October 8, 2016: Chapel Readings

2016-PUL-2016-06-11.SeanSavoy

Each week of the liturgical year, a reading from Second Advent Scripture is delivered as part of the Saturday Communion of Fellowship Service held in the Chapel of the Holy Child. This reading follows the Sacred Calendar of the Church; that is, Prophecies and Revelations that have been received by The Church on sacred dates are recalled in a liturgical context during the appropriate season each year. This reading is delivered by the Officiant of the Communion Service (that is, Bishop Gene Savoy, or occasionally in his stead, Bishop Sean Savoy) just before the final blessings. Each service also includes a reading from the ancient scriptures, prayers, or wisdom sayings of various world religions past and present and is usually thematically related to the Second Advent Reading. This reading is delivered by the Reader right after the announcements that begin the service and is thus the first reading of the service. An audio recording of the reading from Second Advent Scripture delivered on the date above is provided here below together with a transcript of the first reading of the service that day.

SECOND ADVENT PROPHECY AND REVELATION

A Reading from the Prophecy to the Races of Man, Chapter 56: “A Prayer for Universal Peace” (pp. 362-364)

ANCIENT SCRIPTURE AND WISDOM SAYINGS

A Reading from the Prophet Jeremiah:

The time is coming,” declares the Lord, “when I will make a new covenant. . . .
It will not be like the covenant I made with your forefathers
when I took them by the hand to lead them out of Egypt,
because they broke my covenant, though I was a husband to them,”
declares the Lord.

“This is the covenant I will make,”
declares the Lord.
“I will put my law in their minds and write it on their hearts.
I will be their God, and they will be my people.
No longer will a man teach his neighbor, or a man his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord,’
because they will all know me, from the least of them to the greatest.”

Fire Sweeps Rectory-Abbey

In mid-June a fire referred to as the Driscoll Fire swept by the Rectory Abbey, the residence of Bishop Gene Savoy Jr. and his family. Fire damage was kept to a minimum in the interior of the building, where only one wall actually burned through. However, smoke damage did occur on all floor levels of the residence. All the magnificent trees that once surrounded the Rectory were destroyed by the fire as well as much of the landscaping.

Insurance did not cover all the interior damage and covered none of the landscaping. Your pledged donation can help replace trees, plants, and shrubs as well as help complete necessary interior repairs. You will be receiving a pledge request from Reverend Mother Elizabeth Reece in the near future, if you have not received one already. Please help with the repairs!

“Dealing With Causation”

2016-rep-cause-and-effect-article

“Every cause has its effect; every effect has its cause; everything happens according to law; chance is but a name for law not recognized; there are many planes of causation, but nothing escapes the law” ~The Kybalion

“The principle of Cause and Effect embodies the truth that law pervades the universe; that nothing happens by chance. … The underlying principle of Cause and Effect has been accepted as correct by practically all the thinkers of the world worthy of the name. To think otherwise would be to take the phenomena of the universe from the domain of Law and Order, and to regulate it to the control of the imaginary something which men have called ‘chance’. … But a little consideration will show you there can be no such agent as ‘chance, in the sense of something outside of Law. … The existence of such a Something would render all natural Law ineffective.” ~Three Initiates

Causation

For many centuries, nearly all people have accepted cause and effect as a real thing. When a mining crew or construction engineer sets dynamite in a location to blow up a rock, he can be reasonably certain that the explosive will cause the rock it is under to explode. It won’t cause a random rock somewhere else to explode. It won’t send out streamer of confetti instead of exploding. It wont turn the rock into an elephant. It’s predictable. It follows laws, specifically the law of Cause and Effect (or causation).

Some have interpreted recent findings in the field of quantum physics as denying the law of causality, but I think this is a misinterpretation. What I have read doesn’t say that an effect does not have a cause, it says that a single event can be both a cause and an effect of another event. This, according to quantum theory, is because linear time is not real, therefore a future event can be the cause of a past effect just as easily as it can be the cause of a future one. So if an event seems to be an effect for which no cause can be found, it is possible that the cause simply hasn’t happened yet.

Gary Buchanan Speaking at International Water Conference

2016-spm-water_conference_2016

Reverend Canon Gary Buchanan will be in Sofia, Bulgaria October 6-9, 2016 to speak at the 11th Annual Water Conference. He will be speaking along with Dr. Gerald Pollack, an old colleague of his who has gained fame in recent years for his theory of fourth-phase water, and who is chairing the conference, and along with several Nobel Prize laureates. Rev. Buchanan’s work on Sonatherapy and his use of water to form archetypal cymagraphs made him a candidate for speaking at this prestigious international conference. In fact, his cymagraphs have gained so much interest that the conference organizers are using his cymagraphs on their Facebook page and throughout their newsletter.

Use the links below to find more information on the conference and to follow the conference live or streaming on Facebook.

SECOND ADVENT PROPHECY AND REVELATION

A Reading from the Prophecy to the Races of Man, Chapter 59:”The Blessings of Community Life” (pp. 378-382).

ANCIENT SCRIPTURE AND WISDOM SAYINGS

A Reading from the Gospel According to John 14:1-31:

[1] Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.

[2] In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.

[3] And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.

[4] And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know.

[5] Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way?

[6] Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

[7] If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him.

[8] Philip saith unto him, Lord, shew us the Father, and it sufficeth us.

[9] Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father?

[10] Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.

[11] Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works’ sake.

[12] Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.

[13] And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.

[14] If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.

[15] If ye love me, keep my commandments.

[16] And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;

[17] Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.

[18] I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.

[19] Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more; but ye see me: because I live, ye shall live also.

[20] At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you.

[21] He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.

[22] Judas saith unto him, not Iscariot, Lord, how is it that thou wilt manifest thyself unto us, and not unto the world?

[23] Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.

[24] He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father’s which sent me.

[25] These things have I spoken unto you, being yet present with you.

[26] But the Comforter, which is the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

[27] Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

[28] Ye have heard how I said unto you, I go away, and come again unto you. If ye loved me, ye would rejoice, because I said, I go unto the Father: for my Father is greater than I.

[29] And now I have told you before it come to pass, that, when it is come to pass, ye might believe.

[30] Hereafter I will not talk much with you: for the prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in me.

[31] But that the world may know that I love the Father; and as the Father gave me commandment, even so I do. Arise, let us go hence.

“Study Proves Extrasensory Mind-to-Mind Interaction at a Distance”

2016-REP-Extrasensory-Mind-to-Mind-Interaction-compressed

A group of international neuroscientists and robotics engineers have discovered for the first time that human brains can indeed “talk” directly to one another, even from thousands of miles away.
“A brain-to-brain communication study conducted in coordination with Harvard Medical School has proven that extrasensory mind-to mind interaction can happen over great distances by leveraging different pathways in the mind.

“The study, coauthored by Alvaro Pascual-Leone, Director of the Berenson-Allen Center for Noninvasive Brain Stimulation at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC) and a Professor of Neurology at Harvard Medical School, found that information can be successfully transmitted between two intact human brains from distances over 5000 miles apart.

“The researchers were curious if one could communicate directly with another person, and tested their hypothesis by reading the brain activity from one person injecting brain activity into the second individual. You could call it a neuro-physical version of ‘instant messaging.’ ”

“The Mystic’s World and Experience”

Concept illustration of positive energy and enlightenment

“The mystic assumes—because he tends to assume an orderly basis for things—that there is a relation, an analogy, between the microcosm of man’s self and the macrocosm of the world-self. Hence his experience, the geography of the individual quest, appears to him good evidence of the geography of the invisible. Since he must transcend his natural life in order to attain consciousness of God as essentially transcendent to the natural world. His description of that geography … will be conditioned by his temperament, by his powers of observation, by the metaphor which comes most readily to hand. … The so-called journey itself is a psychological and spiritual experience: the purging and preparation of the self, the movement to higher levels of consciousness, its unification with that more spiritual but normally unconscious self which is in touch with the transcendental order.” ~Evelyn Underhill

The Mystic’s Experience

“While the details of the awakening spiritual faculties of mystics may vary, the overall method doesn’t. Underhill does make a good point in that how the mystic describes that experience to others will vary depending on his education, background, religion and beliefs. It is like many catholic miracles where an angel or Being of Light appears to someone, but because of their beliefs and theological upbringing, they see as Mary. If the same spiritual being appears to a Jew, a Hindu, or an atheist, what that person will say she saw will be very different.”
