And here is the first portion of the commentary relating to the Eleventh Saying. I apologize for the length, but there was not a good way to shorten it.
The Eleventh Saying (Part 2 of 4)
“When The Man finished reading, he put down the paper and waited. And each of the mariners contemplated his words. And no one spoke for several minutes. Still The Man waited. And after a time the First Mariner spoke saying: ‘Is this to say that we, the adepts of the Community, are to be the observers of the injustices or wrong doings of the world, and to call upon solar forces to administer justice, or just punishment?’
“And seeing some concern on the faces of the mariners, The Man took a copy of the Bible and, leafing through the thin rice pages, came to a section that was marked by a red ribbon. And speaking softly and directly to the seafarer who had asked the question he said: ‘Let me read you chapter 4 of the book of Malachi from the Old Testament:
“‘For, behold, the day cometh, that shall burn as an oven; and all the proud, yea, and all that do wickedly, shall be stubble: and the day that cometh shall burn them up, saith the Lord of hosts, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch. But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings; and ye shall go forth, and grow up as calves of the stall. And you shall tread down the wicked; for they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet in the day that I shall do this, saith the Lord of hosts. Remember ye the Law of Moses my servant, which I commanded unto him in Horeb for all Israel, with the statutes and judgements. Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord: And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers, lest I come and smite the earth with a curse.’
“And laying the holy book down beside him The Man spoke: ‘Men throughout the Christian world have asked and prayed for the Second Coming of Christ. They forget that when Jesus spoke about the final age of the world, when God shall judge it, he said there would be no Light, but Darkness. Men forget that they are to be judged for their crimes, not rewarded by God . The injustices on this planet are not only an abomination to the dignity of Man, but a crime so horrendous that I have no words to describe it. These crimes occur in prisons, institutions and in society. We can recall what took place in the camps during the great war. There were men, God fearing men, who were cremated, tortured, abused, deprived of all dignity and treated like cattle or worse, because other men had chosen to oppress them. These crimes still continue today on a very large scale where politically-minded persons believe they have the right to do whatever they will against the citizenry of the world simply because there is no one to oppose them. The aged are mistreated. Widows and orphans go hungry. The young are exposed to immoral and unrighteous teachings. Crime and unethical ways are encouraged by those given the responsibility of helping the unfortunate. Homes of correction and prisons abuse those sent to them for help. The sick and infirm are exploited by healers and makers of drugs and medicines. Judges misuse their powers. Public media poison the minds of the populace with propaganda. People of power and wealth make commerce of human beings. Politicians and dictators deny Man the right of individual freedom, the right to worship God, or to know the truth.
“‘Who is to judge powerful nations and powerful men who govern and dominate the lives of the populace? They have become powers unto themselves. Are they to be allowed to continue their mistreatment and injury to the human soul? We all should thank God that He has sent the Sun of Justice, the Messianic Sun, to judge the world for its wrongdoings against Man and Heaven. If we believe in law and order, in justice and goodness, then let mankind be judged by a superior power. If we believe in righteousness, then let God, the true King of the world, mete out justice to men and nations. We know from what has been told us that Man is to be judged not by Man, or by the laws of Man, but by God and by God’s laws. When we of this Community see injustice, wrongdoing and crime against individuals, peoples and nations, we should pray to God through the Light of His Sun to judge these wrongdoers by strong Light. By these means they will be burned up, we are told. Whether this is a figurative statement or not, I do not know. But I suspect that individuals who do wrong will be inflamed by an inner Light. Perhaps nations, and the world, will be burnt away by a strong Light from the Sun. To me, it is a wonderful thing that God has sent the means to accomplish a great good in the world. If Man has set himself up above God’s Law then he must answer for it.
“‘No adept has the power to punish Man. But he can observe wrongdoing and pray to God to correct it through the Sun of Justice. I believe that if enlightened adepts of Light fail to serve as humanity’s protectors, if they neglect their responsibility by allowing crime to be committed, then the world is lost. We all know there is no earthly power alone, no individual power, that can assist mankind in the world today.
“‘I am not speaking here only about crimes of violence and brutality, but of those more sinister crimes against the human Spirit; crimes against humanity by men in power who bend and twist the minds of men away from their dignity and status as children of God. Such powers seek to reshape human souls and turn them away from their own spiritual rights given by God. They would bend men to the Earth, taking away their individual rights as divine beings. Such powers deny that Man has greater rights than those afforded by earthly rulers. They kill the mind and the Spirit and make of human beings playthings of the powers of Darkness whose intent it is to deny mankind forever its immortality. I tell you, gentlemen, these are crimes to be feared more than any other, even those of armies which rule men by force. For Darkness kills the human Spirit silently and it passes away into oblivion as if it had never been. But we know that God’s Light manifest in the Sun of Justice is more powerful than any weapon of war, more powerful than any material power of the Earth. No living thing can withstand the Light that has come in the Sun. And this is what is meant in the biblical passage which says that the Earth shall burn as an oven and all that do wickedly shall burn with it. Not for two thousand years have the prophets of God wielded such a power to do good on Earth. Therefore, it is important that men and women of God unify themselves into an enlightened Order and become the instruments of God on Earth and servants of the people who are crying out for illumination. Who shall help them it not men and women of God? If we could but observe on all the Earth the wickedness and evil promulgated by people of power who are in league with the powers of Darkness because they are so dominated, though to all appearances they are sworn to uphold the law, but for the most part are corrupt, accept bribes, encourage the use of drugs in society, tolerate organized crime, abuse people of all ages, cause whole nations to be armed against their neighbors, forced to build weapons of war and kept in bondage because of the debt thereof, we would want to do something about it – just as the knights of Light and angelic powers in olden times fought for goodness. The time may come, gentlemen, when it will be too late to help.
“‘I don’t believe the Sun of Righteousness is a flaming sword in the hand of adepts that is going to be wielded day by day to cut down the wicked. I believe the Sun works very slowly, but surely. But, the Light of God must be turned on Man’s institutions which are opposed to God, which carry on the work of evil, and the work of the Devil, and the work of Darkness. For those of Light who stand idly by, and watch the world be corrupted by Darkness without doing anything about it, are not fit to look upon the face of the Sun. Think back to Jesus and his actions. Think back to the actions of the apostles, and what they tried to do, to bring about among the peoples of the world. We, as illuminated Souls, must uphold the goodness of God and His Light in the world.”
