Each week of the liturgical year, a reading from Second Advent Scripture is delivered as part of the Saturday Communion of Fellowship Service held in the Chapel of the Holy Child. This reading is delivered by the Officiant of the Communion Service (that is, Bishop Gene Savoy, or occasionally in his stead, Bishop Sean Savoy) just before the final blessings. Each service also includes a reading from the ancient scriptures, prayers, or wisdom sayings of various world religions past and present and is usually thematically related to the Second Advent Reading. This reading is delivered by the Reader right after the announcements that begin the service and is thus the first reading of the service. The nations shall see your righteousness,

“We find nowadays many silly men who would be so interior and so detached, that they will not be active or helpful in any way of which their neighbors are in need. Know such men are neither hidden friends, nor true servants of God. …
“If thou dost desire to unfold in thyself the Contemplative Life, thou must enter within, beyond the sense life; and, on that apex of thy being, … look unto God with gratitude and love and continual reverence. Thou must keep thy thoughts bare, and stripped of every sensible image, thine understanding open and lifted up to the Eternal Truth, and thy spirit spread out in the sight of God s a living mirror to receive His everlasting likeness. Behold, therein appears a light of the understanding, which neither sense, reason, nature, nor the clearest logic can apprehend, but which gives us freedom and confidence toward God. It is nobler and higher than all that God has created in nature; for it is the perfection of nature, and transcends nature, and is the clear-shining intermediary between ourselves and God.” ~Ruysbroeck

Too Interior

Even though the two paragraphs I quoted from seem to be on different subjects, they are related in one important way. In the second one, Ruysbroeck advises us to turn within for enlightenment, to achieve higher states of consciousness. But this should not lead you to believe that all answers are withing, and all spiritual growth occurs when looking within. The first paragraph helps clear that up when he tells us that we must not be so interior as to be inactive in the physical world and unwilling or unable to help other who need our help (especially, I might add, those who need help finding their way to the Path of Light, the Path of Enlightenment).

The theme of the celebration this year was “Freedom and Justice for Change.” And this was the theme of the keynote speaker in 2017, Imam Abdul Barghouthi.

Imam Abdul Barghouthi immigrated to the US from Palestine in 1978 seeking freedom and education. He has been a volunteer Imam at the Northern Nevada Muslim Community Center since 2000, and since 2001 has been an active member of the Nevada Clergy Association. At the center of his work is the effort to close the gaps and create an environment of dialogue and understanding between the various cultures and religious group in the northern Nevada community. An advocate for equality justice and peace for all, he works to empower those who seek hope and change, and help those who seek knowledge about Islam and Muslims.

Imam Barghouthi has lectured and spoken in many venues and appeared on TV and Radio numerous times over the last 16 years.

Imam Barghouthi has raised four children, two girls and two boys. One of his boys is an army veteran and the father of two grandchildren.

“Now therefore we say (as the Scripture informs us) that God dwells in Heaven, and it is the Truth. Now mark, Moses writes that God created the heaven out of the Midst of the Waters, and the Scripture says, God dwells in Heaven; therefore we may now observe. That the Water has its origin from the longing of the eternal Nature after the eternal Light of Good.; but the eternal Nature is made manifest by the longing after the Light of God, as is mentioned before; and the Light of God is present everywhere, and yet remains hidden to Nature. …
“Therefore, O noble Man, let not Antichrist and the devil before you, who tells you that the Deity is far off from you, and directs you to a Heaven that is situated far above you; whereas there is nothing nearer to you than Heaven is. You only stand before the Door of Heaven, you stand in the Gate” ~Jacob Boehme

God in Heaven

It is a variation of the old “Which came first, the chicken pr the egg?” question. If God dwells in Heaven than log would dictate that Heaven existed before God. If that were the case, who created heaven, and why? On the other hand, if God came first, then created Heaven, where was God before Heaven existed? These question are a dilemma, a paradox, at least to the logical brain-mind.

Here is where you go astray with this; you can’t think of God, Heaven, or anything spiritual, and relate it to time. The entire concept of time doesn’t exist there. It has no relevance. God didn’t exist before Heaven and heaven didn’t exist before God because the use of the idea “before” implies time, and specifically linear time, in a realm where time does not exist at all. Since time doesn’t exist in spiritual worlds, a time-based dilemma cannot exist there either. The paradox exists only in your brain-mind, not in the reality of Heaven and God.

Several members of the Community are preparing to visit potential sites for a Cosolargy Center in Mexico. From Reno, Bishop Gene Savoy Jr. and his daughter Sophia, Reverend Mothers Elizabeth Reece and Rebecca Willis, Reverends Karen and Jim Elliott, and healing center directors Muriel and John Curry. And from Texas, Reverend Ron Theriault.

The group will be in Los Barriles, Baja California Sur, Mexico for the week of February 20-27, 2017 touring the Los Barriles area and visit sites that could soon house a Cosolargy Center in Mexico.

There are several purposes of the visit in February: to expose members of the Church to the Los Barriles area; to meet with the Church’s attorney and realtor on the Cosolargy corporation and property options; and to hopefully purchase or secure property for the Community’s health, wellness and Cosolargy center. The proposed Center will include a spa, accommodations, restaurant, shops and has 100 yards of beachfront on the Sea of Cortez (also known as the Gulf of California and the Vermilion Sea).

Previous visits to Los Barriles were made in 2015 by Bishop Gene Savoy Jr. and Steamboat Healing Center and Spa Director John Curry on information-gathering and fact-finding missions for The Community’s planned project for a retreat, conference center, and hot springs facility. In that formative stage in the project process, they met with real estate agents, geothermal experts, engineers, well drillers, building contractors and architects, government officials, accountants and banks, in addition to consulting with the Church’s attorney in Mexico.

The Community’s corporation, Cosolargy International, which has already been formed in Mexico, allows for religious gatherings and assemblies, the establishment of the Jamilian University and the Cosolargy Academy, the dissemination of educational and other material in every media format, the formation of health and wellness facilities, and the ability to have sub-corporations and engage in agreements with second parties. The corporation has the right to conduct its operations anywhere in Mexico.
