Gary Buchanan presents on Cosolargy at LumiCeuticals Conference

Hyatt Place Salt Lake City/Farmington/Station Park, venue of the 2019 LumiCeuticals Conference

The Shine With Light company’s Annual Conference was held in Salt Lake City/Farmington Station, Utah, October 10-12, 2019. About 200 healing light practitioners and researchers were in attendance.

Following a guided Sunset Ceremony led by Rev. Canon Dr. Gary Buchanan on October 10, the evening’s keynote presenter was Buchanan’s longtime colleague, Jacob Liberman, OD, PhD. The essence of Dr. Liberman’s talk, “The Eyes are the Windows of the Soul,” was this: “The medicine of the future is light. We are healing ourselves with that which is our essence.”

On the morning of October 11, Dr. Buchanan gave a two-hour presentation on Cosolargy, the International Community of Christ, sun-gazing, and new developments in Sonatherapy. Video clips from the documentary film “Eat the Sun,” featuring ministers of the Second Advent Church at a Divine Sunrise Service held at the Cathedral Church of the Americas in Nevada, were very well received by all those in attendance.

As a follow-up, on the afternoon of October 12, Dr. Buchanan hosted a workshop in which he demonstrated the therapeutic applications of sound, light, color, water, and subtle energies while treating a conference member who had suffered a fall on the ice earlier that morning. The Sonatherapy applications, using sound applicators with specially developed Sonations, were administered in synchrony with the Color-Light-Sound pads marketed by Shine With Light and its parent company Lumiceuticals, part of the Kaiyan Medical Equipment Company, Ltd., located in Shenzhen, China.

The founder of Kaiyan Medical, Dutch physicist Alain Dijkstra, was at the conference along with his research team and equipment designers. Dijkstra and Buchanan conferred extensively during the three days in Salt Lake City.

Dijkstra and his colleagues recognize that the research and development accomplished since 1975 by Dr. Buchanan and Cosolargy International in sound and color/light healing are indispensable in the proper design and manufacture of future instrumentation and therapeutic applications by Kaiyan Medical.

As a result, Dijkstra and his team, along with Shine With Light’s founder Marta DeBerard, will be visiting Dr. Buchanan at Steamboat Healing Center in January 2020 to experience geothermal hot tubs, massage and Sonatherapy treatments, and local skiiing while undertaking extensive discussions concerning the technologies, potential designs, manufacture, and marketing of Sonatherapy related instruments.

After a four-year hiatus, two kindred souls, Bishop Gene Savoy Jr. and Swami Sri Atmananda, reunited at the Rectory Abbey on the afternoon of July 30, 2019. While this meeting between Bishop Savoy and Swami Sri Atmananda had no purpose other than friendship and sharing in the Light, they soon began resurrecting plans they had made years ago regarding a solar conference in India. The meeting ended with an agreement between he International Community of Christ and the Satyachetana Movement to organize a conference in India to promote Cosolargy and the role of the Sun in Indian spirituality in late 2020 or early 2021. This agreement was unexpected and joyfully received.

Present at the luncheon meeting with Swami Sri Atmananda were Prasannaa, Tulsi, Vishnupriya, Swamiji’s wife Bouma, and Devashish (David Mitchell). Representing the Church with Bishop Savoy at the meeting were Deacon Radheka Patel Savoy, Helena Savoy, Reverend Mother Rebecca Willis, and Reverend Canons Peter Foust, Amanda Buchanan, Gary Buchanan, and Robert Petrovich.

PATH TO LIGHT: Paul V. Young

Paul V. Young

Paul Young is a Consociate of the Community living in Queensland, Australia. He is in the second year of the Academy Program and is presently serving as the representative of Cosolargy International in Australia, advertising Cosolargy in his online magazine and blog. In future, he also plans to speak about Cosolargy at various conferences around the continent of Australia and environs. Communique editors asked Paul to write up a piece on how he came to be involved in Cosolargy International and practice of The System.

My Path to Cosolargy

The poet Rumi said, “What you are seeking is also seeking you,” and that idea aligns with my own experience (or “relationship”) with the Sun. Many of us who have pursued a lifelong spiritual quest while at the same time remaining involved in career, family, worldly activities and possessions, know what it”s like to be distracted from the path. Often our true goal remains buried deep within the core of our being until we are guided by a spark that ignites a lucid realization in our lower consciousness.

The seeds of spiritual yearning probably go back to my early years as an altar boy in the Catholic Church, an ardent student of Latin and the humanities subjects at college and then being part of the “love and peace” generation of the sixties. Like many baby-boomers, I harboured a yearning for something more than what was being offered by traditional Christian churches, and was fascinated by alternative paths such as transcendental meditation being explored by the Beatles, Cat Steven”s move to Islam, and the inspirational lyrics of the Moody Blues (owing to their association with the Divine Light Mission). My Mom shared these interests but kept them low-key, in deference to my Dad who adhered to dogmatic Catholicism.

In my mid-teens I found two of my mother’s books on the shelves in our living room – one being A Search in Secret India by Paul Brunton, and the other, The Third Eye by Lobsang Rampa. (When I mentioned this in an article I wrote for New Dawn some years ago, I received mail from readers admonishing me for referring to the latter, because he had been “proved a fraud.” No matter, Lobsang Rampa had opened up a new world for me). I went on to read all the works written by those two authors.

Whenever I would read a passage about the connection of ancient peoples to the Sun, even in fictional novels, my heart would leap. As I now know, solar veneration was common to communities in South America, Egypt, Greece, Rome, China, India and other sites around the world that were supposedly never in contact with each other. My lower mind, trapped in the intellect of the brain, began to pick up clues from what I called my Overself (a term used by Paul Brunton) that the goal of my spiritual quest was located right above me, in the Sun.

Many young people take a “gap year” after finishing their education, before embarking on their career. In the early seventies it was common for them to sail from Australia to London, and that was my intention too, until the plans fell through at the last moment. So instead, I went with a friend to the outback opal mining town called Lightning Ridge, situated in the semi-desert region of north-western NSW. There I became acquainted with a colourful array of characters, including my Dutch neighbour Harry who was known for his psychic abilities and wrote his interpretation of the Book of Revelations, as relating to the imminent advent of a new world; my Jewish friend Dick who introduced me to the Kabbalah and took me through a past-life regression; and of course my Aboriginal friends whose understanding of life was totally different to that of us white people. It was during this time that I came to revere the Sun as something to love rather than fear.

A career in international shipping and trade took me to many parts of the globe, and I spent several years at a time living in the Philippines, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Thailand. Thus, I was exposed to elements of Taoism, Buddhism and the unique Filipino mixture of Christianity with Animism. In 1984 I journeyed to Baguio and the Benguet province of the Philippines highlands to experience first-hand the techniques of the psychic surgeons. Other highlights in Asia for me have included visits to Angkor Wat in Cambodia, the Tanah Lot Hindu temple in Bali and Wat Phrathat, Doi Suthep, Thailand. To the West, I have been privileged to witness the ancient Greek Valley of the Temples in the south of Sicily, where Empedocles, whom I greatly admire, dwelt two and a half thousand years ago; also Stonehenge and Glastonbury in England, the Sun King’s palace at Versailles, and I never tire of wandering around the Colosseum, Pantheon and Forums of Rome.

My time in Taipei spanned 1990 to 1995 and it was in 1994 that I experienced a lucid dream involving instruction from my guides, after which I joined the Rosicrucian organization AMORC (they were not active in Taiwan, so I studied their monographs by correspondence). In September 1995, just as my business there was at its peak financially and I was considering promoting AMORC in Taiwan, I suffered a near-fatal car crash which brought everything to a halt. This affected my existence to the point that I now divide everything in my life as “pre-accident” and “post-accident.”

(While my association with AMORC has been beneficial overall, one of my frustrations has been that they sometimes make brief references to a particular topic, then say it cannot be discussed in this text and will be returned to at a future time. One such theme was that of the Sun, when they declared that there was much more than just light and warmth to be thankful for, and there were in fact other more subtle properties being directed to us on Earth from our star. However, many years later, I have not received any elaboration from them on the matter.)

Back in Australia, as I slowly recovered after the accident, I tried to reassemble my old life working at the company I had co-founded in 1980. I continued my Rosicrucian affiliation, studied Reiki to level three as well as two of their ancillary courses, obtained a writing diploma and contributed regular articles of a metaphysical nature to Insight Magazine.

Business life was no longer fulfilling, so I took an early retirement and payout then moved to Chiang Mai in northern Thailand, where I completed an English teaching diploma and set up a company to enrol students to study at various Australasian colleges. This did not end well financially and I once again took up shipping/exporting to pay the rent, while at the same time my attraction to the Sun was growing stronger.

Everywhere I looked, Life was confronting me with “solar synchronicities,” yet I was still unsure what action to take. During the past couple of decades, I have connected with one I call my Muse (whose name I keep to myself). We are part of a small group we call the Guild of Scribes, which exists on a different dimensional plane – a plane occupied by many of the so-called vanished civilizations who are recorded as having simply disappeared from the face of the earth over the past ten millennia, and which I believe actually shifted to a higher-dimensional frequency. [https://www.solarancestor.com/temporary-civilizations.html]

There are occasions when I am meditating that I achieve an altered state of consciousness (induced naturally, without taking any substances), during which these guiding Scribes instruct me to write – I do not call this “automatic writing” like some spiritualists do – and the result often surprises me when I come back to read it later. After one such episode I composed a short clip using Mind Movies, called Son of the Sun Credo, [https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=15&v=G-c6IdgqyHQ ] plus two more pieces I was inspired to put together some days later. My friends in Chiang Mai thought I was going a bit nutty, and there were times my own objective consciousness questioned what was coming from deep within me, which outwardly seemed to be an “obsession” with the Sun.

By the end of 2011, I found myself back in Australia anticipating, as were countless other people, what might lay in store for the world in 2012. In retrospect, I do believe that a significant change did take place in December 2012 – on another plane and not in the physical way that some were expecting. Now I was fully retired from the rat-race, living on a government pension plus a little extra earned from writing news items for company websites. This afforded me the perfect opportunity to devote more time to my spiritual path and focus on whatever it was that was driving me toward the Sun.

Two years later I experienced an entire two-day period of being in a higher state, during which time I created my Solar Ancestor website and associated Blog. Afterwards however, I felt like the “Lone Ranger,” wondering if I was the only person on the planet in the twenty-first century who was feeling this respectful familiarity for Father Sun.

To pinpoint the specific catalyst that brought me to Cosolargy”s front door, it would have to the reading of an article about the organization that appeared in New Dawn magazine in 2014 (Special Issue Vol.8 No.1). This really piqued my interest and I sensed that I might have located my tribe, but proceeded cautiously. By late 2015 I had completed the online questionnaire and submitted my profile, after which I received the Project X booklet to read. The writings of Gene Savoy Sr. resonated with me then, and still do now, and I feel an intuitive, harmonious connection with him and the Academy he founded.

The period of 2017/2018 saw Life once again distracting me from the path, with two different medical episodes, relocation to another city and at the same time launching my own online magazine, while still contributing to New Dawn magazine, including three book reviews per month. The Sun kept calling me back and when I reconnected with my Preceptor, Bob, after a time away from Cosolargy, I knew this was the right way forward. He and I discussed the idea of me being the representative spokesperson for Cosolargy in Australia, after which I started a notebook (as is my habit) to jot down my thoughts, and the very first item on my list was that it was time to make a full commitment. There could be no room for half-heartedness.

In the ensuing months I made a point of discussing Cosolargy with people I met at conferences as well as in casual conversations with friends. It became obvious that I would meet resistance from people in the new age movement who are disillusioned with religion and often shy away from the word “God,” preferring instead to say “Universe” or “Spirit.” So I went into a state of seeking guidance from my Overself, during my daily prayers and meditation in my home sanctum, asking for signs that would determine my direction. Gradually, I was answered.

In the end it became clear to me that not all of the 7.7 billion people in the world are going to embrace Cosolargy. My role is to reach out to those with whom it does resonate and arm myself with sufficient knowledge to answer their initial questions, then point them towards the Academy. A lot of my decision-making is accomplished during the stage of deep sleep (a handy technique to learn). In May this year I awoke one morning with the clear intention: I am to start making plans to attend the Convocation in Reno in September. From here, everything will fall into place. My focus will be on familiarizing myself with the members of the Academy, its processes and teachings to the point where I will be completely at ease writing, and talking publicly, about Cosolargy on my return to Australia.

ICC vs AEF Lawsuit Settled

The case of the Church vs the Andean Explorers Foundation is over. The Church has been in a legal entanglement with the Andean Explorers Foundation for more than two years. After Andean separated itself from the Church, significant material was removed from Church premises, and Andean claimed ownership over it. This created a major dispute relating to intellectual and other property created by members of the Church, including the late Gene Savoy Sr., as well as precious property in the Church’s possession and collected over a period of decades. This constituted a serious breach of trust and was something that the Church could not allow.

We received the final order and stipulation for the case from Judge David A. Hardy on May 24, 2019, which reads, in part:

The parties stipulate that the “Cosolargy Works” [all intellectual and other property held by Andean] … are the sole and exclusive property of The Head Overseer (Bishop) of the International Community of Christ, Church of the Second Advent, and His Successor, a Nevada Corporation Sole, free and clear of any and all claims of right of ownership or right therein by Andean Explorers Foundation and Ocean Sailing Club, a Nevada Non-Profit Corporation, save and except as same may be licensed by The Head Overseer (Bishop) of the International Community of Christ, Church of the Second Advent, and His Successor, a Nevada Corporation Sole, to Andean Explorers Foundation and Ocean Sailing Club, a Nevada Non-Profit Corporation, in accordance with the parties’ settlement agreement.

Bishop Gene Savoy Jr. reported, “The case ultimately went in our favor, in as much as we have retrieved all of the property that was taken. The Church owns all of that property, and we are now in the licensing process with Andean to determine which items will be licensed and which will not be licensed. So that is still ongoing. We have a mediator, so if there are any disputes that arise in the future, we go to the mediator. We do not go to the judge. At the end of the day, we have recovered everything. Whatever it is, the Church has recovered all of it – everything that exists,” Bishop Savoy said.

The history of the case began officially in January 2017, when Bishop Savoy, Jr. notified the Andean board of directors that the work, scope and mission of Andean was part of the Church, as envisioned by its founder, the lat Gene Savoy, Sr., and that their departure from that work, scope and mission, needed to stop. Andean’s response to that letter was unacceptable, and the present lawsuit commenced.

Eventually, a settlement agreement was reached and drawn up in June, 2018, which allowed Andean to license certain items for their use. But disputes and conflicts arose over the items to be licensed. “There were Church and Jamilian University related items that the Andean claimed licensing rights over, and the Church disputed those claims, so, essentially, the case should have been concluded almost a year ago, but it dragged out for another year over all of the licensing procedures, which, interesting enough, we are still going through. So now both parties have agreed to an amendment to the original settlement to clarify the process,” Bishop Savoy explained.

The amendment deals with a new process for Andean to submit its licensing requests through the mediator. Because both parties have agreed to the use of a mediator to handle disputes, the case has now been moved out of court and all the details of licensing are no longer a problem that needs to be resolved by the court.

“The Church has made its notations of Andean’s request to indicate what we can license and what we won’t license, what we can’t license, what we will license but we are not responsible for how they use it, for instance, the music,” Bishop Savoy said. It is the Church’s position that Andean’s request to license past musical recordings and performance videos in almost all cases would violate copyright ownership and/or music performing rights as protected by copyright law and the music performing right organizations of ASCAP and BMI. The same concerns pertain to certain films and videos held by the Church, which has been granted limited usage by the likes of CBS, ABC, BBC, and others.

“Needless to say, it cost the Church quite a bit of money in legal fees to recover the entirety of the property, but that is what has finally transpired. As of May, this lawsuit has been dismissed by the court in our favor. . . The long and short of it is that we recovered all of our property, intellectual and other,” Bishop Savoy said.

“Some members of The Community have questioned the wisdom of pursing this course of action,” he continued. “However, I cannot stress enough the importance and significance of our explorations, discoveries and research in Peru. The information that was gathered, primarily by my late father is profound, to say the least. He spent decades of his life researching and uncovering civilizations that no longer exist that used the Sun for their spiritual benefit. The archaeological discoveries aside, which are also very significant, were not as important as the spiritual discoveries he made. This information is primarily what we sought to protect in order that these things would not be commercialized, secularized and put to profane use. And that is why we have created ‘Gene Savoy Xplorations’ as a branch of The Community, to preserve and protect this work and carry it forward into the future.

“The main thing is, I want to let everyone know that we were successful in what we set out to do. The importance of why we did it is, I think, the key. Why are we doing this? Why did we spend the money? A lot of people would say, ‘That’s ridiculous. It doesn’t make any sense. Who cares? Just let them have it.’ For some reason, we didn’t look at it that way. And the reason is that our action keeps the integrity of the work and allows us to do something with it in a new way, which I think is important.

“I think we already know all of the reasons that the explorations went far beyond archaeological work. That doesn’t mean that the archaeological work is unimportant. It is important. But the big picture is much more important than that. And I don’t really think that my father would have wanted his work to be divided – to be chopped up. I don’t know what he would have done. But the way that I was trained – the way that he taught me – was that if things are important, you fight for them. Otherwise everybody comes in, as he would say, raids you and steals your stuff, and then you have nothing.”

There has been much interest in recent years on the practice of solar light absorption or what is popularly known as “sun gazing.” But not all sun-gazing methods are the same. Having knowledge of the System and understanding it, new students of Cosolargy can accomplish on the human level what the ancient practitioners accomplished with the spiritual sun.

We invite you to take a look at the new site and let us know what you think. Above is an image from the Sun Gazing page and the button below will take you right there.

You Are Invited to the 2019 Convocation

April 19, 2019

It is with great pleasure that we once again extend to you, and all our members, our special invitation to join in Community for the annual Convocation of the Sacred College, the Academy, and the ministry of the Second Advent Church.

We will meet for this year’s Convocation from Tuesday, September 3rd, through Sunday, September 8th.

This year commemorates the sixtieth year of the Church’s existence since its founding in 1959 — the Church’s Diamond Anniversary — and also the sixtieth anniversary of the birth of The Child Jamil.

We will be celebrating God’s Image and Word by reviving our work on the final volume of The Secret Sayings of Jamil. How might we fulfill our sacred obligation and destiny, which is to teach the True Religion of Light to all the world and to exemplify righteousness, beauty, and love? As Companions of The Way and disciples of The Child, and as members of the Holy Order of The Child, together we will break the seals on the final three unpublished Sayings received years ago by the late Most Right Reverend Gene Savoy Sr. and let our spirits guide us as we provide the words we need to complete the commentary on them, so that the seventh and final volume of The Secret Sayings of Jamil may be completed and published next year.

Combining our efforts on this project will create a force to inspire the world in the knowledge of living The Way and unify us with Divine Intelligence to build the Nation of God. We will have readings and discussion throughout the Convocation week. This special retreat will help bring to all of us a true connection with the fundamental principles of the Church and make a serious impact for generations to come.

Of course, there are many other activities and presentations planned during the week, including excursions, Chapel Services, and Sunrise Divine Services at the Sanctuary.
