Pannuches Meal Rite

The 96th Pannuches Meal Rite was held Saturday, September 12, 2015 at 6:00 p.m.

The 97th Pannuches Meal Rite was held Saturday, October 31, 2015 at 6:00 p.m.

The 98th Pannuches Meal Rite was held Saturday, December 19, 2015 at 6:00 p.m.

Jubilee Sunrise Divine Services were held in Sanctuary on the Sunday mornings following the Pannuches Rite.

Christmas-Epiphany Vigil
The Twelve Days of Christmas are observed by tradition in the Second Advent Church. Beginning Friday, December 25, and continuing through the morning of Epiphany Eve, January 5, Sunrise Divine Services were scheduled to be held in Consecrated Sanctuary each morning at the Church of New Epiphany during these days of special blessing. On the thirteenth day, January 6, which is Epiphany Day, a special morning service at sunrise was held at the Consecrated Sanctuary.

The traditional Christmas Day Service of Communion, Candle Lighting, and Remembrance was held on Friday, December 25, at 11:00 a.m. in The Chapel of The Holy Child. Members of the congregation were asked to bring a bouquet of flowers to place beneath the communion table prior to the service and a loaf of bread to place on the communion table for special blessing.

Children’s Blessing
The annual Children’s Tea and Blessing was held at the Rectory-Abbey on Saturday, January 2, from 3:00-5:00 PM. While not a part of the Sacred Calendar of the Church, this Blessing is held each year during the Christmas-Epiphany Vigil. Children, parents, and other members of the Community gathered for the ceremonial blessing of the children of the Community, the breaking of the piñata, and other festivities.

Epiphany Eve Banquet
The annual Epiphany Eve Banquet and festivities took place at the Rectory-Abbey on Tuesday, January 5, 2015, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Members of the Community, their families, and special guests of the Bishop were invited to attend this special seasonal banquet. The banquet was styled after the colonial American tradition. The meal was followed by a visit from Santa and his reindeer and by gift-giving.

Epiphany Day
This thirty-fifth anniversary of Epiphany in the Second Advent Church was a day of special blessings and revelation in the Church and the day on which the Church commemorates the True Baptism of Jesus by God the Father. The Message given on January 6, 1981, is related in the Prophecy of the New Covenant:

“On this hallowed day of God’s Appearance, bountiful blessings manifest to the Holy Ones of Light of the Church of the Second Advent founded by His Word. To those unified in Community and holding to The Law, God sends forth the Comforting Spirit of His Image. As the Church has been restored, God will restore those blessings given to the First Church—now in apostasy—and make sacred those Holy Days that are kept in remembrance by the old Churches, but which are not alive with God’s blessings.

“In commemoration of this Day let The Community gather together once each year in remembrance and in fellowship. God will baptize all assembled in the Spirit of His Holiness. God gives an unmistakable Sign from Heaven in the New Sun as a mark of His Advent and Divine Presence. Let all behold the Signs of God manifest in the Heavens and know that their New Ministry is by God’s Authority, and that He has come to Judge the world. This Day is a day of confirmation of God’s Appearance, a day of blessing to strengthen the Good against the Powers of Darkness, and to empower them to teach.”

“In those abnormal types of personality to which we give the name of genius, we seem to detect a hint of the relations which may exist between these deep levels of being and the crust of consciousness in the poet, the musician, the great mathematician or inventor, powers lying below the threshold, and hardly controllable by their owner’s conscious will, clearly take a major part in the business of perception and conception. This is equally true of mystics, artists, philosophers, discoverers, and rulers of men. Real genius, creative genius, is more than a simple matter of having a large brain, reading a lot of books, or getting several college degrees. The true genius has opened channels to something deeper, something spiritual, inside himself and outside, that gives him insights into reality that no amount of intellectual studies can match. This is the type of genius we find in Leonardo da Vinci, Michaelangelo, and Albert Einstein. We can, of course, add to that list the great spiritual leaders that are generally not thought of as geniuses. They would include Jesus, Moses, Buddha, St. Francis, Jacob Boehm, Kahlil Gibran and many others.

Naturally, the materialistic powers of the world, especially the universities and trade schools that make a great deal of money selling their rather limited training, oppose this concept. No matter how much they try, however, they never seem to completely suppress such teachings.

Members of the Nevada Clergy Association gather for the 30th Annual Thanksgiving Eve Service at Little Flower Church on Thursday, November 25, 2015. About 600 people attended this multi-faith tradition.

Nearly 600 people of various faiths and backgrounds attended the 30th Annual Interfaith Thanksgiving Eve Service held at St. Therese Church of the Little Flower in Reno on Wednesday, November 25, 2015.

The event, themed “A Celebration of Religious Freedom,” is sponsored by the Nevada Clergy Association (NCA). This service, a much-revered tradition in the Reno-Sparks community and largely unique nationwide in its scope and diversity, includes prayers, readings, and music from a variety of faith traditions. Food and monetary donations were made to the Volunteers of America Shelter Programs.

Participating in the program from the International Community of Christ were the Rt. Reverends Gene Savoy Jr. and Sean Savoy. Rev. Gene Jr. delivered a reading from the “Thanksgiving Prayer” of the Dead Sea Scrolls. Rev. Sean, together with Pat Meidell of the Church of Latter-day Saints, delivered a presentation on the development of the Interfaith Spiritual Sanctuary at Renown Hospital in Reno.

Previous hosts of the past five years were the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd (2014), The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (2013), St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Cathedral (2012), St. John’s Presbyterian Church (2011), and Trinity Episcopal Church (2010).

A Reading from the Essene Gospel of Peace:

[And the Elder said to them:] After this manner, therefore, pray to your Heavenly Father, when the sun is high at midday: ‘Our Father who art in heaven, send to all the Sons of Men your angel of Peace; and send to our body the angel of Life to dwell therein for ever.’

“Then shall the Son of Man seek peace with his own thoughts; that the angel of Wisdom may guide him. For I tell you truly, there is no greater power in heaven and earth than the thoughts of the Son of Man. Though unseen by the eyes of the body, yet each thought has mighty strength, even such strength as can shake the heavens. “For to no other creature in the kingdom of the Earthly Mother is it given the power of thought, for all beasts that crawl and birds that fly, live not of their own thinking but of the one Law that governs all. Only to the Sons of Men is it given the power of thought, even that thought that can break the bonds of death. Do not think because it cannot be seen, that thought has no power. I tell you truly, the lightning that cleaves the mighty oak, or the quaking that opens up cracks in the earth, these are as the play of children compared with the power of thought. Truly each thought of darkness, whether it be of malice, or anger, or vengeance, these wreak destruction like that of fire sweeping through dry kindling under a windless sky. But man does not see the carnage, nor does he hear the piteous cries of his victims, for he is blind to the world of the spirit.

“But when this power is guided by holy Wisdom, then the thoughts of the Son of Man lead him to the heavenly kingdoms and thus is paradise built on earth; then it is that your thoughts uplift the souls of men, as the cold waters of a rushing stream revive your body in the summer heat.
