The Twenty-fourth Saying (Part 11)

“The disciple then asked, ‘Is it possible that a person can be reborn in spirit, and live The Way, and not have any physical sensation of that spiritual rebirth? Are we to ignore the physical body, as an ascetic rejects care of the body?’

“And The Teacher said, ‘Each has bodily needs, such as nourishment, hygiene, rest, and exercise that need to be administered. Asceticism is not required, unless one requires such discipline. For the most part, one should lead a balanced life in which the bodily needs are provided for but not at the exclusion of the spiritual needs. Indeed, the spiritual should have preference.

“‘But, by living under God’s Image and Word, one becomes aware of a higher way of life. That higher way of life can only be expressed within the Church. It cannot be expressed outside of it because The Way of Light is a liturgical way. It is a way of ordered and structured life, just as the movement of the stars is ordered and structured. The spiritual life of this Church is liturgical – a living ceremony and rite as a pattern that moves in accordance with spiritual bodies and energies. God’s Plan for world redemption requires that all living things work in balance with, and in accordance to, Divine Order. Thus, ministers of the Church live an ordered, liturgical life designed to give meaningful existence while participating in God’s Divine Plan.

“‘As gnostic teachers would put it, we are trapped in this world. Being trapped, our one way out is to serve God. However, this must be done in accordance with His Divine Plan, not with any plan of our own making or design. The ancients instructed their students in the concept that the spiritual devotee is desirous of breaking the cycle of rebirths, as the Buddhists say. The spiritual person wants to break away from the onion skin layers and not be trapped therein for all time.

“‘It was always taught that every person who ever lived is caught in one of those layers or frequency levels. There is no escape, according to this concept. A person never leaves this world once one is in it until one frees oneself spiritually. This explains why a spiritual discipline is so important in order to free oneself from the grip of the world frequency. An abundance of energy is required to break the hold. And this also explains why people who lack discipline always fall prey to stronger minds or wills, trapped in the frequency layers that are able to incarnate within a person and energize that individual with pre-existent power and force.

“‘An enraged person will take on the criminal mind and be driven to acts not of his or her own person. Anger, violence, and hate have a tendency to break down a person’s own will and allow a stronger will to come in and take over. This explains why so many people become possessed when in fits of temper. The old, evil minds of crazed men still exist – the strongest one being Satan or the Devil – but the list could also include Attila, Napoleon, Hitler, Stalin, and others. To escape this world, one requires an outside energy and force: the incarnation of a superior Light Personage within one’s being. The Image and Word of God is that Power used by the spiritual devotee of the Church of the Second Advent.’”

The Twenty-fourth Saying (Part 8)

“The Man having concluded his statement, a second Companion of The Way said, ‘I was wondering if the vibrational frequency of the earth could be magnified at that time when the Seven Teachers from the world religions embrace this Teaching?’

“The Man replied to this question by saying, ‘The more teachers and the more following, the more impact we are going to have on the world. The coming forth of the Seven Teachers of the Ecumenical Order of the Churches and Religions of the world, of course, is destined. However, there is a matter of suppression that is facing us. Our problem is that the Powers of Darkness will marshal the nations of the world and the State religions against us. Those are the religions to be feared, the religions of the State, in which the State is considered to be the image of goodness and the leader of that nation the great prophet.

“‘Peoples are inclined to serve these prophets and State religions. The State is becoming a living god – it feeds the people, cares for them, provides their material and social needs. The god is bountiful as long as homage is paid to it. As a consequence, the State has become the epitome of the Powers of Darkness because it has a tendency to suppress religion and all spiritual expression.

“‘What appears Good is not Good at all, because fear is used to suppress the people. Large standing armies are maintained; police control is emphasized. All must obey: people and weaker nations. All are threatened with destruction if the will of the State is not strictly followed. With the suppression of spiritual forces, the psychic powers take over and the State and its people are threatened by powers beyond human control. I am not speaking of any one country, but rather of a state of mind that seems to be taking over the world at large.

“‘Therefore, it is the unification in Ecumenical Order of adherents of the Image and the Word in this Church that will create the vibrational frequency necessary, which will come from the sun, not from the earth. Nothing that we can do on this earth is going to restore it to goodness. The restoration must come from the physical sun and the spiritual Sun. The Sun is the only means available to us. Teachers cannot of themselves alter the world. They can only create an Order. Together, Teachers and the Order can influence the sun of the solar system and pray for the Power of God from the Sun of Righteousness to restructure the world.

“‘This Church, and humanity as a whole, is faced with a tremendous struggle. But we, as Teachers and as members of the Order, do have a priceless treasure – a spirit reborn, a Soul which we can use for the duration of our lifetimes here. It is our task to build a solid foundation for the Church on an ecumenical level and to reflect to the spiritual Sun and the physical sun during the remainder of our lifetimes. When we leave the earth, we will carry on the work in spirit. But our task is to create the Order here so it will endure.’”

The Twenty-fourth Saying (Part 7)

Please pay special attention to this portion of the Saying, as I find it very profound and answers many questions.

“Then the second Mariner to speak said, ‘I understand the need for educating the members of the many religions of the world and the clergy and laity of the Christian religion. However, the only way we can instruct or educate people is if they desire to be instructed or educated. How do we do this? It seems to me that the very people we will have to educate or instruct will be critical or will label us heretical. What can be done to make them want to come to us?’

“The Man answered saying, ‘While we are being trained to become Disciples of God and to become Teachers of the Image and the Word in the Church fulfilled in an ecumenical manner for the unification of all churches and all religions into one, we must acknowledge our human limitations.

“‘We have developed our spiritual Vision to look upon the Sun of Spirit. We have also strengthened our faculty of vision to look upon the sun of the world – the sun of the solar system by which all physical life is sustained – the same that lights and heats the earth. But the True Light that lights the world is God’s Sun of Righteousness – the Sun of Creation. And because we are laboring within the Righteous Church and exemplifying the Righteous Life, we have an effect on the physical sun.

“‘While we are involved in the great struggle between the Powers of Light and the Powers of Darkness, which is a cosmic and dimensional event, we must constantly keep in mind that the Righteous Way that we live has an influence upon the material sun. Indeed, it has been said that we are to use the sun as a Sword of Light and Justice to do battle with unrighteousness wherever it is found on Earth. We thus make the sun more brilliant, and we invoke God to make the Sun shine seven times brighter than before to burn up the wicked. We do not understand the nature of this brilliance, but we do know that Evil will be blotted out and that the Good will be able to live on Earth as a result.

“‘With the strengthening of the sun’s rays, whether by heat or by some kind of illuminated intelligence – after all, this has been prophesied and must take place since it was a godly thought recorded by Holy Ones – the world will cry out for guidance, leadership and instruction because without these it will not be able to survive. If we take air away from a person or plunge that person under water for a long period of time, that person will become desperate. Likewise, without Light people are going to become desperate.

“‘The problem is that the nations of the world that claim God’s creatures for their own may try to destroy this Church as they did the Church of the First Dispensation. It remains with the Teachers of this School to perpetuate the Teachings and ensure its survival. We are more than just Teachers living The Way. We are spiritual warriors who are fighting with Light against Darkness. This Light comes from our souls, from our minds, and from our spirits. This Light has to be handled wisely. Since it is our destiny to assist God in bringing about the salvation of the world, we can assume that the cosmic battle will bring adherents to our Teaching.’”

We concluded the Advent Vigil on Monday the 6th with a beautiful Sunrise Divine Service at the Sanctuary. Now that we have entered a new year according to our Sacred Calendar, we will resume our review of the Secret Sayings of Jamil.

The Twenty-fourth Saying (Part 7)

And The Man continued answering the Mariner’s question.

“‘The ancients said that this world is enveloped by layers of thought patterns. They might be called frequencies – like an onion skin. These layers or frequencies are built up over the centuries by thought and worship. These layers are continually fed and nurtured by thought patterns, worship ceremonies, rites and so forth. These layers entrap people. It is difficult to break out of them. People are dictated to by these frequencies, and they become more powerful with the passing time, that is, if they are nurtured or fed.

“‘If a person believes in a god that is violent, worships that god through sacrifice, harms the innocent, serves himself, gains power at the expense of others, that person is in fact feeding a false god and building up the power of a frequency layer, as the ancients said. Such people are not worshiping the True God. No matter their good intentions, they are only feeding a false god which has nothing to do with the True God at all. That is why religions of violence are eventually destroyed by a greater power. They always bring about their own destruction, as do the nations that follow them. This is inevitable.

“‘As Jerusalem and the Hebrew people were destroyed, we can predict that Western civilization, as we know it, and the Christian faith will be destroyed unless they correct their errors and take hold of a way of life that is not violent and serves the True God.’

“And the same Mariner asked, ‘Will you please clarify? As a devotee strengthens the Light by virtue of worship of the True God through Christ, that is, God as Mediator, Redeemer and Savior by means of the Image and the Word and by living The Way, does the worship of a false god, no matter what name one gives it – whether it be Jehovah or some other entity – inevitably feed the Dark One?’

“The Man replied, ‘As Jesus taught, as this Church teaches, one must be born again in order to know God. To be born again, one must look upon the Image and receive the Word of God within one’s spirit. And to prevent the spirit from dying as it is aborning, it is essential that one live The Way. Unless one possesses a Soul, that is, a reborn spirit created in the Image and Word of God, one cannot know the True God. The bodily senses, the mind, the emotions, the will, none experience God. Because God is spirit, only spirit can know God. God does not hear words spoken with the mouth. He does not listen to prayers over a rosary or over a book. God is worshiped by a reborn spirit – a pure Soul that lives The Way. That is the only thing He receives.

“So if a person prays to a god and reads scripture thinking that it is God’s Word, that person’s sincerity does not matter. That person is not worshiping the True God. He or she is simply worshiping a god of his or her own making, or that god created by a false religion. If a person understood the great harm that is done by following an ignorant way, if that person saw the results of this wrong doing, if one saw the terror, the horror of following Evil, one would change from this way. This is a hard saying and difficult for the uninitiated to understand. Worshiping some god, participating in rite and ceremony, praying, denying oneself, speculating on Creation, all these are fruitless. One must be born again by God’s Image and Word, and then be re-created in the Image and the Word in order to do Good, and to do the Will of God. There is no other way to God.’”

Second Advent Vigil

The Community began the Second Advent Vigil with a special combined Pannuches Meal and Remembrance of The Child Service on Saturday, January 28th, in the Chapel of the Holy Child. The evening service continued the seven-week cycle of 50 days but also commemorated the passing of The Child, Jamil, at midnight January 29/30, 1962. The following morning, Sunday, January 29th, the sunrise vigil observing the birth of the Sun of Righteousness and the dawning of God’s Second Coming commenced. We will hold Sunrise Divine Service each morning at the Sanctuary (weather permitting) each day through the morning of February, 6th.

These are days of special blessing, and I hope you will join with us as we commune with the Messianic Sun. As always, I encourage you to reread the book, Jamil: Child of Light with special emphasis on the final chapter. We will resume our review of the Secret Sayings of Jamil next week.

The Twenty-fourth Saying (Part 6)

“‘Modern Christians have misunderstood the Teachings of Jesus, having gone back to the old traditional orthodox view of sacrifice held by the priests. They have perpetuated the Old Hebrew concept of Jehovah and sacrifice, the literal interpretation of scripture, and the Law. In view of what has been said, we see here a perpetuation of a god of wrath, of war, of judgement, and of persecution. This explains why the Christian nations have been continually involved in wars for nearly two thousand years.

“‘If a person sacrifices or prays to a false god or a god created by improper interpretation, he or she is not worshiping the True God. He or she is in fact feeding, as you say, nurturing, a created entity or force field. This is idolatry in the first degree.

“‘For example, people may pray on bended knee to a statue of Saint Joseph or to a carving of Jesus, imploring that person or entity to assist them in some way. They are not, of course, praying to God, but to a representation of some being dead or alive. An energy field is created by this kind of continual prayer and a force field is built up, we might say. But what psychic being or entity responds to that prayer? The prayer is energy – a kind of frequency. The Essenes, for instance, stated that the only worthy sacrifice to God was a pure heart and a pure mind. And that is very important. If one has an impure mind and an impure heart and one prays to an idol invoking the name of some god, power, or force, one should receive in exact proportion to one’s own state of purity. All of these prayers have created a false idol – a power-source of mind and psyche. Only the mind or psyche can be influenced, certainly not the spirit. We can see how this image-worship manifests in the world.

“‘Jesus, the peacemaker who adored the True God of Life and Love, taught The Way to be lived. If Christians would have followed his Teachings, they would have exemplified him, as did the very early Christians who died at the hands of the Roman authorities rather than take the path of violence. But Christians in recent centuries have chosen to follow the wrathful god of the scribes and have sacrificed Jesus to that god as a blood offering – a scapegoat. Christians have murdered other Christians. Protestants have killed Catholics. Catholics have killed Protestants. Protestants have killed Protestants. Catholics have killed Catholics. People claiming to serve God and claiming to serve Christ have, in fact, killed other people claiming to believe in God and to serve Christ.

“‘The Twenty-Fourth Saying tells us that there are three kinds of religion: the religion of the material world, the religion of the psychic world, and the True Religion of the True God. It is not difficult to identify them by their adherents and how they live.’”
