Today I write to you while we’re in the midst of our annual Convocation, which officially convened yesterday. For those of you who cannot be with us at the Community Center in Reno, I ask that you join our fellowship in Spirit. Tomorrow at the Sanctuary Monastery Gardens, we will begin our review of The Secret Sayings of Jamil; and Friday, I will deliver Sayings 25, 26 and 27, which have not as yet been published. We are anticipating a very productive gathering – one which will bring with it many blessings. In the meantime, let’s continue our review of The Sayings with the Sixth Saying.

The Sixth Saying

“‘When mortal man absorbs the rays of the sun he begins to have thoughts of heaven. For his eyes meet with the eye of God and a communion is established. This is the beginning of his return to the source of his origin. If the human race were to absorb the energy of the sun for a few generations, the need for material food would diminish and man would shine like the sun, walking in his true Image which is brilliant light. When this state occurs death will have lost its hold on the family of man.

“‘All those who would take the road to immortality must first consume the Light of the sun, God’s Image to man. And then they must learn to assimilate the Word within the Image. After having done this the initiate breathes the breath of God which first brought life to man as a being of Light. And this is neither the incoming nor the outgoing breath of the mortal body. It is the breath of the soul that beats in unison with the sun and is called the heavenly heart. And with the beating the soul is nourished by a Light which is to the soul what blood is to the body. And as the mortal body of man ages due to the consumption of earthly food, the Light body grows in strength from the sun and the breath of God.

“‘In old age a man with a Light body has no need of earthly food, and requires but air and the breath, and water and light. And in time the aged man will merge with his Creator as the Image and the Word and be freed from mortality. And this breathing I did demonstrate during my life on earth. And I have endowed the school with the methods by which it may be learned within the System. Teach the members of the Order to emulate that which I exemplified.’

“And when The Man took his eyes from the codex one of the Companions asked: ‘You have told us before how Jamil breathed very lightly during the day and at night ceased to breathe at all, or at least nearly so. How do you account for this?’ And The Man replied saying: ‘We are mortal beings and our material bodies do require proper nourishment of food and water, and especially oxygen. But we are also of divine origin with spiritual bodies that require proper nourishment of sunlight, and particularly the Light of God streaming out of the Sun of Righteousness. Jamil was in harmonious communion with God during His short life on earth. He was more light than matter, becoming almost transparent at times. He simply lived off the light and was nourished by it spiritually and physically in a way not possible by mortals.

“‘We, however, must begin the road back to God by absorbing sunlight and establishing a communion with God. In time the breath body, which involves the areas at the top of the head and the base of the spine, will grow stronger and assume a more pronounced role in the regulation of the physical body. We should strive to enliven or vivify this breath body before the physical body decays. Upon death of the physical body we move on to the Worlds of Light in possession of this breath body.

“‘The Brahmans referred to the up-breathing and called it Prána, to the down-breathing as Apána, to the back-breathing as Vyána, to the out breathing as Udána and to the on-breathing as Samána. And they knew that in order to find the True Breath they must first eat the food of the Tree of Life and partake of the light and knowledge imprisoned in the sun. This breathing is not to be confused with that of air, but with Agni, which is both the fire of the sun and the knowledge imprisoned within the breath and speech. The Brahman system of immortality taught ages ago was a very complex one. Suffice it to say that the old sun worshiping Brahmans knew about gaining immortality by means of a very special conception that took place in the initiate through the `golden germ’ within the sun that lives off the fire and breath of the Brahman and the sun. The secret of immortality was involved with the breath body. In Genesis, God breathed the breath of life into man who became a living soul. In the Gospel of John the Word was with God in the beginning. From this we learn that the breath and the Word of God were united, just as speech must involve breath when spoken by man. We have already discussed Paul’s knowledge of the ‘Pneuma,’ the breath or fire body that lives off the energy of Christ. The development of the breath body was a secret Christian tradition lost down through the centuries. With the coming of Jamil we have regained knowledge of the breath body and the Image and the Word.’

“And another Companion said: ‘How do we begin the creation of the breath body?’ And The Man said: ‘You have already begun to set it in motion. Once the Light has began to circulate within, you will be forced to advance beyond the primary stage. This becomes possible by living the life that Jamil exemplified. Of utmost concern to us is the establishment of the Community of Light; for it is only in Community that the full benefits of the system are realized.’ And the same Companion asked: ‘Why is Community so important in the development of the breath body? Isn’t each person responsible for his own development?’ And The Man answered saying: ‘We have been instructed to build the Community and take our teachings to the whole family of man. The ability of any person to create and maintain the breath body is dependent to a very large degree upon fellowship. Had there been a larger community to assist Jesus, he might not have been crucified. As it was, his energies were drained and there was no one to fortify him. Each fellow benefits the other in Community. The same condition applied to Jamil. Had there been more of us to help, we might have kept him from leaving the world. As it was, too many people drew upon his energies. depleting them. If the twin Christs were not able to survive in the negativity of the world, think how small are our chances to develop and maintain the breath body on our own.

“‘In ancient times the master adepts withdrew to mountain retreats seeking isolation from the crowded cities. But our world has grown so complex it is difficult for man to find such isolation. No, my fellow Companions, the time has come to take our teachings to the world at large. Only by converting the whole of mankind can we hope to obtain our goals.’

“And having thus spoken, The Man continued to read.”

Next week, we will be convening the annual Convocation of The Community. I cannot express in words how excited I am at the prospects of this year’s gathering. We are expecting many people from all around the world, which shows the diversity and international composition of our School and Order. Consociates and ministers from Japan, Mexico, Canada, Australia, Germany, Cameroon and, of course, the United States will be attending.

On Monday and Tuesday, September 9th and 10th, following the general Convocation, we will be hosting The Community’s first-ever “Special Training Seminar on Cosolargy International Operations for Global Representatives.” This special training seminar will focus on systems and procedures used at the Reno Center for dealing with inquiries into The Academy program, enrollment, precepting, and the like. This training is vital as The Community expands its operations and programs in places such as Japan, Mexico and Australia. I’m happy to say that we are moving forward in a very positive direction! And now, let us continue with our review of The Secret Sayings of Jamil.

The Fifth Saying

“‘No man enters into the presence of the White Light wherein dwells the Father until one becomes a Glory and a Power of God. Because God is all Light, man must assume the form and the being of Light.

“‘The life of Light is of all things most difficult. Yet there is but one, single road. Make certain that all who ask for the Teachings understand that unity within the Community of those practicing the Teachings is paramount. Man is a complex of many forms, many beings, many personalities and many entities. The unenlightened do not know who they are, from whence they came or where they are going. They believe death will free them from their agony. But there is no freedom for man as long as he denies his own divinity. Therefore, insist that all those who ask for the Teachings know they are of divine origin and wish to return to that origin.

“‘Only the spiritually motivated are worthy of the Teachings. The intellectual, scientific or curious who come to the school for instruction should be discouraged for they do not understand that they are driven by their own animal natures, or their mind, or their psyche that is, in turn, driven by mischievous spirit entities that control what such individuals believe to be themselves. Man does not yet understand that he is not alone in the struggle for authority over the body. As the body provides energy to the multiplicity of forms struggling for nourishment within it, man’s spirit feeds the many parasitic entities that come to it seeking Light. Thus, when the body of the unsuspecting soul dies, the spirit dies with it, having been diffused.

“‘Those seeking immortality must learn how to regenerate themselves by applying natural and divine philosophy. A great abundance of energy is required to free the individual from the hordes of parasites that sap it, and the source of this energy begins in the sun. And with incoming light comes increased intelligence. And herein lies the danger. For with increased energy and intelligence, the initiate shines like a flame in a darkened cave attracting an abundance of forms and entities seeking Light for nourishment.

“‘Many schools of antiquity knew the secret of nourishing the body and the mind with the sun`s energy. But looking at the sun does not assure immortality. It is a most dangerous beginning because the initiate introduces cosmic forces into his inner being that often overwhelm him. Also, part of his being is projected into the cosmos wherein dwell spirit entities stronger than his own nature. Therefore, without the proper keys, illumination through the sun holds grave dangers for the unsuspecting. It is far better that a person not look at the sun and communicate with powers greater than himself until he acknowledges the need for spiritual assistance from intermediaries. Therefore, the school should not encourage the irresponsible to involve themselves with powers they do not know of without having made a complete and total commitment to the doctrines and disciplines of the school beforehand.

“‘The use of God’s Image and Word by His Powers begins in the spiritual realms where it attains it’s highest purpose. Once an adept of the school of Light takes the road to immortality through the heavens, he is in need of the protection which only God and the Angels of Light can bestow.

“‘The secret symbols and rites which you have received in the Light shall be given in like manner to those who pledge themselves to the Life of Light I have exemplified. But, first you must teach those who would follow the System of Teachings according to the disciplines the proper means of nourishing the unfolding Light body they would generate in harmony with the Angels of Light.’

“Having finished the reading, The Man looked upon those gathered around him. And hearing no questions he continued with the Sixth Saying.”

We continue this week with our review of The Secret Sayings of Jamil. Please bear in mind that these cryptic lines are very meaningful to those who have been in The Community for some time and may be more of a riddle for those newer to The System. However, they do become clearer as time goes on and one’s spiritual development and understanding unfolds.

The Fourth Saying

“‘To all those worthy ones who come to the School seeking instruction in the ways of Light, teach them the proper means of realizing their divine origins. They must first fill their beings with the Light of God’s New Sun, dispelling the darkness which holds all men of the world. And they will be filled with God’s spirit of truth and illuminated with the Image and the Word. By these means they will be born again and learn to speak a language that gives an understanding of the supernatural knowledge of the heavens. Once recreated in Light, they will be freed from the drugs of the senses addicted to the material world. Thus they will be freed from death and partake of their immortality. When this is done they will call the Light their true abode and serve the true God which is spirit and truth. And they shall be instructed in the rites and formulas of God’s agents working on the earth. And from the priests and the agents of darkness they shall take away the power to hold sway over the minds and souls of men by the employment of these rites and formulas.

‘And God’s agents of Light upon the earth will enlighten man, exposing the false gods for what they are: namely, lower entities who have falsely taken the name of the true God. When mankind ceases to worship and adore them they will lose their power over man. And when man extricates himself from this multitude of false gods he will be free to participate in his own immortality and commune with God. Never in all the history of the world has man ever allowed a religion of Light to dominate his societies and institutions. And the dark entities and their agents shall not willingly let go of their followers. And they would work a great harm against men of Light.

‘But the magic and the power of the Image and the Word used in conjunction with the energy of the sun by God’s agents shall nullify any power used against them. And lest any of God’s ministers abuse this mighty power of mystical formulas they shall learn in the school of Light, insist that each emulate the life I exemplified. Teach them the Way of it firstly, for such power has tempted even the gods who even now use this knowledge to dominate mankind. It was for this reason they caused the ancient tablets and scrolls to be destroyed to keep man in ignorance of his rightful powers.’

“And to these words a Companion responded by saying: ‘You have not mentioned these magical formulas before. What do they constitute? Are they the secret names of the angels which are mentioned in some of the scrolls, believed to have been left by the Essenes, found in the vicinity of the Dead Sea? Are the formulas alchemical? Hermetic arts of conjuring spirits and the like were highly secret. I believe when Alexander the Great exhumed the tomb of Hermes Trismegistus a great emerald tablet, called Tabula Smaragdina Hermitus, was found on which were symbolic writings, the meaning of which has not survived. Are the formulas mentioned by Jamil hermetic? Did not the Zoroastrians believe that in the final age of the world Zoroaster’s mystical writings of the secrets of nature would be recovered from a cave on the peaks of the Thian-Shan range? And, of course, we have the Christian writings that speak of the Seven Great Seals that will be opened in the last days of the world. Apollonious of Tyana refers to a mysterious kind of Divination of the Stars and a system of miracles and of healing. The instituted rites of the Magi at Babylon, and the natural and divine astrology of the Egyptians, the Orphic Mysteries and the Gnostic symbology are all lost to us, but with their repossession man would have great power. Do the Sayings of Jamil refer to these and other Arcana? Can you tell us more on the nature of the magical rites we are to employ?’

“And to this The Man replied that he was not at liberty to tell them. They must first learn how to exemplify the life that Jamil lived, which could very well take the better part of a lifetime, even with total dedication. And when they inquired how they might learn to do so, he told them that the Fifth Saying spoke of this. And the Companions urged him to continue with the reading.”
