This week, hundreds of millions of Western Christians around the world are celebrating Holy Week in commemoration of the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Next week, Orthodox Christians around the world will do the same. However, we in the Second Advent Church Community observe Easter as a fixed date – April 18 – each year according to the solar, not lunar, calendar. And, of course, in Cosolargy we do not recognize the resurrection of the physical body, only the resurrection of the reborn spiritual or Light Body.

In English, the word “Easter” comes from the Anglo-Saxon Eostre, which can be traced to an important goddess called Hausos. The goddess comes from the proto-Indo European religion, and she is the Goddess of the Dawn. Her name was reconstructed as Ausos, and in India she’s referred to Usas; in Greek Eos; and in Latin Aurora.

The name was derived from the root “To Shine,” thus, translating to “The Shining One.” The English word “East” is derived from this word, also the Latin “Aurum” meaning gold. The dawn goddess was also the Goddess of Spring. In the Anglo-Saxon world, also in the Germanic world, this time – this Easter or Eostre – was called “Eosturmonath” – or “Easter Month” – which was celebrated for the entire month of April. The Goddess of Spring was involved in the mythology of the Indo-European new year when the Dawn Goddess was liberated by God from imprisonment. She is known in the Rigveda as Indra and in ancient Greek mythology as Dionysus. So we see that it is a very important time of the year.

But how do we in the Second Advent/Cosolargy Community reconcile ourselves with this ancient observance? How do we – who do not accept the physical resurrection of the body – harmonize ourselves with this “holy week” which emphasizes the pain, sorrow and suffering of Jesus? How do we – who do not teach that he was the sacrificial Passover lamb, an offering acceptable to God whose blood is shed daily on the alters of churches around the world everywhere and that the shedding of his blood, however ritualistically, was an atonement for the sins of the world— come to terms with this notion? How do we come to terms with those many, many millions of people who do? And, how do we – who reject that Christ’s crucifixion was “good” or that it was the Will of God, holding instead that it was the murder of a Son of Light by the civil and religious authorities of the day – how do we bring that in to accord with our own teaching and theology?

We do so by emphasizing what we know to be Christ’s true message: First, that we are all endowed by the Creator of our Spiritual Beings with an eternal and immortal Soul, if we but cause that divine generative force – Christ or the Word – to penetrate into that spiritual womb. Second, that once we consent to the Word of God – the Logos – being allowed to impregnate our Spirit, that Spirit becomes animated by the Thought and Will of God the Father and becomes a living, breathing, conscious Soul, able to reason on heavenly things. Third, that once imbued with Christ Consciousness, the Soul, released from the cycle of generated existence, recalls and remembers its history and origin and consciouslyparticipates in the Worlds of Light, continually partaking of a divine Communion.

This was the message of Christ Jesus. This is what was symbolized by the Last Supper – the act of the reborn, conscious Soul partaking of the True Communion, feeding off the Word of God – the Bread from Heaven – and drinking from the Cup filled with God’s Living Water – which is Divine Light. And this is also the message of the Messianic Church of the Second Advent. The beauty of it all is that it can be done in the here and now – that our spiritual immortality and divinity can be realized while we exist in this world. And if that is accomplished, one has received the gift of the resurrection – not as something abstract to wonder about after death, but something one can experience and participate in while one lives in this world. But – and this may be the most difficult of lessons: is to learn to accomplish our spiritual quest in the way that Jesus exemplified it – with peace, love and joy.

Spring Equinox

On this first day of Spring in the Northern Hemisphere, I think it is fitting to talk about the sustaining powers of the Universe. We know that the light from the sun and the stars are filled with cosmic and creative energies. All of nature is responding to these energies and forces. That supreme Force which created the sun and the stars is using them and the power of life for Truth and Justice in the Creation. Humankind can no longer do as it wishes, for we now exist under Divine Law in a way not known before to Man. The Final Age of the world has come and with it God’s Holy Light which is transforming the peoples of the Earth.

God and the Light wills that the world and its inhabitants be Good as He intended from the beginning of the Creation. Man’s supposed free will has eternally been subject to the powers and laws of nature. Man has no control over these laws or powers. With the intervention of God from out of the Sun that rules the Earth by its light and energy, that light and energy subjects Man to God and His Energy and Light. If the world and its races continue living according to old ways and outworn traditions and beliefs and disavow God’s Presence, the Earth and its people will continue to experience nature in revolt.

Our Community has come into the world to instruct the peoples of the world so that they can live in accordance with God’s Laws and Will. Our School is here to train the wise who are in opposition to those of unrighteousness and wickedness. We teach peace, wisdom and the establishment of Divine Law to our students and ministers for spiritual Law must be above all things. It is to this that our School is devoted. Spiritual legislation and government has not yet existed on Earth, but God will, in due time, encourage and inspire their formation by means of His Image and Word.

It is not enough that the human family acknowledge God’s existence which, in reality, it does not. Humankind must live The Way of Righteousness in a society bound to the New Laws of God and His New Covenant. Divine Law needs to be exemplified by the peoples of the Earth in mutual respect of one another and one another’s spiritual Rights.

We of this Community know that God is not known or understood by human faculties. He is not attained by either the rational mind or the emotions. He is separate from the physical body. The Spirit, on the other hand, speaks to God in the language of Spirit which is the language of Truth. The religions of the world have lost the way of instructing the Spirit in the language of Truth. They have forgotten it.

Having appeared in the Heavens, God can now speak to all humans in the Light of His Word. He alone is the sole mediator between Man and Himself. If the Spirit sees the Light of God’s Divine Image and hears His Holy Word spoken in that Light, it is aroused from a deep sleep and comes to life again nurtured by the Image and the Word which are Food and Breath to it. Once alive – once reborn – the Spirit lives by Truth. This Truth is not human truth but spiritual Truth. God, being Pure Spirit, is approached only by Spirit. The mind and body are foreign to Him. This is a hard thing to understand. However, this was the teaching of Christ Jesus and is the teaching of the Holy Child, Jamil.

For this reason, God has revealed The Way to be lived in a Community so that its members can participate in True Religion. Once spiritually reborn, the Soul of man and woman can no longer live an ordinary life in the world. It must exemplify Truth, Justice, Goodness, Beauty and Righteousness and unify with God in His Divine Plan for the redemption of the human family.

Fifty-nine years ago today, a miraculous and wondrous Seer Child came into this world leaving a spiritual legacy that continues to inspire seekers of truth around the world. Our School and Community preserve this legacy to assure that those evolved people for whom it was intended may fall heir to the transforming Teaching he revealed.

The story of Jamil is recounted in the book of the same name. Fourteen additional texts speak of the Prophecies and Sayings of The Child. However, it is important to understand that these written words are supplemented by our the Oral Teachings, which we are privileged to receive in the Sacred College. Without the Oral Teaching, the written word cannot be fully understood. This follows in the tradition of all the Holy Masters, including the Buddha, Zoroaster, Quetzalcoatl, Jesus and the Messianic Church whose mystics transmitted concealed teachings to their disciples by word of mouth. This practice was the standard of instruction in the early Christian Church which preceded the later open and public churches.

Jamil restored the secret oral Gospel that was lost with the martyrdom of Jesus and his disciples and immediate followers. Now restored, the secret Oral Teaching constitute a regenerating process which gives new meaning to the mystery of Christ Jesus’ message and extends to the sincere seeker the authentic methods utilized by early Christians and others for rebirth of the spiritual Light Body or Soul. This divine Process has not only been restored, but it has been amended and supplemented with vital new techniques and information for use by modern people in modern times existing in totally new environmental conditions. Once experienced by those applying the Process, which we call the System of Cosolargy and the Sacred Teachings of Light, the transforming process testifies to the power and truth of universal cosmic laws.

That an authoritative Seer Child would appear in modern times is not without prophetic and scriptural precedent spanning many thousands of years. The Dead Sea Scrolls of the Essenes of which Jesus was a part mention an expected Wondrous Child bearing unmistakable body marks who would come at a future time to inaugurate a new age. The Prophet Isaiah tells of a coming time of peace when “The wolf shall life with the lamb, the leopard shall lie down with the kid, the calf and the young lion and the fatling together, and a little child shall lead them.” And even Jesus says “Whoever welcomes one such child in my name welcomes me.” Even in the mystical Gospel of Thomas, Jesus says to Thomas “Let the old man heavy with days hesitate not to ask the little child of seven days about the place of life, and he will live.”

Ancient Persian books speak of a coming child who will leave the world but who will manifest himself out of the Light. He is referred to as the Child of the Word. Various Jain and Buddhist scriptures also speak of this Child who would come to fulfill Man’s longing for universal peace and tranquility under a just and creative cosmic power. And, ancient Indian mythic tradition tells of the Miraculous Babe, the Mahapurusa Cakravartin, who would come into the world at a future time. He would proclaim that the old Sun would experience a transformation and that a new Sun would shine healing rays upon all living things equally without distinction. Indeed, the Cakravartin’s symbol is the sun wheel itself.

Islamic legend tells of the coming of the Man of the Mahd (cradle), the Mahdi or the Divinely Guided One, with whose advent mankind will experience and enjoy greater blessings than ever before. He is said to be marked with the Seal of Prophecy. Even in ancient Egypt, in the center of the Temple of Annu, was the great Hall of the Child with a depiction of a Sun Child sitting in a lotus.

We can also cite from the Zoroastrian Zend Avesta, as well as from the Sibylline Oracles. Even Rome’s Virgil treats of the Wonder Child of God to be sent as a king from the Sun at whose birth the transformation of nature and the intensification of the Golden Age signs would begin: “But at the time when heavenly grace shall rule, and when a holy child shall utterly destroy all wickedness, opening for baleful mortals the abyss.”

Jamil appeared in our modern age. He was a Messenger of Light whose revelations give new hope for humanity’s spiritual aspirations. As God’s Messenger, as the Brother to all previous Messengers, he endowed the world with keys to salvation. That he passed out of this world at the age of three years is in keeping with the Mandaean prophecy that tells of the Messenger of Light returning to immortal realms:

“I am the Messenger of Light whom the great God sent into the world. The true Messenger am I in whom there is no falsehood. Whoever receives God’s word and doctrine, his eyes are filled with light and his mouth is filled with praise and his heart is filled with wisdom…I prepared a way for the good ones and made a gateway for the world…How many times have I come into the world? How many times they took not notice of me. With my final proclamation I depart the world never to return. My spirit and soul return to God.”
