We have three more portions before we conclude our review of the Twentieth and Twenty-first Sayings of Jamil. Today’s segment is short, but the next two will be somewhat longer than average because there is not a good way to separate the messages. So, let us continue.

The Twentieth and Twenty-first Sayings (Part 14)

“And another Mariner, the sixth person to speak, said, ‘Could you speak to us of the roles of men and women in the world today and their approach to living under physical or natural laws and spiritual or supernatural laws? How do we separate the two when we look at the sun in the prescribed manner within The System as taught by the School?’

“And The Man answered him saying, ‘The physical sun contains the regulatory forces that govern the solar system. The planet responds to the sun, is regulated and governed by the sun, and all life is dictated by that sun. The earth does not have the potential to create life – only the sun does. As the earth cannot live without the sun, the sun cannot live without its source of energy and information from a higher Sun beyond it. We use the term spiritual Sun in an allegorical sense. The spiritual Sun is only an image, and that image is Light. And that Light consists of the Word of God, which is His Truth. And the Truth is contained within the Light, and yet the Light is Truth. So when you look at the physical sun, you are looking at pure intelligence. When you look at the Image of God in the Sun of Righteousness, you are looking at pure Spirit. The spiritual cannot be conceived by the physical senses of perception, only by the spiritual. And yet, because we do not have human natures equipped with preceptory senses and reasoning mind or intelligence, we use both human and spiritual faculties to attain God.’”

The Twentieth and Twenty-first Sayings (Part 13)

“Then a physician, the fifth person to speak, a Companion of The Way, said, ‘I understand that the human nature and the spiritual nature go along together, and that human nature cannot really affect the spiritual nature – the spiritual nature is more or less constant – but what I wonder is, does human nature have freedom of choice, and the spiritual nature, being predestined, does not?”

“And The Man answered the physician, ‘It is human to err. Humans use common sense, logic, reason, and their senses of perception to measure reality. We know that reality is different among individuals, and that the senses cannot be trusted as accurate measuring rods of reality. An individual changes about every seven years. Impressions of life vary according to state of health, status in life, environment, and situation in life. Each individual’s reaction to, and evaluation of, reality varies from day to day. Though reality changes, people believe they see reality as it is.

“‘Yet, what do we know of life in other galaxies trillions of light-years out into space? We have no way of measuring reality there. When we speak of God, we are speaking about the whole vastness of creation in worlds we cannot dare imagine. Mankind is very limited by the environment, the sources of energy available, and by food grown on the planet.

“‘In The System, we are fed on the energy of the sun that streams into it from other stellar systems filled with celestial information which our brain and nervous system are only able to handle with long exposure to this energy. We have no other means of understanding life in the universe except by new energy sources, such as that of our sun. The energy and information from the spiritual Sun, which opens new horizons even beyond the limited material universe, is our sole means of understanding God. We certainly cannot attempt any understanding of God by those energy sources available on the planet. The evolution of the brain and nervous system allows us access to higher forms of energy and information, just as the development of our spiritual faculties allows us to absorb spiritual information by means of the spiritual Sun of Righteousness. This spiritual information consists of creative intelligence. And this intelligence, of which we become part, instructs us. By living The System and The Way, we, like fetuses and infants, grow and develop and train ourselves to comprehend greater things of God. How does one explain something like this concerning freedom of choice to a person who is only interested in making money or seeking earthly pleasures? One cannot. For a person to understand the implications of this matter in question requires higher insight.’”

The Twentieth and Twenty-first Sayings (Part 12)

And The Man continued addressing the Mariners and Companions of The Way.

“‘We might recall that the early Christians, imitating Jesus, met death not only because of their strong belief in their way of life, but because of their disenchantment with the world and with the secular people around them. And because of the death of these people – the persecution of Christians and Essenes – the world lost a great amount of beauty, power and Light. Consequently, the world was plunged into a great Age of Darkness. It is our duty and responsibility to see that this does not happen again. Our lessons from history tell us we must take a different approach than that taken by the ancients. If we do not, the world and all humankind will perish. This is the warning of the prophets. Jamil echoes this warning.

“‘Celestial bodies – planets, the moon, the sun, comets, or any object in space – affect and regulate life on the planet. If we were to suddenly lose the moon, life would change. Man is not in control of his destiny; he responds to the environment. Thus, when we talk about a new Church and Ministry that can participate in and alter the environment of the planet, we begin to understand the scope of what we are involved in.

“‘The world is not a mechanical device that is regulated like a watch – it responds to the environment just like people do. The new Sun has created a new environment and the planet is responding to it. As ministers aware of this response and change, we have an advantage – a preview of coming events – which gives us the edge on survival. This is the secret to Man of the future – to learn of the new Sun, how to work with it, and how to adapt to it. In the same way the ancients learned how to adapt to the presence of our moon and planets and the tilt of the earth, thousands of years ago. The old religions cannot solve the problems of the modern world because the conditions facing us now are new – they did not exist centuries ago.

“‘We must also be conscious of the ancient teaching of the conflict between cosmos and chaos. Cosmos is ordered – the order of nature. Chaos is a state in which there is no order. An individual living within The Community, living The Way and applying The System, is ordered. An individual who interprets nature on his or her own, and lives out of step with the natural order, is akin to chaos and must be in conflict with cosmos. The order of nature is disturbed by the secular world when its laws are based not on nature and the cosmos, but on chaos and disorder.

“‘The governments of the secular world, the economic and political powers, the materialistic churches and religions are out of step with cosmos. Since they do not acknowledge the new condition of the sun or the intelligence within it, they are part of chaos and must, inevitably, bring about their own self-destruction or the destruction of humankind or the planet, or all three.

“‘You must understand that there is a tremendous tension, as was taught in the Hermetic School, between chaos and cosmos – between death and sterility of the earth caused by nature in rebellion with God’s Order, Life and Fertility. When the planet and world governments are out of step with cosmos, they bring about sterility in the race. An example of this is seen in the Catholic Church as well as in other religions where the priests, by being celibate and refusing to bring children into the world, bring about a sinful state of affairs – they bring guilt down upon the people, they refuse to acknowledge God’s Truth come as Light, they fail to acknowledge the Sun of Righteousness, and they cling to the idea of sacrifice and atonement and the belief in a material and human god as opposed to a spiritual God of Light. We can see that this creates a tension because the people within the church are involved in that field, respond to it, and are caught up in that energy. Therefore, in His Second Appearance, God has emitted His Truth, which is manifest as Light filled with His Word, which is His Thought and Divine Plan for the restructuring of human society.

“‘We may call ourselves spiritual engineers, inasmuch as we are engineering the universe and bringing about favorable conditions on the planet by working with the cosmos and preventing chaos. The New Ministry is a Divine Community of individuals working with God’s Way. We have taken oaths to adhere to the new Laws of God and to live by new statutes and judgements. Thus, the Reign of God begins by the radiation or emission of Truth, which manifests in this world as Divine Light come from the spiritual Sun, commingled with the material light of the sun. By filling the world with Truth, God is able to re-enter human history by means of this Truth.

“‘Naturally, members of this Church must adhere to legal and administrative laws based on cosmos, that will prevent chaos from taking over the world. This is the most ancient concept in high philosophy of the ancient world. Individuals must see that they can fight against chaos by adhering to order and structure. The bishops and ministers of this New Community receive their status and their authority from The Child and his successors and from God. That they must adhere to the structure, not oppose it or walk out of step with it chaotically, is fundamental.’”

The commentary continues with how we in Community are affecting the sun’s field, how the human species must adapt to the changing conditions in the sun, and the primary purpose of our Order.

The Twentieth and Twenty-first Sayings (Part 11)

“Responding to these words, a third Mariner, the fourth person to speak said, ‘Given the fact that the destiny of the races is in our hands, and we are indeed generating a field within the sun, a favorable field, is it possible that Man will not respond to the field in a favorable manner? Will he be able, because he wants his own way, to resist the field instead of submitting to it?’

“And The Man replied saying, ‘That is an excellent question. We know that in the prophecies of ancient scripture, both in our Christian religion and in Hebrew tradition, but not restricted to them, we are told that in the latter days of the world humankind would decide whether it was to serve Light or Darkness – Good or Evil. Those that chose to serve Light would be blessed and evolve and be strengthened by the light of the sun, and those that refused would respond to Darkness which would bring them death – perhaps the death of the world.

“‘The material world and the material sun might die, but the spiritual Sun will not. The whole universe must respond to the Thought of God and the Divine Plan. Those people who do not respond must, by the law of nature, die out because they are not adapting to the new conditions. A species that does not adapt to the new condition – the new environment – or is out of step with the natural environment, in this case, the supernatural environment will become extinct. Naturalists speculate that the dinosaur and all the prehistoric animals that existed at one time failed to adapt. Those species are gone from the planet, never to return. At least it does not appear they are going to return. The same thing applies to Man who turns from the Light of God. He will have failed to adapt and will become extinct.

“‘The world is going to change as the result of the Sun of Righteousness, which is only a name to describe a spiritual Sun. The Order which we represent is part of this change. We can influence the material world, not by becoming active participants in the secular world but by influencing it through the power that we inject in the sun and, consequently, in its field. That is why it is so important for us to live the spiritual Way and exercise The System. That is the only method of rising above our human limitations. To pave new paths, to create a need for new order, to inspire and direct are the goals of the New-Age minister in this Church.

“‘The purpose of the Order is the transformation of the world. Jamil is the first Teacher who has given Man the means to accomplish this – no other Teacher in the past did so. Therefore, instead of trusting in religion as a kind of utopian religion of the future, or instead of admiring ancient religions and worshiping dead gods of history, we are able to participate in the race of tomorrow and the world of tomorrow, within this Church.

“‘The powers of the ministers of this Church dictate that they may use the sun. They can transform it. Those people who are in harmony with the sun cosmically are blessed and benefit in a very special way. All others do not. The sun brings life to those in Light and a kind of death to those in Darkness.’”

In this portion of the commentary is discussed the concepts of fields, the increased energy of the field when joined with others in Community, and our effect on the sun’s field.

The Twentieth and Twenty-first Sayings (Part 10)

“A second Mariner, the third person to speak, said, ‘When we talk about the creation of a spiritual State or a spiritual Nation, I suppose something along the line of Plato’s ideal republic, what are we talking about in terms of process of transformation? Having been brought up very strongly in the American way, where one believes in the separation of Church and State, it would seem to me that the process of living in Community would be a very complicated one – that is, to accept a process where enlightened men and women living God’s Law have no need for the secular State. It would be a very big step for most people. Is this transformation to be a gradual process or a quick process?’

“The Man looked at the Navigator and said, ‘Are you speaking of the Nation itself?’ The Mariner replied, ‘I am speaking of the development of The Community and the development of individuals who will be able to live in that kind of situation. It is a very complicated process – not only individual transformation, but also the structure and maintenance of that State within a world which may not accept the fact that there are enlightened people who can live under God’s Law without interference from the State. And obviously there will be something of a potential power struggle between the forces of the State and the forces of enlightened men and women trying to live God’s Law and not submit to genocide, chemical warfare, atomic warfare, not to be subscribers to military service, not to be impressed into excessive taxation, and so forth. We are apparently heading for some kind of a conflict, an ultimate conflict if the State chooses to work against God’s Will and carry out that conflict, or to bring it to a head.’

“And The Man answered him saying, ‘I will answer the question by an allegory. The sperm cell and the ovum, within their own world, perhaps view themselves for what they are – cells. They think like cells. They act like cells. And they are cells. Whether they know of the existence of other cells or not, I do not know – I suppose they are not aware of any other cell but themselves. When the sperm, which is a transporting kind of cell unique in the human body, propels itself along on a great journey, it is like a ship going across great seas. That sperm cell is driven by instinct and intelligence. But that sperm cell is initially directed by a thought of the male who generated it through an act of ejaculation. And that cell, or cells, has to be placed in the proper environment – a stream or a channel, the fallopian tube – by which it can transport or propel itself. When it gets into the vicinity of the ovum, which undoubtedly is surrounded by a field, that sperm cell responds to the intelligence within that field, and knows how to act. If it did not come into that field, it would not act at all like a sperm cell in that state. The ovum radiates a field and the field has intelligence, just like the sun radiates a field and has intelligence within it.

“‘Out of the coupling of the sperm cell and the ovum there is a state that brings to life a new and unique human being capable of generating life and carrying on the species. Indeed, these cells carry a blueprint for life. Now, neither the ovum nor the sperm cell probably has the vaguest idea of their capacity to create something so gigantic and great and dynamic as a human life. The sperm cell and the ovum are very small. To tell them that they are going to create a person probably would defy their cellular intelligence, especially if one told them that the person they would create would build ships and sail about the world and go off into space and talk a language and run computers. It would be entirely beyond the comprehension of those cells.

“‘When a person looks at the sun and lives The System as taught, that person is motivated by the Thought of God within that energy. When a person comes in contact with another individual, and these individuals collect together, they create a field. That field has intelligence and other people coming in contact with that field respond. So the condition or state of affairs is synergetic. And as we impregnate the sun, as the field of the sun is altered by the intelligence factors within it coupled with those of God, we can expect the world to change its attitudes toward religion and toward this Church. But we must be very patient and swim the channel, sail across great seas, make a coupling, and wait for the fetus to grow. It takes time. That is the only possible way I can give you an explanation or description of what is in my mind, in response to your question.’”

The Twentieth and Twenty-first Sayings (Part 9)

“Then a second person, a Mariner, spoke, ‘It is my understanding of the Twenty-First Saying that by our love of God, and by living The Way, God enters our spirit and animates our soul, giving it spiritual life. Is this correct?’

“And The Man answered The Mariner who had spoken saying, ‘I believe that you are empowered by love. For example, a person can have an attitude toward the world, participate in human affairs, and have a state of life that is measured. That person falls in love. That person is then animated by that love and oftentimes changes for the better. That love can bring forth children which would not have been possible if that state had not been realized. I am speaking in ultimate terms now. And that is a synergetic power; in other words, out of the joining of two people something that did not exist outside of them, or with them as individuals, comes into being. If the sexes fail to unite, there cannot be new life on the planet. We do not create life of ourselves; therefore, individuals who believe that they can experience God by themselves are in error because it defies all laws of nature. It defies all spiritual Laws and all laws that have been revealed to us by inspired Teachers. That is like saying that people can create children without benefit of the other sex.

“‘If you love God, live The Way, adhere to The System within The Community, you then receive the benefits, synergetic benefits, and you are animated by God and you are transformed according to the measure by which you live.

“‘If a person looks at the sun and says, “I can accomplish as much by looking at the sun by myself as I can in Community,” it defies all teachings of nature. If it were not for bees spreading pollen, there would be no fruit on trees. How can the bee live unto itself? How can the fruit tree turn away from the benefit of the bee? If you kill one, the other dies.

“‘We are all animated by God and we are all governed by the laws of nature. Man is dictated to by the Laws of the spirit. And that is what is meant by revealed teachings. God sends messengers into the world to reveal through inspiration a knowledge of the spiritual dimension so that Man can live the Laws of the spirit. Without them he is not able to understand or benefit from them.

“‘That is why living The Way is so important in any spiritual evolvement of the individual. God is One. Every person mustneeds be in union with God’s Will. Harmony with that Will unifies a person with God, and that unity bestows blessings. A person is then animated by God’s Love. This Love is not attained when a person is contrary to God’s Will. Living The Way in Community causes God to enter our Light spirit, thus generating an immortal Soul. This Soul is created by God’s Love, and so long as we love God and live in accordance with God’s Divine Plan for human redemption, we live eternally with God.’”

As we continue with our review of The Twentieth and Twenty-first Sayings – our Part 8 – I found this segment to be particularly interesting as it deals with both spiritual Sight and physical sight.

“And a Companion of The Way, the first to speak, said: ‘I was thinking of the special blessing of God. What if a person is deprived of vision and the delight of looking at the sun and receiving its beneficial rays – could that blind person benefit while not actually perceiving the sun by means of sight? How is our spiritual evolvement determined by the absorption of sunlight, which we are told is the carrier of God’s Word? It seems fitting to ask this question now for it has concerned me for many years.’

“And The Man looked at the Companion who had spoken and answered him saying, ‘We have been told by the ancient teachers, prophets and Holy Ones of times past who gave us our religions and who served as spokesmen and Messengers of God that in order to attain immortality, every person is required to generate a spiritual body of Light. Immortality is not bestowed upon us by that physical body given to us by our earthly parents. Immortality is granted to us only by God who, being spirit, is known only by the spirit. If a body of spirit not be created, then we can never know God. This we are told by the ancients. And our own Jamil, beloved Child of God sent into the world to proclaim the appearance of God in the Sun of Righteousness, has confirmed this.

“‘Every person must needs be reborn; that is, given new life in spirit which assumes a Form, a Being and a Consciousness of its own. This life should never be confused with our physical form or with our emotional being, character or personality, nor with our rational, reasoning self. As each of us was procreated by our parents together by means of conception, God creates us spiritual beings by means of the Divine Word and Image. This process is governed by supernatural law just as our physical being is governed by natural law. Generation and creation are not possible outside of these laws.

“‘This explains why The Teachings entrusted into the care of The Community are so important to the race. Being revealed to us from higher worlds of spirit by the Will of God, they give us the means by which each and every one of us may be created God’s people to be ruled and governed by Divine Law, just as the people of the world are governed by the laws of nature and by Man’s law. The two – natural and supernatural law – must be considered separate and apart from one another. The religions of the world often confuse this fact, and they serve social order more than Godly order.

“‘We are told that the Divine Light radiated from the spiritual Sun of Righteousness manifests as God’s Image, and that God’s Word is found within that Image. The Light of God is eternal Life, and the Word of God is eternal Truth. Those who look upon God’s Image and hear God’s Word are made new spiritual beings. Does this mean that only people who have physical eyesight are able to create a spiritual body because of those eyes? Of course not. We are talking about a spiritual Body. The physical eyes, the mind, the senses are the only means we have of measuring reality as ordinary humans. And if we use those faculties of cognition and the perceptory senses to look beyond perceptions of the natural world and go on to the more refined causes of those perceptions, we then see reality in a different way and bring into effect those senses behind the physical senses. So there is, to answer your question, a Sight behind physical sight.

“‘We know that people are able to see color fields, electrical fields, and force fields around living things by use of the eyes and even without the use of the eyes. Sometimes they can read with the palms of the hands and see colors through the back of the head. So the senses, perhaps, are different than our understanding of them. Therefore, I would say that though a person who has the faculties of eyesight can experience something a blind person cannot, we know that blind persons or persons who have a handicap in sight are sometimes more sensitive in other senses. I would say that a person can see the sun without means of the physical eyes. I believe a person can see the spiritual Sun without physical eyes. We have all seen visions with our eyes closed at night, even during the day. We can see with our eyes closed. I believe that if a blind person were to face the sun, that person would see the Image of God and hear the Word of God within it just as much as a person with sight.

“‘You can experience this for yourself by raising your palms to the sun. You can feel the pulse of the sun and become very sensitized to it even by turning the back of the head to the sun. With practice, you can become very sensitive and receive the benefits of the sun just as surely as if you would receive the beneficial rays of the sun by means of the eyes.

“‘The great mystery of spiritual rebirth by means of the spiritual Sun of Righteousness is the goal of a lifetime. Spiritual rebirth cannot be attained by wrong means. The intent of a person, which is always known to the spirit and to God, must needs be pure. Those who would look upon, or hope to look upon, the spiritual Sun with wrong intent never perceive it. Indeed, they are blind – without spiritual Sight. With pure intent – by desiring to serve God with one’s whole heart and being – spiritual Sight is restored, for we are born with that Sight, not with physical sight. If a person looks to The Community and desires position; or comes to us because of love of another person; or desires companionship, status, comfort, or for any other material benefits that may be realized – meaning they come to The Community for selfish motives – they will not see God’s Image nor hear God’s Word. They are indeed blind, and no prophet would or could restore their vision.’”

I am happy to report that we had a series of very successful meetings with Bishop Yukinori while he was here for two weeks visiting us. He returned to Japan early this morning. We discussed a set of plans to increase our presence in Japan, which I will tell you about soon. Yuki also stayed at the newly remodeled retreat at the Red Rock Sanctuary.

The Twentieth and Twenty-first Sayings (Part 7)

“And The Man thought much to himself, speaking to his own spirit and heart. He remembered the words of his father who had expressed his beliefs about immortality a year before his death. His father believed he would live through his children, and that through them and their children he would gain immortality on this earth. Many mortals, believing as did his father, fail to acknowledge the existence of the soul or understand that it is given birth by means of God’s Image and Word.

“The Man understood that Man was made in the Image of Light, and that God’s Word spoke to that Image in spirit. To know God, or to gain immortality, is a spiritual act distinct from any material undertaking, separate from Man’s mortal nature. Indeed, God’s Word is intelligible only to those spiritual faculties reborn in Man by the Image of God manifest in the spiritual Sun. To think of Man’s mortal nature as being the image originally created by God was a grave error. Man has been created spirit, in the Image of God. Thus, only in spirit is Man truly able to realize immortality. And that immortality is gained only by living The Way as revealed by God’s inspired messengers.

“And he said to himself: ‘God does not speak to the faculties of emotion, or to the mind of the physical body. If a person fails to experience a rebirth of spirit, which is a re-creation and regeneration of that form in which Man was originally made, then God cannot be experienced. Being spirit, God can only be known in spirit.

“‘The singular teaching of The Community is: with God’s Second Appearance, Man again has access to God. The revelations entrusted into the care of The Community instruct humankind in The Way of attaining God. It was the Will of God that this Way be revealed to humankind on an orderly basis.

“‘Once an individual receives this revelation, one is bound to live The Way within The Community. This is the Divine Marriage in which a person puts on a garment of divine Light and weds God. Once wed, a person leaves behind mortal attachment to society and serves God with all of one’s being. One becomes spirit and serves the spirit. There is no longer a personal life for that person, but only a life of dedicated service to the establishment of God’s new Spiritual Nation.’

“The Man did not reveal these thoughts to the Mariners or to the Companions. Instead, he asked them to make comment on the Sayings he had given them.”

And we will begin reviewing the commentary next week.
