Annual Children’s Blessing and Breakfast, 2024

After the Sunrise Divine Service on the morning of Sunday, December 29, 2024 — the 5th day of Christmas of the Christmas-Epiphany Sunrise Vigil — the Reno Community gathered at the End Times Parsonage for breakfast and the annual Blessing of the Children.

The Children’s Service was presided over by the Reverend Noriko Roy with the assistance of Acolyte Sabrina Savoy. In a short address, Reverend Roy reminded the youngsters that they are the hope of The Community.

Reverend Roy extended to them The Community’s appreciation for their devotion and faith in The Church and commended them into God’s Hands so they may learn and understand further the meaning of charity and truth in the Service of God.

Finally, on behalf of the Head Bishop and the clergy of the Second Advent Church, she invoked God’s blessings upon all the children and offered a special prayer for them.

Below is a selection of photos from that event.

2025 Epiphany Eve Celebrated

On the evening of January 5th, Epiphany Eve in the Second Advent Calendar and the Twelfth Day of Christmas, resident members of The Community, their families, and guests were invited to the Rectory-Abbey by Bishop Gene Savoy, Jr. to celebrate the holiday with a dinner  reception and a visit from Santa Claus. The event was well attended by members of The Community and guests. The event was captured in photos by attendees, and the Communique staff put together a gallery of these photos for your enjoyment. To welcome guests to the Rectory, Bishop Gene briefly addressed the company. (Please see below for a link to a video of his remarks.)

A parsonage blessing was performed over the Rectory East Wing on January 3, 2025. The ceremony involved censoring all the major rooms of the building with incense and sprinkling them with Holy Water by the Head Bishop, The Right Reverend Father Gene Savoy, Jr. Following the extensive ritual, Bishop Gene read the Solemn Dedication and offered Communion to those in attendance. The service concluded with a Seal of Blessing. The Bishop was assisted by The Reverend Father Robert Petrovich, The Reverend Mother Elizabeth Reece, The Reverend Canon Amanda Buchanan, and Sabrina Savoy. Also in attendance were The Reverend Mother Barbara Whitney, The Reverends Robert and Noriko Roy, The Reverends Shane Grady and Radheka Patel Savoy, Sophia and Helena Savoy, and Joseph Roy. This special service was conducted following a major remodel of the East Wing exterior over the past two years. (An article on the remodeling project will soon appear in The Community Communique.)

Finding and Obtaining the Clear Light of God

spirit

“Navigating the terrains of the Bardo, we may face unwelcome travelers of fear and disorientation, which stir the waters of our minds, obscuring the serene reflection needed for recognizing the Clear Light. Familiarity with the path is indispensable; without prior experience and reflection on the essence of the Clear Light, recognition in the Bardo becomes akin to finding a needle in a cosmic haystack. The “Bardo Thödol” prescribes practices and teachings aimed at peeling away these veils, refining our perception, and revealing the luminous nature inherent in all beings. By integrating mindfulness, compassion, and wisdom into daily life, practitioners prepare to meet this unique juncture with awareness and understanding, recognizing the Clear Light as their true nature. This unveiling is more than an ephemeral experience; it’s a golden opportunity for immediate liberation, an invitation to awaken to our innate wisdom and compassion, to reflect on life’s impermanence, and to live with mindfulness and spiritual vigor. The teachings of this Bardo serve as a guide for the dying and a reflective mirror for the living, unveiling deeper truths of existence and offering a path towards self-realization and liberation.”

-the Tibetan Book of the Dead

Unwelcome Travelers

TheWord Bardo refers to the place where we are between Heaven and Earth, but what the quote says about unwanted travelers applies to the physical world as well. Not only might we face “unwelcome travelers,” we definitely will. These unwelcome travelers of fear and disorientation are generally called demons and devils. Their purpose is to keep us confused about what is real and what is illusion, what is important and what isn’t. They want to prevent us from awakening and developing our spiritual Self.

Serene Reflection

Serene Reflection is needed to recognize the Clear Light of God and the path to it. Some schools teach that this “serene reflection” means practicing basic meditation, but that is a tool for beginners and we must remember that the ancient schools were careful to not put too much knowledge in writing to prevent it from being misused. There is, as we know in Cosolargy, ample evidence that the ancient spiritual groups and mystery schools in many parts of the world practiced some form of spiritual Sun Gazing.

Bardo Thödol

Bardo Thödol is another name for the Tibetan Book of the Dead, so the real purpose of this book is to teach people how to engage in spiritual development. The quote says that its teachings are aimed at “peeling away the veils”. It was taught in many spiritual schools that the Spiritual Sun was blocked from us by “veils”, and those veils would be lifted at some future date. We are now living in the time when the veils are being lifted and people are awakening to the reality of a Spiritual Self, and the need to awaken and develop it. Although some veils may remain, practicing the proper techniques can lift those veils.

Awaken to Wisdom

The quote says the lifting of the veils gives us an opportunity to “ awaken to our innate wisdom and compassion.” Another way of saying it is that it gives us the ability to develop higher levels of consciousness until we reach the highest levels where we are one with the All, one with God. When that happens, we are also one with True Wisdom and Love for all. That is how we become part of the Clear Light of God.

“Mystery Signals May Be Coming From One of The Rarest Stars in The Galaxy”

A few years ago, a radio telescope operating out of the desert of Western Australia observed something very weird.

Just 4,000 light-years from Earth, something was emitting a bright radio signal like nothing we’d ever seen before: flashing like a pulsar, but with a super long period between pulses, and a super long pulse itself. The nature of the source was impossible, at that point, to discern.

“Hubble Gets its Best Look At the First Quasar”

The term quasar comes from quasi-stellar objects, a name that reflected our uncertainty about their nature. The first quasars were discovered solely because of their radio emissions, with no corresponding visual objects. This is surprising since quasars blaze with the light of trillions of stars.

In recent observations, the Hubble examined a historical quasar named 3C 273, the first quasar to be linked with a visual object.
