Each week of the liturgical year, a reading from Second Advent Scripture is delivered as part of the Saturday Communion of Fellowship Service held in the Chapel of the Holy Child. This reading follows the Sacred Calendar of the Church; that is, Prophecies and Revelations that have been received by The Church on sacred dates are recalled in a liturgical context during the appropriate season each year. This reading is delivered by the Officiant of the Communion Service (that is, Bishop Gene Savoy, or occasionally in his stead, Bishop Sean Savoy) just before the final blessings. Each service also includes a reading from the ancient scriptures, prayers, or wisdom sayings of various world religions past and present and is usually thematically related to the Second Advent Reading. This reading is delivered by the Reader right after the announcements that begin the service and is thus the first reading of the service. A Reading from the Testament of Levi:

I , Levi, . . . when I was feeding the flocks, the spirit of understanding of the Lord came upon me, and I saw all men corrupting the way, and that unrighteousness had built for itself walls, and lawlessness sat upon towers. And I was grieving for the race of the sons of men, and I prayed to the Lord that I might be saved. Then there fell upon me a sleep, and I beheld a high mountain, and I was upon it. And behold the heavens were opened and an angel of God said to me, “Levi enter.” And I entered from the first heaven, and I saw there a great sea hanging. And further I saw a second heaven far brighter and more brilliant, for there was a boundless light also therein. And I said to the angel, “Why Is this so?” And the angel said to me, “Marvel not at this, for thou shalt see another heaven even more brilliant and incomparable. And when thou hast ascended thither, thou shalt stand near the Lord, and be His minister, and shalt declare His mysteries to men, and proclaim concerning Him Who shall redeem Israel. And through thee and Judah shall the Lord appear among men, saving every race of men. And from the Lord’s portion shall be thy life, and He shall be thy field and vineyard, and fruits, gold, and silver.

In view of growing violence nationally and globally, diverse northern Nevada faith groups joined hands to pray together on December 20, 2016.

“Multi-faith Prayer Vigil for Peace & Unity” was an event coordinated by religious statesman Rajan Zed and hosted by South Reno United Methodist Church (SRUMC). Present at the event included representatives of the Christian, Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist, Jewish, Baha’i, Shinto, and Native American traditions. Attendees signed a banner pledging peace and unity. Representing the International Community of Christ as bishop and the Nevada Clergy Association as president was the Rt. Rev. Gene Savoy Jr.

The event started with lamp lighting by leaders of the various and diverse faith communities and prayers read in English, Sanskrit, Hebrew, Arabic, Pali, and Paiute languages. Some prayers were accompanied by flutes and taiko drums.

Zed, President of the Universal Society of Hinduism, speaking on the occasion, said: “In view of growing violence nationally and globally, many times targeting innocent people, there is the need to come together in prayer, dialogue, and community to bring light and hope to the spreading darkness.”

Participants included Dawn Pidlypchak, Senior Pastor of SRUMC; Rita K. Sloan, Life-Peace-Justice Commission Coordinator of Roman Catholic Diocese of Reno; Sherif A. Elfass, President of Northern Nevada Muslim Community; Shelly L. Fisher and Matthew T. Fisher, Priests at Reno Buddhist Center; ElizaBeth Webb Beyer, Rabbi of Temple Beth Or and Tahoe Hebrew Congregation; Roya Galata, Baha’i Teacher; Gene Savoy Jr, Head Bishop of International Community of Christ; Joseph E. Johnson, Sparks Stake President of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints; Brian E. Melendez, American Indian Spirituality Scholar; Becky Stockdale, Pastor at SRUMC; Rieko Shimbo, Director of Tsurunokai Taiko; and well know musician Oscar Dallas Smith III.

“The more you match other people’s varying frequencies without returning to your own center and home frequency, the more confused—and confusing to others—you become. … When you match a field with a low vibration and feel worse for doing it, the action may be unconscious, but it’s still your choice. … Because we tend to match each others frequencies, you might make a game of becoming a clear space in the world. You might ‘strike your tuning fork’ to radiate high-frequency energy to everyone you encounter. … Also note that groups have inner blueprints, or morphic fields, created by the collective.” ~Penney Peirce

Just as a tuning fork will pick up the frequency of another vibrating one and start vibrating at the same frequency, or as close to it as it can get, so do we. When we are around other people, our vibration rate is affected by theirs, and theirs is affected by ours. But just as the moons gravitational pull on the Earth is much less than the gravitation pull the Earth exerts on the moon, some people’s frequencies affect us more than others, and to some degree we can control this.

A Reading from the Prophet Malachi:

I will send my messenger, who will prepare the way before me. Then suddenly the Lord you are seeking will come to his temple; the messenger of the covenant, whom you desire, will come,” says the Lord Almighty. But who can endure the day of his coming? Who can stand when he appears? For he will be like a refiner’s fire or a launderer’s soap. He will sit as a refiner and purifier of silver; then the Lord will have men who will bring offerings in righteousness, and the offerings will be acceptable to the Lord, as in days gone by, as in former years.

“So I will come to put you on trial. You have said, ‘It is futile to serve God. What do we gain by carrying out his requirements and going about like mourners before the Lord Almighty? But now we call the arrogant blessed. Certainly evildoers prosper, and even when they put God to the test, they get away with it.’”

Then those who feared the Lord talked with each other, and the Lord listened and heard. A scroll of remembrance was written in his presence concerning those who feared the Lord and honored his name. “On the day when I act,” says the Lord Almighty, “they will be my treasured possession. I will spare them, just as a father has compassion and spares his son who serves him. And you will again see the distinction between the righteous and the wicked, between those who serve God and those who do not. For surely the day is coming; it will burn like a furnace. All the arrogant and every evildoer will be as stubble, and the day that is coming will set them on fire,” says the Lord Almighty. “Neither root nor branch will be left to them. But for you who revere my name, the sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its rays. And you will go out and frolic like well-fed calves.

“An aurora is one of the most wondrous things a person can witness on our great planet. If you happen to live near the North Pole (or the South Pole, in the case of the aurora australis) during the cold winter months, then you’re pretty much guaranteed a front row seat to this atmospheric spectacle.

“Because the intensity of an aurora depends on the amount of solar radiation hitting the atmosphere, catching one of these events during a massive solar flare can be an experience of a lifetime. Just ask photographer Henry Jun Wah Lee, who created this video, which displays the awe-inspiring auroral effects of a monster solar flare that hit the Earth this past March. The flare erupted as a result of the sun’s solar maximum, which is the peak of solar activity in the sun’s 11-year cycle. Because of the flare’s strength, the aurora was viewable in regions that virtually never see the northern lights.

“‘I was fortunate enough to be at the right place at the right time when the solar storm of the decade hit Earth,’ Jun Wah Lee writes of his time shooting his Apotheosis video in Iceland. ‘The sky was covered with auroras so strong, they were visible at dusk. This continued all night until dawn. In the film, you will see rare red, yellow, white, blue and violet purple auroras.’

“O Great and Bountiful One, … You prepared a compatible place for the spirits of man, a place wherein man rules under the decrees of you everlasting and unchanging Law. … The spirits of men rule in the mysterious domains governing the sun and the moon, the stars and the nightwatchers, the mistmen and the hidden caves of power. … You have created man in the likeness of an original conceived in your mysterious abode, and the manner of his life is fixed according to your plan. Great and wonderful is the ultimate destiny of man, who as yet, has progressed but a few steps along the road towards the goal of life. Yet, you have opened his ear to mysterious and wonderful things.” ~The Kolbrin Bible (SCL:20)

This particular chapter of the Kolbrin Bible seems to be confusing and mixing spiritual things and the non-spiritual world of matter, yet a spiritual student can glean some useful information from it.

We are told that God has prepared “a compatible place for the spirits of man.” That is absolutely true, but the place for the spirits of men is the spiritual realms—often called Heaven—not the physical or material level. Yet, it is true that God’s Divine Law governs the physical realm just as much as it governs the spiritual ones, the only difference being that in the physical world, the laws of nature are in between those of God and man so it may seem like God’s Law doesn’t rule here, but it does. Although Nature’s Law is dominant on the physical plane, Nature’s laws must always conform to God’s Law and therefore God’s Law is still in control on the lower levels.
