WEEKLY MESSAGE: April 20, 2022

HEAD OVERSEER’S WEEKLY MESSAGE

Wednesday, April 20, 2022

I hope you had a blessed Easter – both traditional Easter Sunday as celebrated in the West and Second Advent Easter, which we observe every year on April 18th according to our Sacred Calendar and which is based on solar reckoning.

We commemorated both days with Sunrise Divine services at the Cathedral Church of the Americas in Sanctuary. The Sunday service was followed by an Easter lunch and an egg hunt for the children, and the Monday service was followed by a breakfast fellowship and a day of contemplation – receiving the many blessings bestowed. It was a powerful sunrise and a beautiful day here at the Community Center.

We will now proceed with our Part 11 of the Twenty-second Saying of Jamil.

The Twenty-second Saying (Part 11)

“And a second female Companion of The Way spoke saying, ‘What are the plans of The Community for educating the young and helping them follow The Way?’

“Noting the sincerity of mind of the speaker, the sage said to her: ‘We are faced with the eternal problem of living in the world as human beings and being under the laws of the material State. We are not always free to worship God or to express our spiritual and religious natures, even here in America, without restrictions being imposed upon us. The same applies to the education of our children in the Church. We will always have to contend with the secular-minded who wish to impose civil law as being the only law of the land upon the spiritual and religious-minded. They forget, or would like to forget, that the founders of the American Constitution intended religion to be free. It is difficult for a new religion such as ours to make a place for itself within the framework of secular law with all of its restrictions and stringent laws governing the education of children, indeed of its populace as a whole, which, of course, is essential for any civilized nation ruled by law and order. And it is difficult for the secular-minded to make room within the framework of the secular State for religious education of children. It is a difficult problem, but one that will have to be solved by the Church according to need.

“‘For example, the Church does maintain a parochial school. Children of ministers are educated in accordance with Jamilian Doctrines while meeting the requirements of the State educational authorities. It is essential that, if we are to build the ministry, it must needs begin with the children. Education needs to start early in life. As our Church grows and prospers, a greater number of children will be educated. But until the Church becomes successful and prosperous this will be difficult. It is for this reason that the ministry needs to take The Teachings to the people, so that larger numbers of people will become more familiar with and accepting of The Teachings.

“‘We need to proclaim The Teachings in order for the citizenry to accept us. Once this is achieved, the Church will be allowed more opportunities than at present: because any small, unpopular religion will be viewed with suspicion by the majority of older and more established churches that have such a great influence upon the secular-minded.

“‘However, until such time that we are accepted, we must not allow ourselves to be dictated to and governed, ruled and manipulated by the State, or we will not fulfill our destiny, which is to teach the True Religion to all the world. It is our sacred obligation to exemplify righteousness and to teach others in the need for righteousness. Only in this way can the world be restored to spirit. Education is, of course, the most fundamental means of altering the world for the coming of God.’”

This portion of the Saying expresses the importance of education and the rearing of children in The Community and in the Sacred Teachings of Light. There is mention of our parochial school. Many of you know that we operated and maintained a K-12 school. The curriculum was approved by the State while at the same time allowing for the spiritual and religious education of the children. We graduated several classes, and I am proud to have been in the first.

We ran our school from 1977 to 1998. Unfortunately, however, due to increased regulations, restrictions and costs (such as liability insurance), we had to suspend our activities. I say “suspend” because we have every intention of resuming and reorganizing our parochial school at some time in the future when proper faculty, staff and funding become available to us.

For the time being, the children of The Community are privileged to receive exceptional studies in comparative religion, the System of Cosolargy, and the Teachings of Light that prepare them for more formal studies in The Academy and the Sacred College. In addition, they serve as attendants during sunrise and other services and are part of the Jamilian Handbell Choir.

I will speak more of this in September during Convocation when I deliver the annual State of The Community address. I trust you will be there to hear it. I am looking forward to seeing you there.

Again, if I may be of any personal service to you, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Very truly yours in Light+,

Gene

WEEKLY MESSAGE: April 13, 2022

HEAD OVERSEER’S WEEKLY MESSAGE

Wednesday, April 13, 2022

“Upon hearing these words, the Companion who had spoken first said, ‘By bringing the ancient teachings up to date, that is, by using current terminology to present much of the mystical aspect of the spiritual life as carried forth from the old masters to the present time, we are given a living and dynamic teaching for our age. It is a repetition of the ancient teachings, and yet it is a renewal of the old and universal Truth and the desire for union with the Sun of Righteousness and the living of The Way.’

“The Teacher replied, ‘It is important for us to remember that whether Jesus was the prophesied Messiah of suffering in the Book of Isaiah or whether he was a world Messiah is not as important as the message he had to give to the world. And that message was an echo of that which had come before. Had it not been so, he would not have promised a return. Christians seem to be ignorant of this. They believe that before Jesus there was no immortality of the Soul which, of course, is not true. They also believe that unless a person uses Jesus as an intermediary, there is no immortality of Soul, which cannot be true either.

“‘If we put Jesus in the proper historical context, we see that he was trying to reveal knowledge to the world and the means by which humankind could gain access to God. God is the Father of All. God is the Head of His Church. And The Church must be the Body of the Ordained, the Body of the Immortals, whose spirits have been redeemed and form the living Body of God which is His Church. God is the Head, the Image, the High Priest, and The Word – the only Vicar. And I think Jesus would insist upon that if he were alive today.

“‘It is only through The Image and The Word of God that man and woman ascend. And if we see that this Image and Word is the true mediator between Man and God, and that knowledge of God can only come by and through God, not from any person, then we see that True Religion is universal, is representative of The Way – it has always existed, and even if it is lost, it continually returns and is restored to the world. We happen to be in the Final Age, an age of transition in the world. Therefore, knowledge of this religion is extremely important to us today.

“‘The Second Advent Church brings knowledge of olden things but in a new context inasmuch as God has revealed Himself in the Sun of Righteousness in a very meaningful and powerful manner. Humanity must needs take advantage of this manifestation in this New Church.’”

Now, speaking of the Second Advent, the Sun of Righteousness, and the New Church, these are some of the important topics we will be discussing at this year’s Community Convocation and Cosolargy Seminar in September as we celebrate 60 years since the dawn of the New Age. You can expect to be hearing from us soon to assure your attendance and participation at this very special time in the history of our Community. I am looking forward to seeing you as we fellowship together.

Again, if I may be of any personal service to you, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Very truly yours in Light+,

Gene

  • April 8, 2022

The combined 2022 Cosolargy Convocation and Seminar will be held in Reno from September 7th through September 12th. This year is a very special year, as it marks the 60th anniversary of the birth of the Sun of Righteousness and the announcement of God’s Second Advent. It is also a cosmically important 20-year cycle – the 3rd since 1962. The planned schedule includes:

Residence Training: Color & Sacred Imagery

Part 1 is six hours of oral instruction on the psycho-physical and spiritual bodies; color polarities; demonstrations on the use of gemstones, the sacred thread, and mirrors; and the use of color in ancient medical practices. Part 2 is an expansion of Part 1 in four hours of oral instruction on healing, the use of the sacred thread and vestments, the Pythagorean image of the sun, and the awakening of the force centers.

    Readings: The Jamil Commentaries

Originally published in 1973, a series of six moving impressions expressed by people who actually met The Child with a foreword by Gene Savoy Jr., who met and knew each of the six individuals. Included in the commentaries is Jamil’s natal chart.

    Presentations:

    • The Three Communions – Gene Savoy Jr.

A comprehensive commentary on the three communions – the communion of bread and water, the communion of light, and the communion of the Divine Presence – their importance, meanings, and related symbologies.

    • Solar Cultures of Africa – Shawn Smith

Every culture that applied The System has something to offer us. This includes the many solar cultures that existed in Africa. This presentation will focus mainly on the Dogon of western Africa.

    • Liturgical Chimes and Hand Gestures – Bruce Kanzelmeyer

Sound, color, and an introduction to chants and gestures used in the Sunrise Divine Service. (click here for more details).

    • Origins of Shingon Buddhism – Yukinori Matsushita

Shingon Buddhism, meaning “True Word,” is one of the major sects of Buddhism in Japan and was founded by Kukai (774 – 835 CE), known posthumously as Kobo Daisih, after he traveled to China, where he studied Tangmi under the monk Huiguo and became a Teacher of Light and introduced a solar religion to Japan. His school at Mount Koya has one of the few replicas in the world of the so-called Nestorian Monument.

    • What is Metanoia ? – Ted Staver

Exploring the concept of metanoia as it relates to The System of Cosolargy and The Community as a whole: the forms of metanoia; metanoia as regeneration of spirit and a special state of grace that is a blanket over the Community; collective manifestation of metanoia and Shekinah; the oral tradition of the paradosis as the secret of parousia and the means to metanoia.

    • The Solar Cross and The Sacred Calendar

“The Sacred Calendar” – Amanda Buchanan

The geometry of the Sacred Calendar, sacred days and how they were derived, the calculation of sunrises and sunsets, and how the calendar relates to the Solar Cross.

“The Solar Cross” – Michael McIntyre

A multi-faceted approach on the symbology of the Solar Cross borrowing from the disciplines of anthropology, cognitive science, ancient texts, geometry, and psycholinguistics.

    • The Essene Legacy – Robert Petrovich

    • New Scientific views of Consciousness – Rebecca Willis

A new movement within science is working to overturn the currently accepted materialistic worldview and its limitations on understanding the human spirit. Their work offers new perspectives on consciousness while laying a groundwork for greater receptivity to the teachings of Cosolargy within society.

    • State of The Community Address – Gene Savoy Jr.

A report by the Head Overseer on the activities of The Community; on things accomplished; projects in the works or nearing completion; and strategies, tasks, and ventures planned for the near future.
