October 28, 2017: Chapel Readings

 

 

Each week of the liturgical year, a reading from Second Advent Scripture is delivered as part of the Saturday Communion of Fellowship Service held in the Chapel of the Holy Child. This reading follows the Sacred Calendar of the Church; that is, Prophecies and Revelations that have been received by The Church on sacred dates are recalled in a liturgical context during the appropriate season each year. This reading is delivered just before the final blessings. Each service also includes a reading from the ancient scriptures, prayers, or wisdom sayings of various world religions past and present and is usually thematically related to the Second Advent Reading. This reading is delivered by the Reader right after the announcements that begin the service and is thus the first reading of the service. An audio recording of the reading from Second Advent Scripture delivered on the date above is provided here below together with a transcript of the first reading of the service that day.

SECOND ADVENT PROPHECY AND REVELATION

A Reading from the Prophecy to the Races of Man, Chapter  68: “The Battle for Control of Man” (pp. 439-447).

 

ANCIENT SCRIPTURE AND WISDOM SAYINGS

A Reading from the Gospel of Truth:

The gospel of truth is joy to those who have received from the Father of truth the gift of knowing him by the power of the Logos, who has come from the Pleroma and who is in the thought and the mind of the Father; he it is who is called “the Savior,” since that is the name of the work which he must do for the redemption of those who have not known the Father. . . .

Since the perfection of the totality is in the Father, it is necessary for the Totality to ascend to him. Therefore, if one has knowledge, he gets what belongs to him and draws it to himself. For he who is ignorant is deficient, and it is a great deficiency, since he lacks that which will make him perfect. Since the perfection of the Totality is in the Father, it is necessary for the Totality to ascend to him and for each one to get the things which are his. He enrolled them first, having prepared them to be given to those who came from him. . . .

Those whose name he knew in advance were called last, so that the one who has knowledge is he whose name the Father has pronounced. For he whose name has not been spoken is ignorant. Indeed, how shall one hear if his name has not been uttered? For he who remains ignorant until the end is a creature of forgetfulness and will perish with it. If this is not so, why have these wretches no name, why do they have no sound? Hence, if one has knowledge, he is from above. If he is called, he hears, he replies, and he turns toward him who called him and he ascends to him and he knows what he is called. Since he has knowledge, he does the will of him who called him. He desires to please him and he finds rest. He receives a certain name. He who thus is going to have knowledge knows whence he came and whither he is going.

“Infused Contemplation for Divine Knowledge and Oneness”

 

 

“Intuitive or infused contemplation is the form of communion with the transcendent proper to those who have grown up to the state of Union; and feel and know the presence of God within the soul, as a love, a life, an ‘in-drawing attraction,’ calling and enticing all things to the still unachieved consummation of the Divine unity. He who has reached this pitch of introversion, and s able, in his spiritual exercises, to withdraw himself thus to the most secret part of his spirit, feels—within the Eternal Light which fill his mirror and is ‘united with it,’—this perpetual demand of the Divine unity, entreating and urging him. … Then he will live at those levels to which he now makes impassioned ascents in his hours of unitive prayer.” ~Evelyn Underhill

Infused Contemplation

While I was raised in the Catholic Church, I don’t recall ever hearing the term “Infused contemplation”. When I looked it up, though, I find that it is a defined as higher contemplation in the Catholic Church. Specifically, it refers to those who concentrate on becoming one with God and on serving God. Serving God, not the church. In today’s world, serving a church and serving God is rarely the same thing.

Funeral of Judge Patrick Flanagan Attended

 

Judge Patrick Flanagan

Funeral Mass was held for Judge Patrick Flanagan (1953-2017) on October 12, 2017 at Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Church, Reno, Nevada. Bishop Gene and Radhelka Savoy attended the service.

Flanagan, chief judge of Washoe County District Courts, was an acquaintance of Bishop Savoy and much admired by him.

His legal career began after graduation from California Western School of Law in 1978. Moving to Reno after graduation to work as a Washoe County Appellate Public Defender. As a Federal Public Defender he appeared in front of the US Supreme Court in Sumner v. Shuman (1987) and numerous Ninth Circuit court appearances.

Flanagan’s obituary states: “He was a formidable champion for a fair, unbiased and just legal system. He never wavered in his pursuit for justice and quality legal services for all people regardless of money, citizenship, race, age, or religion. Prior to his death, he was pursuing his Masters in Law with a final thesis on expanding the role of Paralegals to assist the underserved community with mediation and pre-trial services. Throughout his legal career he was dedicated to upholding our Constitution and improving the legal system for all.”

HEAD OVERSEER’S WEEKLY MESSAGE

October 24, 2017

Hello, dear Fellow of Cosolargy. It is with great joy that I write to you this week. We experienced this past Sunday (October 22nd) at our Sanctuary a most beautiful sunrise! The weather here has been unusually warm and full of bright skies with no wind and no clouds. It has been a most spectacular time of the year for us. The trees are turning color, and it seems we are having a real Autumn which can be rare here in the high desert.

The Community will soon be focusing on expansion and outreach with an emphasis on online services, including updated web sites and better social media presence. In addition, construction of the Community’s newest residence at Red Rock is nearing completion and plans are underway for minor renovations to our Steamboat Hot Springs this Winter and more significant ones next Spring and Summer. I also hope to have additional good news for you on other fronts soon, as well.

I would like to announce the dates for next year’s Convocation. They are Tuesday, September 4 through Sunday, September 9, 2018. Please mark this in your calendars now and make arrangements to attend. Your presence is very much needed!

This week, keep in your mind that God through Light inspires the building of a new Church filled with His Light and His Word within that Light which is His Thought and Will. God’s Word cannot be, and is not, confined to paper. Rather, it speaks to man and woman through Spirit to the righteous of the Earth in harmony with divine Vibration and Resonance. The Angels of Light, the Prophets of God, and the Holy Ones of times past, as well as the living Saints, are part of the invisible Church, which is God’s Body. You and I are part of God’s Body comprising the visible Community, freed from the restrictions of the past.

Our Community, which is not still in infancy but which is yet in adolescence, is a part of the New Creation in the works. God has shed His Light into the world so that every person may be redeemed from Darkness and partake of their spiritual nature in goodness and righteousness. God wants everyone to understand that they are divine, immortal, and part of the eternal Creation in which there is no pain, sorrow, suffering or death at all. Our Teaching allows us to attain Godhood and to participate in spiritual immortality which is accomplished within Light.

Please keep up your good prayers, positive thoughts, and spiritual inflections and reflections to the Sun of Righteousness. I am feeling them! I look forward to communing with you throughout the week in Light and writing to you again next week.

ANCIENT SCRIPTURE AND WISDOM SAYINGS

A Reading from the Sermons of Hermes Trismegistus:

[Hermes’ son said to him:] Father, instruct me of Regeneration, either by word of mouth or secretly; for I know not, O Trismegistus, of what Substance, or what Seed, or what Womb a man is thus born.
O Son, this wisdom is to be understood in silence, and the seed is the true Good.
Who sows it, O Father?
The Will of God, O Son.
And what manner of Man is he that is thus born?
Son, things of this kind are not taught, but are by God, when he pleases, brought to remembrance.
Then tell me this, who is the Author and Maker of Regeneration?
The Child of God, one Man by the Will of God.
Now, O Father, you have put me to silence forever, and all my former thoughts have quite left and forsaken me; for I see the greatness and shape of things here below and nothing but falsehood in them all.
O Son, hold your peace, and praise God in silence, and by that means the mercy of God will not cease, or be wanting to us. Therefore, rejoice, my Son, from henceforward, being purged by the powers of God, to the Knowledge of the Truth. For the revelation of God is come to us, and when that came, all ignorance was cast out.
Whoseoever therefore has of Mercy obtained this Generation, which is according to God, he, leaving all bodily sense, knows himself to consist of divine things, and he rejoices, being made by god stable and immutable.

“Twice Born Goal of the Spiritual Student”

 

 

“For long years, he who aspired to become one of the Twice Born had to practice the awakening of his spirit and bring his body under complete control. The first thing to overcome was met long before any threshold was approached. It was something which lurked in the uncontrolled thoughts of men. The frightening experiences during the years of preparation had to be modified and their effect channeled off; otherwise, the awakened spirit would have been completely overwhelmed. …

“Having arisen from the Womb of Rebirth, the spirit is completely freed from any doubt about the immortality of man. Can a man doubt the source of sunlight when he can see the sun arising in glory before his eyes? Having joined the Twice born, … he can go on to higher development within the Realms of Light.” ~The Kolbrin Bible (SOF:2:21-22)

Twice Born Aspirations

The “Twice Born” are those who have has a second, birth, a spiritual birth, an awakening of their soul. Many aspire to be twice born, but don’t know what to do. Others, when told it is a difficult process that will probably take years, decide they can’t be bothered. Then of course, there are those who will remain comfortable in the fantasy that they will someday achieve rebirth and spiritual enlightenment with no effort on their part.

But as the quote indicates, the serious spiritual student will practice his awakening techniques regularly until that awakening happens. Then he/she will join the ranks of the twice born.

HEAD OVERSEER’S WEEKLY MESSAGE

October 17, 2017

It is my great pleasure to be writing to you again after my sabbatical of the last month. The time was well spent – a time of rejuvenation, contemplation, reflection, and for visiting some fascinating historical sites. Many of you know that I am a lover of history, and I was privileged to see, for instance, the 13th century Mappa Mundi and one of four originals of the Magna Carta. I saw these, as well as the great Chained Library, at Hereford Cathedral in England. This is just one of many places I visited, and you can learn more at www.herefordcathedral.org.

For those of you who attended Convocation last month, I say, “Thank you for coming!” For those of you who were unable to attend, I want you to know that this year’s Convocation was uniquely special, as each one of them are. It was a strong gathering with many effective presentations and several illuminating sunrises at our Red Rock Sanctuary. I encourage you to make plans now to attend next year’s gathering, as we are presently making preparations for it in 2018.

October is the month that we in The Community observe and honor human spiritual rights. In 1962, the original Universal Proclamation of Human Spiritual Rights was adopted by The Community. I encourage you to read the Proclamation by going to http://www.arrf.org/frame_proc.htm. This profound document was later amended on October 12, 2000, Human Spiritual Rights Day. Please take some time to re-read its magnificent words.

We may also recall the words spoken by The Child to The Man on October 12, 1977, as recorded in “The Prophecy to the Races of Man” as the second Ship of Light, Feathered Serpent II, lay at anchor in Venezuela:

“…God would not that enlightened ones be punished again. For this reason God has put into their hands the light of a new sun to work upon the minds and spirits of man. Never before have God’s spiritual ones been aided from heaven in this manner. For I say unto you that this is the last and final age of the world which is to burn of fire so a new creation can come forth as God intended from the beginning. God would have you pray to the sun for the ignorant and worldly. For your prayers shall be carried on sunbeams to the source of all creation which dwells in the heart of the new sun. God has willed that the enlightened of the earth not be abandoned to darkness as in the past ages of the earth. Therefore, teach those of the Community how to reflect their wills to God through the sun that there may be universal peace in the world among all peoples and nations. And if the prayers be virtuous and pious from enlightened souls bound in unity and in community as founded by my person, and one of goodly order, then God will hear and answer….”

I ask of you for the remainder of this month observing the spiritual rights of every person to specifically send your prayers on sunbeams to the source of all creation that there may be peace among all peoples and nations in realization that all members of the human family are endowed with the qualities of God and originally were generated as righteous Beings of Light but have been alienated from the Worlds of Light by error and ignorance caused by Darkness. Let us pray this month together.
