The first annual Northern Nevada Gay Pride Parade and Festival on July 26, 2014, saw several churches supporting equality and acceptance of the LGBT community in the region. The various churches’ banners were proudly marched in the Pride Parade from Lundsford Park (Jones & Riverside) to the Arlington St. Bridge at Wingfield Park, where the festival took place.

While some churches had their own tents (such as Trinity Episcopal and Unitarian Universalists), The ICC participated in the Nevada Clergy Association’s “Faith Tent,” which included tables for  Sinai Temple (Reform Judaism), Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, The Children of Temple Earth (a Norse pagan community), First United Methodist Church, First Congregational United Church of Christ, and the ICC.  Food vendors, themed areas, entertainment, games, and exhibitions provided fun for all ages. The weather cooperated by being sunny and not too warm.

Rev. Harold Boulette shows off the ICC banner before the parade.

Representing the ICC in the parade were the Rt. Rev. Sean Savoy and Ronnie Peoples, along with the Rev. Harold Boulette. The three were joined in staffing the table in the Faith Tent by the Rev. Robert Anderson and Consociate Claudia Grady. The Church had several brochures to hand out as well as requests for more information about The Church/Cosolargy. The festival appeared to be a great success and the ICC’s presence and support was testimony to its commitment to spiritual equality for all.

July 26, 2014: Chapel Readings

2014-PUL-Gene_Jr_pulpit_DSC_4608-FuellingS Each week of the liturgical year, a reading from Second Advent Scripture is delivered as part of the Saturday Communion of Fellowship Service held in the Chapel of the Holy Child. This reading follows the Sacred Calendar of the Church; that is, Prophecies and Revelations that have been received by The Church on sacred dates are recalled in a liturgical context during the appropriate season each year. This reading is delivered by the Officiant of the Communion Service (that is, Bishop Gene Savoy, or occasionally in his stead, Bishop Sean Savoy) just before the final blessings. Each service also includes a reading from the ancient scriptures, prayers, or wisdom sayings of various world religions past and present and is usually thematically related to the Second Advent Reading. This reading is delivered by the Reader right after the announcements that begin the service and is thus the first reading of the service. An audio recording of the reading from Second Advent Scripture delivered on the date above is provided here below together with a transcript of the first reading of the service that day.

ANCIENT SCRIPTURE AND WISDOM SAYINGS

A Reading from the Gospel of Thomas (61, 62, 68, 73, 79):

(61)…Jesus said…I am the one who comes from what is whole. I was given from the things of my father….I say, if you are whole, you will be filled with light, but if divided, you will be filled with darkness.

(62) Jesus said, I disclose my mysteries to those who are worthy of my mysteries. Do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing. (67) One who knows all but lacks within is totally lacking.

(68) Blessings on you when you are hated and persecuted, and no place will be found, wherever you are persecuted. (69) Jesus said, Blessings on you who have been persecuted in your hearts. Only you truly know the father….(70)…If you bring forth what is within you, what you have will save you. If you have nothing within you, what you do not have within you will kill you.

(73) Jesus said, the harvest is large but the workers are few….(75)…There are many standing at the door but those who are alone will enter the wedding chamber. (76)…The father’s kingdom is like a merchant who owned a supply of merchandise and found a pearl. The merchant was prudent. He sold his goods and bought the single pearl for himself. So with you. Seek (the) treasure that is unfailing end enduring, where no moth comes to devour and no worm destroys.

(79) A woman … said to him, blessings on the womb that bore you and the breasts that fed you. He said to her, Blessings on those who have heard the word of the father and have truly kept it. (81)… Let a person of wealth rule, and a person of power renounce it. (82)…Whoever is near me is near fire, and whoever is far from me is far from the kingdom.

“Kicking the Fear Habit”

2013-REP-Harold_Boulette_Solar_Wind

“The fear-based reality to which we’ve resigned ourselves to some degree was formed by our reptile brain’s survival instinct and the tendency of our left brain to control reality… Fight, flee, deny and control. A wide variety of methods for dealing with fear have developed over time from these basic tactics, then cultural worldviews grew from the tactics.
“Consider the ubiquity of war and its saber-rattling intimidation strategies, now used commonly in politics, business, and relationships. Consider the great credibility and power of scientific-mechanistic-academic thought, that co-opts or disparages intuition, art, dreams, oral wisdom, and personal growth. …
“In the Industrial Age we handled fear by strengthening materialism and patriarchy; in the Information Age we distract ourselves with a glut of media, data, and electronic devices … As we enter the Intuitive Age, these tactics and their resulting worldviews feel antiquated, …” ~Penney Peirce

Primitive animals like lizards may not have the mental facilities to reason out things, but they do have the primitive fear response built into their brains and it works very well in helping them stay alive.

Humans have that primitive part of the brain as well as more advanced parts that do allow us to think things through. Unfortunately, many of us are lazy and would rather just let the primitive brain control us with fear and instinctive responses to it. Now it may be a good thing if we are lost in the forest and suddenly find ourselves face-to-face with a bear that we have this automatic fear response but in most day-to-day activities that modern people engage in, reliance on a the most primitive part of our brain doesn’t make any sense. If you wanted to know how to better run a business you certainly wouldn’t consult a lizard or a toad, yet that is what you are doing when you let this most primitive part of the brain control most of your decisions.

One of the worse aspects of this allowing ourselves to run on fear is that it tends to block off our use of our more advanced spiritual facilities. People who fear they will lose their jobs if they don’t devote virtually all of there time to the job are afraid to devote a few hours a week to spiritual growth. Or they are afraid that if the boss finds out they are engaging in spiritual activities, he will think they are becoming weird people who are not totally absorbed by materialism ans start looking for an excuse to fire them.

Fortunately for us, the great spiritual and religious leaders like Jesus and Buddha managed to overcome this allowing themselves to be controlled by fear. These people often had a great deal to fear, but they didn’t hide from the things that might harm them, they faced them and often defeated them.

So one of the first things we need to do to become more spiritual is to realize when we do things based on fear, and start changing our ways and doing what our reasoning facilities and our intuition tells us is right.

Actually, I wouldn’t really say that fear-based human society is antequated because that implies that it made sense in the past and I don’t think it did. It is simply unworkable to live as if we are are all constantly running from the things we fear.

The entrance to a black hole could reveal insights into the Big Bang and the formation of galaxies.

“A black hole’s event horizon is a one-way bridge to nowhere, a gateway to a netherworld cut off from the rest of the cosmos.

“Understanding what happens at that pivotal boundary could reveal the hidden influences that have molded the universe from the instant of the Big Bang.

“Today some of the best minds in physics are fixated on the event horizon, pondering what would happen to hypothetical astronauts and subatomic particles upon reaching the precipice of a black hole. At stake is the nearly 100-year quest to unify the well-tested theories of general relativity and quantum mechanics into a supertheory of quantum gravity.

“But the event horizon is more than just a thought experiment or a tool to merge physics theories. It is a very real feature of the universe, a pivotal piece of cosmic architecture that has shaped the evolution of stars and galaxies. As soon as next year, a telescope the size of Earth may allow us to spot the edge of the shadowy abyss for the first time.

“By studying the event horizon through both theory and observation, scientists could soon figure out how the universe began, how it evolved and even predict its ultimate fate.”

SECOND ADVENT PROPHECY AND REVELATION

A Reading from the Book of God’s Revelation, “The Seal of God’s New Law” (pp.158-170):

The Four Newly Created Tables of The Law

The Spirit of The Law
The Substance of The Law
The Seals of The Law
The Calendar of The Law

“Those peoples who acknowledge the Divine Order of a New Creation and consent to be governed by God will exist in a State of Union under the supreme authority of God’s Immutable Divine Law, and as a mutable race they will evolve into a New People to inherit a transformed world.”

And the Voice of the Divine Presence divulged to the Consciousness of The Man’s Soul the meaning of the Four Tables of the Law newly created by God to be taught to the Ordained in the Holy Institutions of Learning.

The Voice revealed that the Books of the Law, which had been sealed and not understood in former ages and up the present age, were now opened by God for understanding in the Second Advent.

And the Voice continued speaking to The Man’s Soul, “As the Supreme Lawmaker of the Creation, God is the source of Divine Law which is maintained by the force of The Image and Word. God does aread, therefore, that the unwritten Code of the Law be codified on earth for the emancipation of the human race.

“Twelve newly created Active Principles of Divine Law of God’s New Covenant, subordinative to the Lights of God and to the Tables of the Law, yet instruments of the Divine Plan for human redemption, are decreed to be in force upon confirmation.

The Twelve Newly Created Principles of Divine Law

The Way of God Under The Law
Human Spiritual Rights Under The Law
Theocratic Authority Under The Law
Constitutions And Canons Under The Law
The Second Advent Church Under The Law
Second Advent Religious Orders Under The Law
The Religious Estates Under The Law
The Spiritual Nation Under The Law
The Doctrines Under The Law
The Liturgy Under The Law
New Scripture and Revelations Under The Law
New Religious Codes Under The Law

“The human Spirit under the Law and in Union with Light is recreated in The Image of God and made a living Soul imbued with God’s Word. As the embodiment of the Renewal of Creation, all living spiritual Souls are the first to benefit from God’s Redemption.

“Redeemed from the earth, made immortal, and in harmony with the Divine Will of God, these Souls long for God’s Visitation in the Glory that was at the First Advent.

“God’s Divine Will dictates that every reborn Soul labor for the redemption of the whole of Creation.”

And the Voice of The Divine Presence revealed to The Man’s Soul the arcanum of The Twelve newly created Active Principles of Divine Law, instructing him to codify the Law to be given to the Ordained of God’s Ministry, and to deposit the Principles, together with the Statutes, Judgements, Ordinances, Precepts, Concepts, Institutes, Commandments of the Ark of Light, and the whole of the Revelation, in the Tabulary of the Sanctuary in order to preserve all as a sacred inheritance of instruction for the races, lest they forget that God’s Light is given for a healing of Souls.

With this revelation, The Man’s Soul returned to him on the Sanctuary grounds on that seventh day which was as an eighth day by the reckoning of Heaven.

The Cross of Enlightenment appeared luminous over the face of the sun, a pure white Light formed by seventy colors as a Seal of the Book of God’s New Law. And the Temple Mount was blanketed in Light, and the stones were lit by that Light.

The Man came down from the heights above the Temple Mount to the plain of mounts. And the staff became heavy, far too heavy for the strength of his hand. A whirlwind arose; swirling about him, it thrust the staff from his grasp. Separated from the rod of juniper wood, the insignia struck the ground.

As The Man looked at the headless staff with alarm and trepidation, he heard the Voice of The Word manifest in The Image in his Soul saying, “Lest you forget that all earthly authority passes away in time, remember that God’s Light is the True Rod of the Law. The Sign of that Light appears in Heaven beyond the reach of earthly elements and the hand of man, who has destroyed the works of former Lawgivers and Teachers, and robbed the human races of their inheritance.

“Yet, God, as Supreme Lawmaker and Saviour of the human Spirit, mends and heals all error.

“Take up the staff and insignia as an emblem of Office of Right Prophet, Teacher, and Lawgiver in the Final Age, bind them anew with a rod of iron and bands of the seven metals to be tested, and stand it upright between two pillars on this spot before the entrance to the Temple marked by The Word of God.

Let every Minister Ordained and Confirmed under vows take an oath to build the Church and the Orders and to preserve the Teachings from being profaned or taken from the world by human hands.

“Let each Minister represent God’s Image and Word under Divine Law, which is mightier than any army or material force under error and the Dominion of Darkness.

“And the Church and the Orders shall be given the fiery rays of the sun as an arm and a branch for Good.

“Let the Teachings issue from the Sanctuary, nurturing all peoples and nations for one New People, and one New Spiritual Nation, within America, under God.

“Let the staff be a sign to the peoples of the earth that God’s Light is Law given for their salvation and redemption from enslavement to Darkness.

“God has planted the staff herein as a seat of Spiritual Power. As long as it remains rooted here, God will commune with you and the successors of your seed and Spirit, and the land and the people shall be blessed. But if the Sanctuary be defiled, or taken from you or your successors by the land or the people, let the tower and the pillars, together with the mounts, be broken down, and the staff moved to another Sanctuary to be prepared and blessed by God’s Word.

“The Sanctuary desert shall flower and bloom, the herbs and the grasses and the fruit of the juniper trees shall bud for a healing, and Righteousness shall rain down from the sky for a blessing.

“Erect a shrine upon the unshakable rock before the mounts of the plain of the Temple in remembrance of the Revelations. A singing tower of rainbows touching the beams of heaven and the clouds of glory. And there open a well: Waters sparkling under the light of the perpetual Sun will abound for health and longevity.

“And God’s Presence shall descend over the Sanctuary grounds as a breath for life and renewal. And the sons and daughters of God’s family, assembled together, shall have visions of right understanding and of right knowledge of The Way of Holiness.

“And they shall not be confused, for the gift of Divine Language is given unto them. Their Spirits shall be Enlightened by God’s Power, their Souls perfected by God’s Counsel, and their countenance beautified by God’s Light. And the Holy Ones and Ministering Angels shall communicate with them out of the sun.

“The bread and the water of the communion tables shall satisfy their hunger and thirst of body. And the Commensal Meal shall satisfy their spiritual hunger and thirst; curing the wounds of Soul, it shall cleanse and purify them to eat of the True Bread from the Celestial Banquet Table and to drink the Living Waters from the Eternal Fount of Light for Resurrection and Salvation.

“And The Light of God shall invest them with Love, Goodness, Mercy, and Grace, and instruct them in Righteousness, Judgement, Justice, and Truth, making of them Peacemakers for all time in perpetual glory and majesty.

“The Ministers of God, ordained of Church or Holy Order, under the Yoke of the New Covenant of The Law, are instructed to set forth over the land, bearing a Staff of Authority and wearing a Mantle of Office of Estate, and proclaim God’s Second Advent and the establishment of Divine Order.

“The Commensal Ministers are bound, in unity, above all else, to God. They teach that separation from Divine Order perpetuates the generation of Darkness.

“God has apportioned to each Minister an equal share of Divine Light for nourishment of Soul. God does not succour those who breach the Law, or who disassociate themselves from The Church or the Religious Orders established by the Law of God’s Word, or who ration unto themselves a portion of the sun or The Light; for any individual, Church, or Order not commensurable with God’s Order exists under the disorder of Darkness.

“To them the sweetness of life turns sour and bitter for a curse, as occurred with the Angels who separated themselves from Divine Order in the First Advent.

“For them the Newly Created Light is eclipsed by the shadow of Darkness, the cause of all death; consenting to live the way of Darkness, they separate themselves from God, for God has no communion with Darkness.

“From the beginning God has never harmed any living thing nor caused suffering, disease, or death; being all Good and Loving, as the Angels of Light have testified by their appearance and visitation, God is the Father of Eternal Life.

“Knowing the weakness of the human Spirit and the failings of the mind, God, in His infinite Wisdom, has endowed the Light with Heavenly Grace commensurate with the Law. Therefore, let the Ordained mark their Spirits with Grace for the sake of their Souls in the knowledge that the cumulative effect of Order and attendance is redeeming.

“Let the Ordained continue the work begun by the Angel of Light, come into the world as a Righteous Child, who first proclaimed God’s Advent; for their Spirits are marked by God, even as your Spirit was marked, and their Souls bear the Seal of God, even as your Soul bears the Seal. All Spirits and Souls anointed of God were preordained before their birth to teach of God’s Advent.

“Let the Ordained reflect to the Sun and the Great Light thereof, transforming the bright and fiery rays to the softness of water for a healing over the congregations, and to the hardness of rock for a judgement of Dark Spirits.

“Teach the Righteous to behold the Face of their Creator manifest in the Light of Heaven without fear of sickness or death, for Darkness, henceforth, shall have no hold over them.”

The Voice ceased speaking. And taking up the staff with insignia, The Man walked down from the mountain of rock of the seven faceted mounts of the Temple to the valley below to join The Companions of The Way.

ANCIENT SCRIPTURE AND WISDOM SAYINGS

A Reading from the Gospel of John, Chapter 1:

In the beginning was the Word
and the Word was with God,
and the Word was God.
He was in the beginning with God.
Through Him everything came to be.
What came to be in Him was life
and life was the light of all people
and the light in the darkness shone
and the darkness could not apprehend the light.

There was a man sent from God.
His name was John.
He came as a witness in testimony of the light
so that all might believe through him.
He was not the light,
but he came to testify about the light.
The light was the true light,
which illuminates every person
who comes into the world.

He was in the world
and through him the world was born,
and the world did not know him.
He went to his own
and his own did not receive him.

To all who received him
he gave power to become the Children of God,
to those who believed in his name,
who were born hot from blood
or from the will of the flesh
of from the will of a man,
but were born of God.

“Real Philosophy”

2013-REP-Harold_Boulette_Solar_Wind

“Plato regarded philosophy as the greatest good ever imparted by Divinity to man. In the twentieth century, however, it has become a ponderous and complicated structure of arbitrary and irreconcilable notions—yet each substantiated by almost incontestable knowledge. The lofty theorems of the old Academy which Iamblichus likened to the nectar and ambrosia of the gods have been so adulterated by opinion—which Heraclitus declared to be a falling sickness of the mind—that the heavenly mead would now be quite unrecognizable to this great Neo-Platonist. …
“In his treatise on Atheism, Sir Francis Bacon tersely summarizes the situation thus: ‘A little philosophy inclineth man’s mind to atheism; but depth in philosophy bringeth men’s minds about to religion.‘” ~Manly P. Hall

Philosophy was once one of the great and noble fields of knowledge and its practitioners were highly respected individuals, kind of the celebrities of their day. But in modern times, real philosophy has been replaced by egotistical individuals simply stating their personal opinions about everything and calling that philosophy. Real philosophy is based on proper interpretation of divine knowledge and applying such knowledge to everyday situations. As a result of the degeneration of the field of philosophy to nothing more than the opinions found on the editorial page of the daily newspaper, there is little respect for this field anymore. While I haven’t made such studies myself, I suspect that if I were to go to a major university to get a degree in philosophy, instead of being taught how to gain access to divine wisdom (gnosis), I would be assigned to read the writing of various philosophers of the past.

It is therefore not much of a surprise that so much of the pretend philosopher of our modern times supports the idea of atheism. As Bacon said, when you just look at the surface of philosophy, or things in general for that matter, you are likely to come to false conclusions, but if you dig down deep, and keep your ego at bay, you will come to a very different conclusion.

I recently watched the animated movie “The Croods”, and one of the things I liked about it was the way it demonstrated that things are not always what they appear to be when we only view them superficially. First, we see the flock of cute little pink birds that look so cute and cuddly only to learn that they are essentially flying piranhas. Second, we find that the huge cat monster the cavemen have been hiding from for year is not chasing them to eat them, but because he wants to make friends and get his ears scratched.

Real philosophy is about getting to the truth behind the illusions, not about egotistical opinions.
