May 14, 2016: Chapel Readings

2016-PUL-2016-04-30_GeneSavoyJr

Each week of the liturgical year, a reading from Second Advent Scripture is delivered as part of the Saturday Communion of Fellowship Service held in the Chapel of the Holy Child. This reading follows the Sacred Calendar of the Church; that is, Prophecies and Revelations that have been received by The Church on sacred dates are recalled in a liturgical context during the appropriate season each year. This reading is delivered by the Officiant of the Communion Service (that is, Bishop Gene Savoy, or occasionally in his stead, Bishop Sean Savoy) just before the final blessings. Each service also includes a reading from the ancient scriptures, prayers, or wisdom sayings of various world religions past and present and is usually thematically related to the Second Advent Reading. This reading is delivered by the Reader right after the announcements that begin the service and is thus the first reading of the service. An audio recording of the reading from Second Advent Scripture delivered on the date above is provided here below together with a transcript of the first reading of the service that day.

SECOND ADVENT PROPHECY AND REVELATION

A Reading from the Book of God’s Revelation, “The Opening of the Seven Seals” (pp.78-80):

ANCIENT SCRIPTURE AND WISDOM SAYINGS

A Reading from the Prophetic Book of Isaiah:

11.1 A shoot shall come out from the stump of Jesse, and a branch shall grow out of his roots. 2 The spirit of the Lord shall rest on him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and the fear of the Lord. 3 His delight shall be in the Lord. He shall not judge by what his eyes see, or decide by what his eyes hear; 4 but with righteousness he shall judge the poor, and decide with equity for the meek of the earth; he shall strike the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips he shall [destroy] the wicked. 5 Righteousness shall be the belt around his waist, and faithfulness the belt around his loins.

6 The wolf shall live with the lamb, the leopard shall lie down with the kid, the calf and the lion and the fatling together, and a little child shall lead them. 7 The cow and the bear shall graze, their young shall lie down together; and the lion shall eat straw like the ox. 8 The nursing child shall play over the hole of the asp, and the weaned child shall put its hand on the adder’s den. 9 They will not hurt or destroy on all my holy mountain; for the earth will be full of the knowledge of the Lord as the waters cover the sea.

10 On that day the root of Jesse shall stand as a signal to the peoples; the nations shall inquire of him, and his dwelling shall be glorious. 11 On that day the Lord will extend his hand yet a second time to recover the remnant that is left of his people….12 He will raise a signal for the nations, and will assemble the outcasts, and gather the dispersed from the four corners of the earth.

12:1 You will say in that day: I will give thanks to you, O Lord, for though you were angry with me, your anger turned away, and you comforted me. 2 Surely God is my salvation; I will trust, and will not be afraid, for the Lord God is my strength and my might; he has become my salvation. 3 With joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation. 4 And you will say in that day: Give thanks to the Lord, call on his name; make known his deeds among the nations; proclaim that his name is exalted. 5 Sing praises to the Lord, for he has done gloriously; let this be known in all the earth. 6 Shout aloud and sing for joy, O (inhabitant of) Zion, for great in your midst is the Holy One.

“Awakening With the Solar Logos”

Night sky praise

“The Divine Spark does not derive from the Solar Logos but is conditioned by the evolution of the Solar logos until the cycle of its Solar development is completed. This takes place when the Individuality, as a result of certain evolutionary processes in the Solar Logoidal jurisdiction comes to the point where it need no longer stay in that jurisdiction but is able to recognize its own true being.” ~Dion Fortune

“The Divine Spark doesn’t come to us from the Solar Logos, but from God. It is found in our soul. But like a gas heater that won’t work if you don’t light the pilot light, that Divine Fire won’t burn if you don’t light the pilot light by awakening your dormant spiritual faculties.

“The Solar Logos is found in the Spiritual Sun or Sun of Righteousness and, if we want to benefit from it, we need to take in the light from the Spiritual Sun where it is found.”

SECOND ADVENT PROPHECY AND REVELATION

A Reading from the Book of God’s Revelation, “The Opening of the Seven Seals” (pp. 73-77).

ANCIENT SCRIPTURE AND WISDOM SAYINGS

A Reading from the Gospel of Philip:

It is from water and fire that the soul and the spirit came into being. It is from water and fire and light that the son of the bridal chamber (came into being). The fire is the chrism, the light is the fire. I am not referring to that fire which has no form, but to the other fire whose form is white, which is bright and beautiful, and which gives beauty.

Truth did not come into the world naked, but it came in types and images. The world will not receive truth in any other way. There is a rebirth and an image of rebirth. It is certainly necessary to be born again through the image. Resurrection. The image must rise again through the image. The bridal chamber and the image must enter through the image into the truth: this is the restoration. Not only must those who produce the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, do so, but they have produced them for you. . . .

The Lord did everything in a mystery, a baptism and a chrism and a eucharist and a redemption and a bridal chamber. . . . he said, “I came to make the things below like the things above, and the things outside like those inside. I came to unite them in the one place.”

“Ancient Alignment in the Andes Hints at Lost Global High Culture”

PHOTO: ancientexplorers.com

“In the 1970s the Dutch-Peruvian mathematician, Maria Sholten D’Ebneth wrote a book in which she claimed to have discovered, or rediscovered, an alignment of pre-Columbian sacred sites stretching from the ancient city of Tiwanaku (Tiahuanaco) in Bolivia to north of the city of Cajamarca in northern Peru. The alignment appeared to be incredibly accurate and covered a distance of around 1,000 miles (1,600 km), cutting across some of the highest mountains and steepest gradients in the entire world. The alignment had a precise orientation of exactly 45̊ West from true North, following the line of the Andes mountains.

“Published only in Spanish, and now out of print even in that language, Sholten D’Ebneth’s, La Ruta de Wiracocha (The Route of Viracocha)[i] contains a wealth of information hardly known to the English speaking world. The alignment’s association with Viracocha, the great Andean creator god, teacher and civiliser of humankind, is a highly significant one. Many legends concerning the feats of Viracocha speak of his undertaking a journey, from the city of Tiwanaku towards the North West, eventually to leave the shores of South America’s Pacific coast just south of the present day border between Peru and Ecuador. Viracocha’s legendary journey, Sholten D’Ebneth revealed, corresponded with her own geometrical discovery of the alignment of many of the most ancient and sacred sites in the Andes, including the famous ones at Cusco (Cuzco), Ollantaytambo and, of course, the great and mysterious complex of Tiwanaku.”

“Deeper Realities in Higher Consciousness”

Cloud Mind

“You have long been like a child tearing up the petals of flowers in order to make a mosaic on the garden path; and the result of this murderous diligence you mistook for a knowledge of the world. When the bits fitted with unusual exactitude, you called it science. Now at last you have perceived the greater truth and loveliness of the living plant from which you broke them; have, in fact, entered into direct communion with it, ‘united’ with its reality. But this very recognition … must entail for you a consciousness of deeper realities, which, as yet, you have not touched. … A mere cataloging of all the plants … will never give you access to the Unity, the Fact, whatever it may be, which manifests itself through them. To suppose that it can is the cardinal error of the ‘nature mystic’: an error parallel with that of the psychologist who looks for the soul in ‘psychic states.’” ~Evelyn Underhill

“A Surface Consciousness

“This quote from Underhill sounds mostly negative, but it has a positive side to it. She starts by complaining about the scientist who is like a child, tearing petals off a flower, arranging them in patterns, and thinking he now understands nature. It sounds foolish, but I remember reading a few years ago that scientists determine what nutrients are in foods by burning them and studying the ash left behind. That means that any nutrient that gets burned up in the process doesn’t get recognized. Hopefully, they have learned better and no longer use that method.

“She then adds a positive side to it by saying that the spiritual or mystical student, who recognizes that the whole living plant is more important than studying the chemical composition of the petals of the flower has learned an important lesson, and indeed he has.”
