This is the final portion of the commentary on the Twentieth and Twenty-first Sayings, and it is quite profound. I encourage you to pay special attention to it. The Man discourses on truth, on the spiritual hope for the future, on the illusion of matter, and on Man’s origins. Most importantly, he discusses the new spiritual Nation, and God’s Promise and Incarnation within the spiritual Sun, which we call the Sun of Righteousness.

He goes on to explain the concept of God assuming the Office of Christ, and Jamil’s announcement of that which is the New Advent of God – that is, God appearing to humankind a second and final time. Lastly discussed is the importance of our Community as being an extension of the Community of Jesus.

The Twentieth and Twenty-first Sayings (Part 17)

“After saying these words, The Man looked at his Mariners and Companions before him, awaiting another question. Hearing none, he continued speaking. ‘Truth is eternal. No matter how often Truth is repeated, it is still Truth for any age. Jamil echoes out of the past many teachings known to the ancients. We know that the Truths revealed by the prophets of ancient times are as valid today as they were for the ancients. Jamil has supplemented these eternal Truths. Thus, we have new information. Allied with the Truth of God that now manifests in the Sun of Righteousness, this information can be utilized by us in a continuing and progressive evolutionary way. It is not static.’

“Having said these words and hearing no further questions, The Man fell silent. At a later time, a woman and Companion of The Way, the eighth person to speak to him on the giving of the Twentieth and Twenty-First Sayings, said, ‘I have thought much on the matter of the new spiritual Nation. My heart tells me that if this New Nation is to be, it already exists in the future. If this is true, we as humans have no other course but to make the Nation a reality for us today. Am I correct in this assumption?’

“And The Man answered her saying, ‘You are the first to understand that what God reveals through His Messengers is God’s Will and, therefore, is. For us mortals, the revelations are only a distant hope for the future – an undreamed reality which we can hardly imagine. But if God reveals to us that this is to be, then it will be; indeed, it already is. Those of us who are immortal, those who exist in the future, are part of this revelation even though our mortal bodies and our minds exist in the limited present. If we listen to our minds, or if we allow ourselves to become overly preoccupied with our physical beings, our vision into the future is dimmed and we lose hope. But our spiritual beings do exist for all time – past and future – since we have always existed and our descent into matter then becomes only an illusion. Once we are awakened and illuminated by God’s Image and Word, time stands still. We are united with God. It, therefore, becomes essential that we devote the remainder of our physical lives to God’s service as Agents of the Word and Image of Light. We have no other course. To serve the material world, to seek our own destiny outside of God’s Will, is to plunge ourselves deeper into the error of matter.’

“And The Man looked into the eyes of the young woman before him and said, ‘That you can see the reality of God’s Nation reveals your citizenship in that Nation, my daughter and sister in Light. You have recognized your own immortality by spanning time.’ And she said, ‘I see the end of an era, an ancient era that will be no more. Old nations, old peoples shall pass away to make way for the New Nation and its people.’

“And he replied, ‘The race must evolve toward Light whence it came, ever returning to its origins. This is the Promise of God who has revealed this to us through the prophets. This is the reason for the Second Appearance, to fulfill that promise.’

“The young woman replied to these words saying, ‘When I was in Jerusalem with other Companions of The Way, I had a remembrance of having been there before. I saw the man Jesus fall on his way to Calvary, and in his eyes, I saw the Light and the promise of a return. I have recognized that Light again and know it is with us as a Divine Presence in the Sun of God that will enlighten the whole universe and the peoples of the world.’

“And The Man responded saying, ‘The incarnation of God’s Word, whether in Man or in the Sun, is an irresistible power that the material universe and its peoples must acknowledge in time to come. Human life is as nothing compared to the eternity of spirit. What was begun with Jesus and the ancients before him, that is, the Spirit of God manifest as the Image and the Word, ever grows. It culminates with Jamil in this new era in which God has assumed the sovereignty of Christ by an appearance of redeeming Light. Jamil has announced this as the Mouthpiece of God, declaring that God’s Image and Word exist in the heavens for every eye to see – as perpetual Light shining on all nations and peoples of the world. By means of this Light, people may become One with God.’

“And the Companion spoke again saying, ‘The Nation, like the True Church, is invisible, inhabited by spiritual Beings of Light, which, though existing are not perceived by the physical senses of Man.’ And The Man said to her, ‘It is the destiny of the universe and its people to unite with God in spirit. The reality of it is a progressive event continually in motion. The truth of it shines as God’s Light, dawning upon Man’s intelligence and illuminating his spiritual nature, regenerating the race and creating him new. What is will be. All things are drawn to the future. The reality of it is not to be denied. The wise acknowledge this, and by so doing, begin their ascent back to the Godhead. In past ages, God’s Word incarnated in Holy Ones – those divine Teachers of The Way who appeared to many nations and peoples. In our own Christian tradition, the Word incarnated in the man Jesus, and we believe him to have been the Son of God, which of course he was. But the world worshiped the man as a human savior, forsaking his great Teaching. The religion built around the man has degenerated into a social order which, even though endowed with lofty ideals, has not brought the world to God. The Christian message in its original form was designed to teach the human race to become as Jesus – to exemplify The Way that he taught. To worship the man and to expect him to take the place of God to save a human soul is to renounce everything that he taught. He wanted humans to live as he did – to become reborn in spirit by turning from the ways of the world to The Way of God. This they have not done. And we see the results in the world today. We have only to look back at the history of the Church and of Christianity to see the results of the error. This is why Jamil, the Messenger of God, has appeared to the world in the image of a little child. He has declared the appearance of God in the Sun of Righteousness, a universal Image to which the whole race can turn in all equality.

“‘God’s Word has incarnated in a heavenly Image, the Sun behind the sun as the source of all life and Light. Jamil has announced God’s Second Advent, and God has revealed the means by which the human family may receive the seminal Force of God for spiritual regeneration and birth as spiritual beings. Thus the Word of God incarnates in each person – each man and each woman – as it did in Jesus and other Holy Ones of times past. Jamil has shown us The Way. We as a race are freed from the past – liberated from enslavement to old ideas that are no longer valid. The world is being made new by God’s Image and Word. This is the whole meaning of the New Religion of which we are a part. Each man and each woman must be prepared to live The Way. This is only possible in a new Community, a Nation of spiritual people.

“‘The spiritual Nation was begun by the Will of God, and that Nation consists of all those immortals throughout time who, by means of God’s Image and Word, have been reborn in spirit. We of the modern world have been invited to become citizens of this theocratic Nation and to assist in its greater formation on earth for all humankind. Jamil, as a citizen of this Nation, has announced to us the Advent of God in the universe in a second and final time. He was the first member of this nation in our age, and he leads the way for all of us.

“‘We are to devote ourselves unselfishly to the formation of the spiritual Nation on the planet in unison with God’s Image and Word manifest in the spiritual Sun. The Nation has begun with Jamil and it grows as each one of us becomes a member of it. By our dedication and example, others will follow. This Nation can have no life if we as individuals do not separate ourselves from the secular world and submit ourselves collectively to the Will of God.

“‘We must always remember that as The Work was begun by a single person – that being Jesus, in whom God’s Word incarnated – it has grown down through the centuries until the appearance of Jamil, in whom God’s Word incarnated for our age of the Second Advent of God. Thus our Community is an extension of the former Community, which gives it meaning and purpose. The two are one.

“‘God’s Will is irreversible, and no human power – no Dark power – can prevent it from taking root in those humble people who choose of their own free will to carry on the Divine Plan for human redemption. God is with The Community, and the meek shall inherit the earth as prophesied by Jesus and the older prophets of God.’”

And this concludes our review of the Twentieth and Twenty-first Sayings of Jamil.

This is an important part of the commentary which treats on the significant difference between the priests/ministers of the old churches and the minister/priest of the New Advent Community.

The Twentieth and Twenty-first Sayings (Part 16)

“‘In our own Christian religion, ministers are ordained to administer the sacraments and perform pastoral duties in a parish. Above all, they are empowered to transform the sacramental elements of bread and wine – the Eucharist – into the presence of Jesus, yet the appearance of the bread and wine remains unchanged to the human eye. The worshipers are able to participate in this “presence” which is claimed to represent the true mystery and power of ministers.

“‘In the New Christ Age, Ministers in the Church of the Second Advent are ordained to a higher and more noble form of transubstantiation in which they are empowered to bring about an alteration in the physical sun. By reflection techniques and by the implantation of their spiritual powers into the sun, many negative aspects are subdued, allowing the blessings from the spiritual Sun – which are imperceptible to the perceptory senses of the peoples of the world – to stream down to the planet. In other words, adepts of The System invoke God to bless the world and its inhabitants.

“‘Ministers of this Church labor with the Powers of Light against the Powers of Darkness, using the sun as a force for good. They implant their own spiritual natures within the sun, impregnating it with spiritual Power which, allied with the Angelic hosts and the inhabitants of the Worlds of Light, bring about a transformation of the material sun. Indeed, they sustain the material sun causing it to shine favorably upon the world and prevent the end of the world.

“‘You have all seen how the sun can appear harsh, brilliant, and difficult to look at at times. The adept, especially when joined with others in Community, is able to alter the sun, transforming it into a mellow, golden source of light and energy. Those standing in the field generated by adepts who are structured, ordered, and bound by the Codes of the Order, under vows and who have taken an oath to serve God in the Second Advent Church, find that they experience greater benefit from looking at the sun than they might otherwise enjoy were they not within this benevolent field. This act of transubstantiation is only possible by the highest level of adeptship.

“‘The New Ministers have power and authority in this Church. We have, of course, new attitudes, which we will not discourse upon in this commentary.

“‘We have a living Christianity, an entirely new Christianity based on new doctrines, not just a social church of religious belief. We have a Church that teaches and lives The Way in harmony with God’s cosmic Light and Word manifest in the Sun of Righteousness. This Church allows man and woman to cooperate with God for the redemption of the world. The difference between the Church of the Second Advent and the churches of the first dispensation is that we do not stress the building of structures for worship of God – something that God does not really want or need – but stress the need for humankind to participate in this Messianic Age and to work in a structured manner within the cosmic whole for the benefit of humanity and the universe itself. We are a New Church with a New Teaching. We have come into repossession of the lost Teachings of Jesus, which have now been fulfilled and supplemented and made new by Jamil, The Child.

“‘Of all people, we have hope in immortality. Others have faith, hope, or belief in some system or church. We know that this hope, faith, and belief are not sufficient to assure the desired spiritual state. This spiritual state is only realized by applying The Way revealed by God in accordance with the cosmos. By living The Way, the spiritual life is demonstrated and proven by the benefits realized. Those people who do not experience The Way are living chaotic lives without real and lasting spiritual benefits.

“‘Again, we repeat that the members of The Community have a power over the sun and star systems and, with God’s assistance, the cosmic and solar energies of the universe can help humankind. Even the stars will respond in such a way that the earth benefits during the night from the light from the sun and star systems.

“‘Consciousness comes to life by living The Way. Application of the techniques brings to the individual, like a living string, a creative power of Consciousness which can never be developed in an ordinary person by will, by thought, or by desire, but only by absorbing that energy and being able to tap the intelligence within, which is Truth of God.

“‘The techniques that we use when looking at the sun are amplified in accordance with the spiritual dedication of the individual. The greater the spiritual devotion, the greater the abundance of energy received, and the greater amount that can be transmitted back to the sun with greater effect. When adepts transmit energy back to the sun, they are also transmitting information or intelligence back to the sun. This means that an adept actually projects or transports part of himself or herself into the sun and thence into the stellar systems. This all has an effect in the cosmos and explains why it is so important for mature individuals to come to The School to devote themselves entirely to The Way. By living The Way, one can have a positive, meaningful, and lasting effect upon the universe. The Second Advent of God has empowered those within the revealed Teachings in a manner that was not possible before the Advent.’”

And we will conclude this commentary next week.

This is a wonderful segment of the Saying that talks about love – both physical and spiritual – but more importantly spiritual love – the love of God and the love from God.

The Twentieth and Twenty-first Sayings (Part 15)

“And the fifth Mariner, the seventh person to speak said, ‘Could you speak to us of physical love and spiritual love?’

“And The Man answered, ‘When we speak of physical love, we usually refer to emotional love or physical attachment or dependence which is based on the senses. That is a kind of attachment – a kind of a gratification – like eating. Spiritual love is something that is the product of a person in love with God and can be shared with another person who also loves God and radiates love. And that love is Light and that Light is Truth and Goodness. The Light and Goodness in love is a kind of food. Therefore, the love of God transmitted as Truth becoming Light is, in reality, food and nourishes the spirit. Thus the spirit can only live off Light and Love. And once a person becomes spiritual, that is, once the spiritual Light body is generated, that Light body generates Light and energy and intelligence.

“‘The physical expresses itself physically on the level of the eight force centers – from the generative force center to the psychic force center. On the spiritual level, one can only express oneself on the level of the four force centers of Consciousness, Being, Intellect, and Form. This means that a person looking at the physical sun discerns it as a physical energy source. The spiritual Sun is not perceived this way. In order to perceive the spiritual Sun, one must needs live The Way. Living The Way extends a real spiritual life to the person by permitting that person to express the spiritual attributes. A spiritual person needs to express love, truth, beauty, justice and all the other spiritual qualities that are not expressed on the human level. These qualities include Divine Wisdom, celestial Intelligence, and a spiritual Righteousness.

“‘The difference between the intellectual and emotional life is great. A person can be very intelligent but not always in control of his or her emotions. A person may be very emotional but not very intelligent. Emotion and intelligence are separate, just as the body and the spirit are separate. If one lives The Way and adheres to The System, one develops faculties that experience and perceive the special world of spirit.

“‘The emotional religion of popular Christianity is no substitute for the spiritual religion of Jesus as lived by the disciples and apostles. The traditional churches preach that we are saved by the body and blood of Jesus, which has nothing to do with the spirit at all. That is strictly a physical concept which satisfies the emotional need and dependence upon a human savior made god. It is better to live off the love of God than the blood of Jesus, but people who are emotional and not spiritual cannot understand this. One must have spiritual faculties in order to understand spiritual things. Without them all one can do is mimic Jesus’ teachings but never understand them. That is why popular Christianity has only been able to create a secondary understanding of the teachings of Christ but has never been able to live them. Jesus Christ was always opposed to blood sacrifice. That was fundamental in his teaching. How could he create a religion of sacrifice and blood in his own life?

“‘God, not Man or his governments, can redeem the world and change it to a higher and more evolutionized state or condition. By collaborating with God and by living the Truth of God’s Light in the Sun of Salvation, the people of the world will evolve to a higher state.

“‘Man and his governments do not give life nor do they sustain it. God and the cosmos do this. Thus Man and his governments must have a higher understanding of God. They need to understand the necessity for change and to accept that God is the only Power that can redeem the world. As long as Man depends upon the material powers of his world, he will suffer. So Man must trust God with all his heart and being in order to change himself and the world. He must see himself as having been made in the Image of God. That Image must be recreated and reborn by application of The Way and The System as taught.

“‘Ministers of The Community are part of a coming new spiritual Order. They belong to the future. They receive the Gift of God from the New Sun, which is a blessing that is not given to all humankind but is reserved for those people who are actually participating in the cosmos and are opposed to chaos. That is why our Church is structured.

“‘Those who deny that God is able to influence their lives, or deny the influence of the sun, put themselves outside of the Blessings of God. They do not share in the Divine Plan nor do they participate in the transformation of the world. God blesses that person who submits to Community life.

“‘When a person loves another, they find themselves loving with care. They are courteous, kind, well-mannered, clean, gracious, and usually generous. One conducts oneself on the highest level in order to assure that that love will be returned by the other person. One cannot ignore a loved one and expect love to be maintained. Love is based on consent between two persons. It is never given against one’s will. As a person loves, so is that love returned. It is the same with God. If love of God is ordered and well structured, that is, if it is within the laws of the cosmos created by God’s Will, that love is returned in kind. One cannot expect God to return a love that is disrespectful or disobedient. People find this hard to understand – they expect God to love them on their own terms.’”
