EDITOR: How did you first come into contact with the Community?

JOHN CURRY: I was introduced to Gene [Savoy Jr.] by a mutual friend, Noel Foley, in 2000.
EDITOR: How did you first come to hear about Steamboat Hot Springs Healing Center?

JOHN CURRY: Gene actually introduced Steamboat to me. He gave me a tour of the location last year.
EDITOR: How did you become the director of the healing center?

JOHN CURRY: Gene and I discussed some ideas and thoughts about the direction and future of the spa at Steamboat, and I offered to assist/volunteer my time and knowledge last year. Gene invited me to become the director in April of this year, and I was honored to accept this challenging role.
EDITOR: What is it about your professional background that prepared you for the position?

JOHN CURRY: Thirty years of successful hotel, resort, casino, and country club senior level manager experience. I have opened and rebranded several full-service operations.
EDITOR: Could you give us a summary of what you have done with the healing center since you have been director?

JOHN CURRY: The list of individual projects is quite long, but I’ll try to list them.

Chapel of the Roses renovations are completed.

The wedding program is in its early stages. We hosted our first wedding successfully at the end of June.

We are freshening up the interior of building and treatment rooms, painting and redecorating. This is ongoing.

Our event and private party program has been started and is ongoing.

Monthly craft fairs have been started and are ongoing.

We started a new yoga program in May and that is ongoing.

We also have also started monthly retreat programs. Rebecca Willis is heading up the Save-The-Date with monthly discussions/meeting with guest speakers.

We have begun to make available hotel/spa/retreat/wedding/event packages. This also is ongoing, with room to increase. We are already working with Holiday Inn and the Hilton Garden Inn.

We have improved our retail program, beginning with handmade soaps.

We are now carrying the Two Feathers product line.

We have increased our exposure to the Asian and Hispanic demographic populations in the area, which we currently have little to no impact on. This is started and ongoing.

We have continued training our staff and have regular team meetings. This too is ongoing.

We have also recently acquired two dry saunas and are making those available to out clients.
EDITOR: That is quite a list. I suppose you also have a number of plans for the future. Would you provide us a summary of them?

JOHN CURRY: First is the pool program. This is going to be one of our biggest goals for next year: adding a main outdoor pool for multiple treatment options and to increase our soak pool options.

Next is a water bottling company for the supply of residential and commercial drinking water. This could be a major project over the next five years. It is already in the works to start in October 2015, based on final approval.

And there are new Sonatherapy programs. I am working on getting a film documentary on Gary Buchanan and his Sonatherapy work and research. And we just connected with a former National Football League 10-season Player from the Buffalo Bills, Roland Hooks, who is going to meet with Gary to discuss treatment options. I am also working on building a networking opportunity with the Reno Aces for possible treatment options with Gary.

We are also planning to add a logo line of t-shirts and bath robes available for sale. This too is in the works to start Oct 2015.

We also plan to start a facial menu program by that time as well.

And we are developing wellness programs. The first one started with Blue Moon Harvest out of Truckee, California. This program is in the early stages with lots of room to increase and expand.

And we plan to renovate two more treatment rooms, the old Tea Room and the Crystal Room, with a completion date of November 2015. And at the same time, we plan to upgrade the Indigo Room by adding a Japanese soaking tub to the current shower area.

SONATHERAPY ® Now a Registered Trademark

SONATHERAPY trademark certificate

SONATHERAPY trademark certificate

The term SONATHERAPY ® has now been officially recognized by the United States Patent and Trademark Office as a registered trademark as of July 7, 2015. Every use of the word should now be followed by ® rather than “TM.”

< Download a copy of the U.S. Patent Office certificate. >

The process to register the word as a trademark was undertaken three years ago. Only now has the attempt brought results, and not without some struggle. Corporate lawyers were called in to advocate on behalf of the Church and the developer of SONATHERAPY ®, the Rev. Dr. Gary Buchanan, in order to prove that although the term has gained popularity around the world for various uses over the past several years, Dr. Buchanan was the creator of the term.

Sonatherapy is a vibrational healing therapy developed over the past fifteen years by Dr. Gary Robert Buchanan and practiced at Steamboat Boat Healing Center in Nevada. Sonatherapy combines light, color, sound, water & subtle energies in the promotion of self-healing. A practicing Sonatherapist, Dr. Buchanan regularly meets with clients from around the world each month offering “self-healing” via light, color, sound, water, and subtle energy therapeutics.

The SONATHERAPY ® web site links to several Sonatherapy videos and provides a general description of the therapy and its practice. There are also pages on Dr. Buchanan himself and links to order his newest book, Sonatherapy: Healing with Light, Color, Sound, Water & Subtle Energies.

A 24 kilowatt photovoltaic array was commissioned for Steamboat Hot Springs Healing Center & Spa by local company Black Rock Solar (BRS) in July 2014. By October 2014 the system installed by Black Rock Solar was fully operational and now provides 100{1fa2ef75e2e78439128d99df03acfe1d8ee3047374abe3d4676fe3470ff8b909} of the electrical energy needs for the main spa building.

This renewable energy project was undertaken by BRS in conjunction with the state of Nevada to provide a model of sustainability in the area, and is projected to offset 500 tons of greenhouse gases and save the International Community of Christ (ICC) more than $85,000 over the next 25 years.

In July the solar array was installed but operational until the major electrical panel was replaced, because the old electrical panel could not carry the load. The cost for replacement was $18,000, but even with that purchase, which has been financed over a period of a few years, ICC began to save money almost immediately because of the high rate of utility payments. Nevada Energy (NV Energy), the regional supplier of public utilities, also needed to change the transformer on the power pole that supplies the main spa building. But once the project was completed, the spa became a 100{1fa2ef75e2e78439128d99df03acfe1d8ee3047374abe3d4676fe3470ff8b909} green facility with the photovoltaic array providing all the electricity and geothermal providing all the heat.

The project began its conception phase in April 2013, when ICC was approached with the idea by local Episcopal priest Rev. Stephanie Schatz, who had converted her downtown church building to solar power and gave Bishop Gene Savoy Jr. the contact information for Black Rock Solar, a local green energy company that works only with non-profit entities.

In May, Gene sent the necessary application information to BRS, and BRS in turn applied to NV Energy’s non-profit grants program for solar generation of power , a photovoltaic incentive program available to customers of NV Energy. (Click on proposal photo above or promotional flyer below to enlarge.) BRS determined that the main building at Steamboat Spa would be most beneficial to ICC. And according to the grants available at the time, the main spa building was best for the project at the time.

From May through October 2013 BRS did their analysis and presented ICC with their report. By the end of November, BRS and ICC submitted an application to NV Energy to receive a $69,000 grant. By December 2013 the project was approved by NV Energy and the grant money was awarded to BRS, the company doing the installation, and work began. The company projected that the installation would be completed by the end of June 2014, and their work on the project was actually completed by July.

Dr. Gary Robert Buchanan Presents “Healing with Wave Front Bioresonance”

Dr. Gary Robert Buchanan will represent the Steamboat Hot Springs Healing Center & Spa at the Spring 2014 Reno Psychic Fair. He will present the talk “Healing with Wave Front Bioresonance” on Sunday, March 23rd from 1 pm until 2 pm .

Sonatherapy is a unique and advanced approach to healing that uses sound, light, color, water and subtle energies to promote vibrant health of the body and its organizing fields.

All parts of the body and its fields respond to sound, light and color stimulation, including the tissues and cells, organs, nerves, brain, eyes, ears, force centers (chakras), meridians and envelopes of electromagnetic and subtle energies surrounding the physical body.

This revolutionary therapy has been researched and developed by Dr. Gary Buchanan since 1975. Beginning with Cymatic therapy, using combinations of sound developed in England over the last century by Sir Dr. Peter Guy Manners, Dr. Buchanan has developed new applicators, computer programs, stereophonic wave fronts, pulsed and panned light color, with sound and in geothermal waters.

Sonatherapy immediately reduces inflammation, allergies, sinusitis, swelling, edema, pain, along with respiratory and circulatory problems. Conditions such as arthritis, joint and knee tissues, back pains, and the like respond to the sound entrainments right away.

For more information on this therapy, watch YouTube.com/Sonatherapy.

2014 Reno Spiritual and Wellness Expo: Saturday, March 22 – Sunday, March 23, 2014

2014-REP-2014_spring_psychic_fair

At this year’s Reno Spiritual and Wellness Expo, Steamboat Hot Springs Healing Center and the Cosolargy Institute are providing a free one-hour workshop on sound healing.

Here’s what it says on the web site:

“Sound Therapy”
Cosolargy Institute, Steamboat Hot Springs Healing Center and Spa

Sound Therapy—also termed “acoustic therapy”—is a non-invasive technology that uses audible sound to help restore the body to optimal health, balance, and function. It promotes the body’s natural healing abilities through the use of electronic sound application devices to transmit frequencies associated with healthy cells to the body’s organs and tissues.

Modern science has shown that the human body is a dynamic energy system and that our cells, organs, and tissues have their own vibratory nature. This natural resonant frequency can become upset and unbalanced, leading to pain, illness, or disease.

The sound waves help to normalize imbalances and synchronize the cells’ frequencies back to a natural healthy state of vibrational resonance. For example, in the case of muscular discomfort, the energy of the muscle and the frequency of its field will have been changed by the injury or condition affecting it. Cymatherapy transmits a corrective frequency into the muscle to rebalance its energy and stimulate the body’s natural healing process.

A scientific breakthrough in sound therapy, the Cymatherapy uses hundreds of “commutations,” which are harmonious combinations of five frequencies, to correct a variety of imbalances in the body. It also employs magnetic therapy, and many well-constructed medical studies in Europe, Asia, and the United States have proven that oscillating magnetic fields are effective in treating physical problems. The results are enhanced through the combination of sound and magnetic therapy — two powerful and natural healing agents in the field of bioresonance and vibrational medicine.
