“Light in the Brain”

2016-REP-eye for effects of sunlight

“Light has long been a metaphor for advanced mental processes—enlightenment. In this regard, images of light have been used as methods of meditation to arrive at relaxation and expanded mental states. Now, research shows that special light sensitive cells in the eye are not used for vision, but rather, send neuronal fibers through complex circuits directly into higher brain centers of learning and emotion.”

Resident Consociate Michael has this to say about the article: “For its brevity, this is one of the most complete articles ever written on the effects of sunlight. It is very easy reading and all the information, though not cited, is supported by research publications I’ve read over the past four or five years.”

“Ancient Alignment in the Andes Hints at Lost Global High Culture”

“In the 1970s the Dutch-Peruvian mathematician, Maria Sholten D’Ebneth wrote a book in which she claimed to have discovered, or rediscovered, an alignment of pre-Columbian sacred sites stretching from the ancient city of Tiwanaku (Tiahuanaco) in Bolivia to north of the city of Cajamarca in northern Peru. The alignment appeared to be incredibly accurate and covered a distance of around 1,000 miles (1,600 km), cutting across some of the highest mountains and steepest gradients in the entire world. The alignment had a precise orientation of exactly 45̊ West from true North, following the line of the Andes mountains.

“Published only in Spanish, and now out of print even in that language, Sholten D’Ebneth’s, La Ruta de Wiracocha (The Route of Viracocha)[i] contains a wealth of information hardly known to the English speaking world. The alignment’s association with Viracocha, the great Andean creator god, teacher and civiliser of humankind, is a highly significant one. Many legends concerning the feats of Viracocha speak of his undertaking a journey, from the city of Tiwanaku towards the North West, eventually to leave the shores of South America’s Pacific coast just south of the present day border between Peru and Ecuador. Viracocha’s legendary journey, Sholten D’Ebneth revealed, corresponded with her own geometrical discovery of the alignment of many of the most ancient and sacred sites in the Andes, including the famous ones at Cusco (Cuzco), Ollantaytambo and, of course, the great and mysterious complex of Tiwanaku.”

“It appears that we are approaching a unique time in the history of man and science where empirical measures and deductive reasoning can actually inform us spiritually. Integrated Information Theory (IIT) – put forth by neuroscientists Giulio Tononi and Christof Koch – is a new framework that describes a way to experimentally measure the extent to which a system is conscious.”

A World of Shadows

2015-REP-ShadowHands

The gold chalice and the wooden one cast identical shadows. Those people who see only shadows, and live their lives accordingly, will find it nearly impossible to recognize that one chalice is worth far more than the other. The shadow of smoke plumes from a forest fire look much like the shadow of a cloud bringing rain that can put out the fire. How can you tell which is which if you only see the shadows? If you can only see the shadow, how do you know that you are walking toward the rain and away from the fire? Shadows can be ShadowPuppets800px-Wayang_Pandawadeceptive in many ways. This photo of a Javanese shadow play shows shadows that are somewhat human, but they have been stylized according to the art of that country. If one saw this as reality rather than as a play, he might think he was seeing strange alien creatures (are you listening channel H2?).

Unified Consciousness – linking the Levels

2015-REP-ConsciousnessExpanded1J

“We must be ‘oned with bliss’ if we are to be aware of it. That aspect of our being by which we may attain this communion—that ‘marrow of the Soul,’ as Ruysbroeck calls it—usually lies below the threshold of our consciousness; but in certain natures of abnormal richness and vitality, and under certain favorable conditions, it may be liberated by various devices, such as contemplation. Once it has emerged, however, it takes up, to help it in the work, aspects of conscious self. The surface must co-operate with the deeps, and at last merge with those deeps to produce that unification of consciousness upon high levels which alone can put a term to man’s unrest.” ~Evelyn Underhill

Becoming one with “bliss”, or more accurately, one with God, is indeed the way to truly expand consciousness to higher levels. It is also true that when our soul is awakened and our consciousness on that level starts to grow, the surface level of consciousness, or ego, is generally unaware of it and may remain so for years. Nonetheless, that spiritual awareness, that Divine Consciousness, may be growing below that surface.

“Watch a massive solar storm charge up the aurora borealis”

“An aurora is one of the most wondrous things a person can witness on our great planet. If you happen to live near the North Pole (or the South Pole, in the case of the aurora australis) during the cold winter months, then you’re pretty much guaranteed a front row seat to this atmospheric spectacle.

“Because the intensity of an aurora depends on the amount of solar radiation hitting the atmosphere, catching one of these events during a massive solar flare can be an experience of a lifetime. Just ask photographer Henry Jun Wah Lee, who created this video, which displays the awe-inspiring auroral effects of a monster solar flare that hit the Earth this past March. The flare erupted as a result of the sun’s solar maximum, which is the peak of solar activity in the sun’s 11-year cycle. Because of the flare’s strength, the aurora was viewable in regions that virtually never see the northern lights.

“‘I was fortunate enough to be at the right place at the right time when the solar storm of the decade hit Earth,’ Jun Wah Lee writes of his time shooting his Apotheosis video in Iceland. ‘The sky was covered with auroras so strong, they were visible at dusk. This continued all night until dawn. In the film, you will see rare red, yellow, white, blue and violet purple auroras.’

The Electric Universe: How They Say It Works

PHOTO: thunderbolts.info

PHOTO: thunderbolts.info

The electric universe concept is not widely known but it has found its way into the Community Communique now and then as a result of Community members finding some of its principles of interest — whether electricity or plasma or mythology. (Not to mention that the producer of many of the films published by the Thunderbolts organization on facets of the electric universe concept is a longtime member of our Community: Gerald Simonson.)

The electric universe concept is still controversial as an alternative to the principles of conventional physics and astrophysics. And its own principles and perspective on the cosmos are generally not found all together in a single synopsis. The article linked to below, “The Electric Universe” by Wal Thornhill, provides this synopsis.

I suggest you read it — especially if you are scientifically trained yourself — and start a conversation in our comments to this posting.

Here is how it opens:

“The Electric Universe”
By Wal Thornhill

“We live in an electric world. Our cities are visible from space at night, blazing with electric lights. The electricity courses invisibly in the darkness over great distances along thin power lines. We find electricity indispensable. Nature does the same since all matter is electrical. Yet astronomy is stuck in the gas-light era, unable to see that stars are simply electric lights strung along invisible cosmic power lines that are detectable by their magnetic fields and radio noise.

“It is now a century since the Norwegian genius Kristian Birkeland proved that the phenomenal ‘northern lights’ or aurora borealis is an earthly connection with the electrical Sun. Later, Hannes Alfvén the Swedish Nobel Prize winning physicist, with a background in electrical engineering and experience of the northern lights, drew the solar circuit. It is no coincidence that Scandinavian scientists led the way in showing that we live in an Electric Universe.

“Why have they been ignored? The answer may be found in the inertia of prior beliefs and the failure of our educational institutions. We humans are better storytellers than scientists. We see the universe through the filter of tales we are told in childhood and our education systems reward those who can best repeat them. Dissent is discouraged so that many of the brightest intellects become bored and drop out. The history of science is sanitized to ignore the great controversies of the past, which were generally ‘won’ by a vote instead of reasoned debate. Today NASA does science by press release and investigative journalism is severely inhibited. And narrow experts who never left school do their glossy media ‘show and tell,’ keeping the public in the dark in this ‘dark age’ of science. It is often said, “extraordinary claims require extraordinary proof.” History shows otherwise that entrenched paradigms resist extraordinary disproof.”

“. . . Contrary to accepted scientific theory, which assumes that each element is a unit, Ghadiali (1927) concluded that ‘the chemical elements are colour compounds’. His results can be proved by any of the sophisticated equipment of modern science. ‘A specific disease thus constitutes a specific imbalance of colour waves and by implication, chemical imbalance.’ Ghadiali found that by treating the body with a particular color vibration, one could effectively reintroduce the appropriate biochemical elements into the body; he referred to this as color chemistry, certainly a new field of study. His results as published in the first decade of the twentieth century were advocated by Klotsche in Colour Medicine: color medicine not only can heal the diseased frequency of the body but also can introduce actual chemical elements/vibration into the body in a non-toxic form.”

“Intense magnetic field close to supermassive black hole”

This artist's impression shows the surroundings of a supermassive black hole, typical of that found at the heart of many galaxies. The black hole itself is surrounded by a brilliant accretion disc of very hot, infalling material and, further out, a dusty torus. There are also often high-speed jets of material ejected at the black hole's poles that can extend huge distances into space. Observations with ALMA have detected a very strong magnetic field close to the black hole at the base of the jets and this is probably involved in jet production and collimation. Astronomers have revealed an extremely powerful magnetic field, beyond anything previously detected in the core of a galaxy, very close to the event horizon of a supermassive black hole.

This new observation helps astronomers to understand the structure and formation of these massive inhabitants of the centers of galaxies, and the twin high-speed jets of plasma they frequently eject from their poles. The results appear in the 17 April 2015 issue of the journal Science.
