May 13, 2017: Chapel Readings

Each week of the liturgical year, a reading from Second Advent Scripture is delivered as part of the Saturday Communion of Fellowship Service held in the Chapel of the Holy Child. This reading follows the Sacred Calendar of the Church; that is, Prophecies and Revelations that have been received by The Church on sacred dates are recalled in a liturgical context during the appropriate season each year. This reading is delivered by the Officiant of the Communion Service (that is, Bishop Gene Savoy, or occasionally in his stead, Bishop Sean Savoy) just before the final blessings. Each service also includes a reading from the ancient scriptures, prayers, or wisdom sayings of various world religions past and present and is usually thematically related to the Second Advent Reading. This reading is delivered by the Reader right after the announcements that begin the service and is thus the first reading of the service. An audio recording of the reading from Second Advent Scripture delivered on the date above is provided here below together with a transcript of the first reading of the service that day.

SECOND ADVENT PROPHECY AND REVELATION

A Reading from the Book of God’s Revelation, “The Opening of the Seven Seals” (pp.78-80).

ANCIENT SCRIPTURE AND WISDOM SAYINGS

A Reading from the Prophetic Book of Isaiah:

11.1 A shoot shall come out from the stump of Jesse, and a branch shall grow out of his roots. 2 The spirit of the Lord shall rest on him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and the fear of the Lord. 3 His delight shall be in the Lord. He shall not judge by what his eyes see, or decide by what his eyes hear; 4 but with righteousness he shall judge the poor, and decide with equity for the meek of the earth; he shall strike the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips he shall [destroy] the wicked. 5 Righteousness shall be the belt around his waist, and faithfulness the belt around his loins.

6 The wolf shall live with the lamb, the leopard shall lie down with the kid, the calf and the lion and the fatling together, and a little child shall lead them. 7 The cow and the bear shall graze, their young shall lie down together; and the lion shall eat straw like the ox. 8 The nursing child shall play over the hole of the asp, and the weaned child shall put its hand on the adder’s den. 9 They will not hurt or destroy on all my holy mountain; for the earth will be full of the knowledge of the Lord as the waters cover the sea.

10 On that day the root of Jesse shall stand as a signal to the peoples; the nations shall inquire of him, and his dwelling shall be glorious. 11 On that day the Lord will extend his hand yet a second time to recover the remnant that is left of his people….12 He will raise a signal for the nations, and will assemble the outcasts, and gather the dispersed from the four corners of the earth.

12:1 You will say in that day: I will give thanks to you, O Lord, for though you were angry with me, your anger turned away, and you comforted me. 2 Surely God is my salvation; I will trust, and will not be afraid, for the Lord God is my strength and my might; he has become my salvation. 3 With joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation. 4 And you will say in that day: Give thanks to the Lord, call on his name; make known his deeds among the nations; proclaim that his name is exalted. 5 Sing praises to the Lord, for he has done gloriously; let this be known in all the earth. 6 Shout aloud and sing for joy, O (inhabitant of) Zion, for great in your midst is the Holy One.

“Spiritual Harmony and Spiritual Synergy to Transform the World”

“If they [spiritual people] did harmonize—if everybody did—then, by these individual adjustments the complete group-consciousness of humanity would be changed, brought back into conformity with the transcendent; and the spiritual world would be actualized within the temporal order at last. Then that world of false imagination, senseless conflicts, and sham values, into which our children are now born, would be annihilated. The whole race, not merely a few of its noblest, most clear-sighted spirits, would be ‘in union with God’; and men transfused by the light, … would achieve that completeness of life which the mystics dare to call ‘deification’. This is the substance of that redemption of the world, which all religions proclaim or demand, the consummation which is crudely imagined in the Apocalyptic dreams of the prophets and seers. It is the true incarnation of the Divine Wisdom.” ~Evelyn Underhill

Spiritual Harmony

“It is a great thing to be spiritual. It is wonderful that in this time of rampant materialism of the worse kind, some are awaking to the need for something else and following one spiritual school or another. But then there is the old tale of synergy. This is the tale as given to my systems analysis class at Orange Coast college in California back in 1972.

“Cave man Ug is out hunting. So is cave man Gub. Ug is chasing a fast rabbit around a large rock. Gub is doing the same. Both are getting worn out and not getting any closer to their rabbit. Then Gub notices Ug nearby and gets an idea. He move over to the rock where Ug is chasing a rabbit, and when the rabbit comes around to where he is waiting, bonks it. He then Gets Ug to go to the other rock and do the same with the rabbit he was chasing. Now they both have a rabbit because they worked together.

“That is called synergy. When many work together for the same goal, they accomplish more than the same people working separately for the same goal. This doesn’t just work for cavemen hunting. It works for companies. It works for families and countries. And it can work on a spiritual level as well.”

Weekly Message: May 8, 2017

HEAD OVERSEER’S WEEKLY MESSAGE

Monday, May 8, 2017

Good morning. I write this to you after being awakened by the sounds of morning birds to greet today’s sunrise on Waikiki in the Hawaiian Islands. I’m in transit to Japan to meet with our Community there and will be spending a week with them at our base in Kurume on Kyushu. As I greeted the source of life this morning, its rays reminded me of the ancient Hawaiian proverb that “our purpose in life is to seek its highest form.”
When I attended last week the International Light Association’s annual conference in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, I was impressed by the assembly of scientists, medical professionals, therapists, and energetic healers who work in the fields of light, color and sound. They, too, in their own way, are seeking life in its highest form. However, because the source of life is primarily light, which emerges in physical form much like the atom from another dimension, the physical sciences can only take their research so far. That research has, indeed, progressed by “light years” over the past few decades. But, we know that the spiritual answers lie hidden in meanings known to the ancients and repossessed by The Community and within the Sacred Teachings of Light and the Universal System of Cosolargy.
Nevertheless, the ILA conference was positive to attend. Our Reverend Doctor Gary Buchanan presented a wonderful dissertation on the three topics of light, color and sound from our perspective. I was also pleased to see and listen to two of our good friends in the scientific and therapeutic fields, Drs. James Oschman and Jacob Lieberman. Both have attended and presented at our Cosolargy conferences in past years.

Gary Buchanan, James Oschman, and Gene Savoy, Jr

Next week’s message will be coming to you from the Land of the Rising Sun. Until then, I think these words from the 13th century Persian poet-mystic, Rumi, are appropriate: “There are two who are never satisfied: The lover of the world and the lover of knowledge….The Angel is free because of his knowledge, the beast because of his ignorance. Between the two remains the son of man to struggle.”
Once again, please feel free to ask me any questions by calling 775-786-7432 or emailing me at messages@cosolargy.org. I am always at your service.
Many blessings in Light+,
Gene

ANCIENT SCRIPTURE AND WISDOM SAYINGS

A Reading from the Gospel of John 15:

I am the true vine, and my Father is the vinegrower.
He removes every branch in me that bears no fruit. Every branch that bears fruit he prunes to make it bear more fruit. You have already been cleansed by the word that I have spoken to you.
Abide in me as I abide in you.
I am the vine, you are the branches. Those who abide in me and I in them bear much fruit, because apart from me you can do nothing. . . .
My father is glorified by this, that you bear much fruit.

As the Father has loved me, so I have loved you: abide in my love.
If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commandments and abide in his love.
I have said these things to you so that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be complete. This is my commandment, that you love one another, as I have loved you.
No one has greater love than this, to lay down one’s life for his friends.
You are my friends if you do what I command you.
I do not call you servants any longer, because the servant does not know what the master is doing; but I have called you friends, because I have made known to you everything that I have heard from my Father.
You did not choose me but I chose you. And I appointed you to go and bear fruit, fruit that will last. I am giving you these commandments so that you may love one another.
If the world hates you, be aware that it hated me before it hated you.
If you belonged to the world, the world would love you as its own. Because you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world – therefore the world hates you.
Remember the word that I said unto you, ‘Servants are not greater than their master.’ If they persecuted me, they will persecute you . . . .
But when the Comforter comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who comes from the Father, he will testify on my behalf.

“Controversial study claims humans reached Americas 100,000 years earlier than thought”

“Broken mastodon bones hint that Homo sapiens wasn’t the first hominin to get to the New World.”

Many scientists hold the view that homo sapiens came to the Americas less than 20,000 years ago, but ancient rock and bone fragments discovered in southern California suggest humans may have been around more than 100,000 years earlier than originally believed. The controversial claim, outlined in a study published April 26 2017 in the journal Nature, could mean humans settled in North America much earlier than most scientists accept. The article also includes a nice video where some pros and cons of the discovery are discussed.

“Community of the Children of Light”

“Our community has existed ever since the first day of creation, when God spoke the word, ‘Let there be light,’ and it will continue to exist until the end of time. It is the society of the children of light, whose bodies are formed of light, and who live in the light forever. … The mysteries which we know embrace everything that can possible be known in regard to God, Nature, and Man. … Our place of meeting is the temple of the Holy Spirit pervading all nature, easily found by the Elect, but forever hidden from the eyes of the vulgar. … Our secrecy is not caused by an unwillingness to give; but by the incapacity to receive on the part of those that ask for instruction.” ~Franz Hartmann

The Community

“Many reading the quote will quickly point out that there have been many spiritual and mystery schools throughout the ages. That is true, but they are really all one community.

“In ancient times, there were schools in Egypt, Greece, and elsewhere. They had different names and the details of their teachings varied, but in essence were the same. Likewise, the Essene communities of Judea, the Therapeutae of Egypt, and similar groups in other times and location were really all one community and considered themselves so. Although Historians only consider the Essenes to have existed for a century or two, the Essenes themselves claimed to have been in existence for thousands of years under many different names. And they are awakening again today under different names including the community of Cosolargy in the United States (but with members in many nations).”
