WEEKLY MESSAGE: December 6, 2018

HEAD OVERSEER’S WEEKLY MESSAGE

December 6, 2018

Greetings as we enter this special time of year. I write to you today with an update on our ongoing project in Mexico: Cosolargy International’s Retreat at El Cardonal – Healing Center & Spa.

This year, 2018, we have been diligently working on the initial design phase of the project, which includes site plot maps, floor plans, elevation drawings and various building schematics – all towards developing our master plan. Our team of three – Designer Andrew Tuck, Contractor Antonio Rochin, and myself – have included in the designs ten guest rooms, four suites, eight apartments with kitchenettes, a restaurant and cantina, in addition to the spa and therapies building, reception, swimming pool, chapel and Jamilian University classrooms and office spaces. As you can imagine, this is an ambitious project and will, no doubt, have to be completed in phases. I have included for your reference some of the drawings which, I hope, will give you an idea of what we envision.

The next phase of the project, which is being created at this moment, is the Vision & Concept Plan. This document will compile the collective works of the preliminary design phase and merge The Community’s vision along with important biophilic concepts that are integrated with Cosolargy’s principles and practices. This is one of the important talents of our main designer, Andrew Tuck, whom I work very closely with.

Once this vision document is complete, we will, of course, share it with you. Its main purpose, however, will be to raise the financial resources from the general public for the construction of the project, as well as serving as a foundation of our goals. We anticipate this prospectus to be between 40 and 60 pages in length, and it should be completed early next year. 2019 will primarily be devoted to raising capital and awareness of our project, although we may have an opportunity to build the first construction which will be that of the caretaker’s residence. We shall see.

Over the last two years, we have been diligently making payments on the property. As you can imagine, there are also ancillary expenses which you should know about and which we need to meet in order to keep things moving along. I have just last week been made aware of the property taxes due for 2019. 2018’s property taxes have not yet been paid. Please note that because of the transfer of title to the property in 2017, 2018’s tax bill is higher than 2019. Please also know that Mexico grants no property tax exemptions to any religious organizations. In addition to paying our team (Andrew and Antonio) for the designs and the vision plan, property taxes will be our primary expense, at this time.

I have itemized our expenses for 2018 and 2019 on the attached pledge form. Therefore, this is an appeal for funds covering two years of expenses which will get us through the beginning of 2020. As you can see, expenses for 2018 and going forward into 2019 are approximately $1000 per month. Half of that are the one-time costs for the preliminary designs and the vision document, both necessary to encourage people to support our plans and get involved in our project.

I realize there are a lot of financial pressures around the holidays, so if you are unable to make a contribution now, I understand. However, it is imperative that you make your pledge now so we know how to proceed in the coming year. If you need additional tax deductions before December 31, 2018, now is a good time to take advantage of this opportunity. Please be as generous as you can.

There is also continued interest by Community members to visit Baja California, Los Barriles and surrounding areas, i.e., San Jose del Cabo, Todos Santos, and other nearby places. We are planning another trip very soon, probably after the holidays in either late January or mid-February. If you have interest in accompanying me and other members of The Community, please let me know as soon as possible. If there are other times of the year that suit you, please also let me know, as I travel there a few times each year. (There is some discussion of another trip in late April or early May and possibly later in the year, as well.)

Once again, please feel free to ask me any questions by calling 775-786-7432 or emailing me at messages@cosolargy.org. I am always at your service.

The initial design phase of the proposed development of the healing center and mission at El Cardonal, Baja Sur is underway.

The plan includes site plot maps, floor plans, elevation drawings and various building schematics – all towards developing the master plan. The design team  – Designer Andrew Tuck, Contractor Antonio Rochin, and Gene Savoy Jr. – have included in the designs ten guest rooms, four suites, eight apartments with kitchenettes, a restaurant and cantina, in addition to the spa and therapies building, reception, swimming pool, chapel and Jamilian University classrooms and office spaces. This design plan is the first phase of this ambitious project.

Below are some of the drawings of what the design team has envisioned.

WEEKLY MESSAGE: November 29, 2018

HEAD OVERSEER’S WEEKLY MESSAGE

November 29 2018

To those of you who celebrated Thanksgiving last week in the United States, I hope you had a pleasant and wonderful holiday with family and friends. It is times like these that we are reminded of who and what are important in our lives. It is also a time to reflect on the importance of freedom and on the significance of the human rights that allow us to resonate with God.

In this New Age of Spiritual Freedom, we should indeed honor the prophets of old and respect and understand the religions of the past. However, we cannot confine the living God and the manifesting Light of the Sun of Righteousness to the pages of a book – whatever that book may be. Therefore, to some degree, we must put away the writings of scripture and realize that today God’s Word speaks to man and woman in the Light of the Messianic Sun. God cannot and does not speak to us from the dusty pages of scripture which were meant for another time.

Religious people read the old books, interpret them privately, and declare they are speaking for God. But we say that unless people, beginning with Christians, free themselves from the writings of scripture which reflect the thoughts and workings of times past, mankind will in no way be able to live in God’s Grace come through the Light of the Sun. This does not mean we throw away scripture. To the contrary, we must be enlightened enough to interpret the hidden meanings, the allegory, and the symbology imbued within it for proper understanding.

God Himself has inspired the building of a New Church within Christianity filled with His Light and the Word within that Light, for God’s Word cannot be confined to paper. God’s Word lives and speaks to man and woman through the spiritual heart beating in Spirit. God has caused the Seven Seals of the Book of Life to be opened. He has caused a New Gospel of Light to be given to righteous men and women of the New Church of Light. This New Church of Light comes into being with authority from God and is filled with the power of His Word and the Holy Spirit.

The Angels of Light, the Prophets of God, and the Holy Ones and Saints – the members of God’s body which compose the Invisible Church – revel in this New Church and bless the New Community, which is of the New Advent free from the restrictions of the old. In this way, God has freed those who serve Him.

We, the members of this New Community, are the pioneers – the founding fathers and mothers – of a New Religion which is part of a New Creation which is not to be fettered by the old. God sheds His Light into the world – indeed the whole of Creation – so that all men and women can be redeemed from the Earth and partake of their divine nature in goodness, righteousness, peace and love.

God would that all people understand that they are divine, immortal and part of an eternal creation in which there is no pain, suffering, illness or death. He has caused this New Community to be established in order for men and women to learn how to attain their Godhood and how to participate in their immortality which is accomplished through and within Light.

By the establishment of this New Church, humankind shall be empowered to use God’s Sun in goodness, righteousness and justice for the establishment of a new world order in which God shall be known to all living things as it was in the beginning of creation. This is the New Freedom and something to be very thankful for.

Once again, please feel free to ask me any questions by calling 775-786-7432 or emailing me at messages@cosolargy.org. I am always at your service.

Consociate Shawn Smith visits Community Center

The staff of the International Community of Christ was graced with the visit of a Consociate from Cameroon, Africa, the Reverend Doctor Shawn Smith, November 7th-8th.

Although Shawn spent only a day and a half in Reno, during his short visit he was able to tour both the Red Rock Consecrated Sanctuary, and there meet Sanctuary caretakers and residents, and the Steamboat Healing Center, as well as meet several staff members over dinner at the Rectory-Abbey.

Shawn made his visit while Bishop Gene Savoy Jr. was traveling in Peru, and so he was unable to meet him. However, Shawn did bring a gift from Africa honoring Bishop Gene as the spiritual leader of the Community. (See photo.)

Rev. Dr. Smith explained the significance of his gift in a recent email to the Center:

It was my utmost joy to present to the Ordained of the International Community of Christ in Reno, Nevada, a gift representative of Cameroon at large and of the Bamileke in particular, to hand to the Bishop Right Rev. Gene Savoy Jr. on my behalf.

The Bamileke are native to Cameroon, settled predominantly in the West region, divided into eight major clans. Their traditions, which have been reverently preserved, can be historically traced for hundreds of years, but claim their origin from a time when there was a common exchange between the Dogon, Yoruba, and other prominent groups on the continent.

With the arrival of colonialism, most of the Bamileke outwardly converted to Christianity or Islam, but secretly held to their spiritual practices. Their Chief is the spiritual, politicaland military leader known as the “Fon.” His delegates and advisors are men of noble descent, initiated into the “mysteries” known as the “Kamveu.”

The traditional garb which I had the privilege to present is what the Kamveu wear when going behind a sacred curtain known as the “Ndop” to perform their practice veiled from “outsiders.”
My mother, being Bamileke, was able to obtain this on my behalf on the occasion of my visit, since it is to be presented to a great teacher of spiritual power. Each garb is hand made with particular symbols known particularly to those initiated within the “mysteries.”

It is with gratitude that offer this gift, to represent my hope that the people groups of Africa will also come appreciate what I am learning in the System of Cosolargy.
