children of light, whose bodies are formed of light, and who live in the light forever. … The mysteries which we know embrace everything that can possible be known in regard to God, Nature, and Man. … Our place of meeting is the temple of the Holy Spirit pervading all nature, easily found by the Elect, but forever hidden from the eyes of the vulgar. … Our secrecy is not caused by an unwillingness to give; but by the incapacity to receive on the part of those that ask for instruction.” ~Franz Hartmann

The Community

“Many reading the quote will quickly point out that there have been many spiritual and mystery schools throughout the ages. That is true, but they are really all one community.

“In ancient times, there were schools in Egypt, Greece, and elsewhere. They had different names and the details of their teachings varied, but in essence were the same. Likewise, the Essene communities of Judea, the Therapeutae of Egypt, and similar groups in other times and location were really all one community and considered themselves so. Although Historians only consider the Essenes to have existed for a century or two, the Essenes themselves claimed to have been in existence for thousands of years under many different names. And they are awakening again today under different names including the community of Cosolargy in the United States (but with members in many nations).”

“Gospel of John: The Shepherds and the Light”

“The coming of Christianity represents, in a sense, the central moment, the turning point between involution and evolution. This is why it radiates so brilliant a light—a light that is nowhere so pregnant with life as in the Gospel of St. John. …
“It cannot be said that modern theology has this conception of the Gospel. From the historical point of view it is considered inferior to the three synoptic Gospels, as being, in a sense, apocryphal. …
“During the Middle Ages a number of Brotherhoods saw in this Gospel the essential source of Christian truth. … All were engaged in practical occultism and looked to this Gospel as to their Bible. … It was the popular expression of the secret doctrines. … Such truth as this regenerates the souls of those who become aware of it.” ~Rudolf Steiner

Gospel of John

“’The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. … The true light that gives light to everyone.’ ~Gospel of John

“It is unfortunate that this Gospel is probably the least understood of the four Gospels in the Bible. John is clearly an advanced spiritual person, a person of higher consciousness, who knows what he is talking about. Materialists, unfortunately, think it is all nonsense, of try to bend and twist the spiritual truths into something material.”

“Quiet Waters and the Light of the Spiritual Sun”

“Lo! Quiet waters are before you—holy and tranquil and pleasant—for they are not the waters of contention that cast Joseph into the dungeon. … Nor are they waters of strife. … There are waters whereby there is reconciliation made with Heaven. … In it are baptized the sons of Hagar, and are become gentle and peaceful.
“In the beginning the Spirit that brooded moved on the waters; they conceived and gave birth. … The Holy Spirit has brooded in Baptism, and in mystery has give birth to eagles. … Lo! They are baptized and they become virgins and saints.” ~St. Ephraim the Syrian

Quiet Waters

“White water rafting may be great fun, but for those seeking spiritual growth, calmer waters are better. The Quiet Water is the water of spirit. Water is symbolic of both cleansing and growth. This quiet water does both. It cleanses us of false beliefs and false life styles. It nourishes our spirits and souls allowing them to grow just as water helps plants to grow in the garden.”

“Explore the Extraordinary, Explore the Spiritual”

“All of us spend so much of our time in a world of the mundane and minutia, bogged down in the everyday grind, isolated and disconnected in our closeted lives, that we lose sight of the breathtaking extraordinariness of our existence. So step out from the ordinary … and get used to the extraordinary.
“Reach out and recapture the wonderment that absorbed your childhood, that filled every waking moment with sheer fascination of new discoveries, however simple …Then immerse yourself in anything that uplifts and inspires you, that reminds you of the extraordinary potential and raw power of the human spirit and moves you to your very soul. … And then remind yourself of the astonishing order and design underlying all life.”
~Elizabeth Brown in “Dowsing the Ultimate Guide for the 21st Century”.

The Mundane World

“Most of us certainly don’t think of our day-to-day life as mundane, yet it is for nearly all of us. We do the same things over and over, work at the same job, listen to the same music, have the same hobbies, and so on. Often the only time we change is any significant way is when either circumstances for us do too, such as when a flood destroys our home and we are forced to move elsewhere, or when some crisis happens that causes us to rethink matters, such as when a relative or friend dies.

“In my case, it was after my younger brother died. Partly, it made me realize that I really was mortal, something we generally avoid thinking about. And when I looked around me at what I and most others did as our regular lives, I found it lacking in significance. I had been involved to a small degree in spiritual studies before his death, but it was only after that I became serious about it. Nothing makes you stop and think about the afterlife more than death.”
