Each week of the liturgical year, a reading from Second Advent Scripture is delivered as part of the Saturday Communion of Fellowship Service held in the Chapel of the Holy Child. This reading follows the Sacred Calendar of the Church; that is, Prophecies and Revelations that have been received by The Church on sacred dates are recalled in a liturgical context during the appropriate season each year. This reading is delivered just before the final blessings. Each service also includes a reading from the ancient scriptures, prayers, or wisdom sayings of various world religions past and present and is usually thematically related to the Second Advent Reading. This reading is delivered by the Reader right after the announcements that begin the service and is thus the first reading of the service. They shall not labor in vain,
Nor bring forth children in trouble;

Beijing’s Buddhist diplomacy depends on controlling the Tibetan leader’s next reincarnation.

“China’s brutal crackdown on its Muslims has attracted a global outcry and shows no signs of slowing in 2019. This extends to other faiths: Chinese Christians, Taoists, and Buddhists are also facing a new wave of repression. But while China is backtracking its accommodation of religious citizens within its borders, it’s doing the opposite outside them.

“With an energetic, multibillion-dollar, transnational campaign, China wants to harness Buddhism for soft power across Asia. It calls Buddhism an “ancient Chinese religion” and has spent $3 billion to revive the birthplace of the Buddha, the Nepalese town of Lumbini. It has been holding World Buddhist Forums since 2006 with monks from all over the world. It is pouring in money to revive the Gandhara trail of Buddhist sites in Pakistan, linking heritage revival to its Belt and Road Initiative. It’s building a Buddhist center in Myanmar’s capital and funding the study and translation of Buddhist texts. (In contrast to this expansive global vision, it also announced this month a five-year plan to “Sinicize” Buddhism for practitioners inside its borders.)”

Spiritual Humility

“Many people do good deeds. Some do it for God, some not. Some do it primarily for recognition. They will donate only to charities who publicly announce the donations. They are not being charitable, they are buying acclaim.

“St. Macarius says this is the wrong approach. No matter how many good deeds we do, spiritual or physical, we should not brag about it, but give the credit to God who inspires that devotion. In doing that, we show proper humility. Sadly, today, humility is not a popular virtue on Earth, but it still matters a great deal in Heaven. Spiritual humility is an important spiritual attribute.”

Dr. Rollier’s main heliotherapy clinic at Leysin, Switzerland

Dr. Auguste Rollier opened the first European “Sun Clinic” in 1903 at Leysin, Switzerland. He also wrote a very influential book: Heliotherapy. And during his time, Dr. Rollier was considered the most famous heliotherapist in the world. At his peak, he operated 36 clinics.

Dr. Rollier espoused that the sun was an unsurpassed broad-spectrum medicine. He healed his patients using a wholesome diet combined with the power of the sun. By 1933, there were over 165 different diseases successfully treated with heliotherapy including tuberculosis, wounds, rickets, and much more.

Dr. Rollier’s death in 1954 marked the end of sun therapy — not because it was ineffective but because it had been replaced by Big Pharma’s “miracle drugs.”

HEAD OVERSEER’S WEEKLY MESSAGE

It is good to be writing to you again. I apologize for the delay since my last communication, however, things gave been very active here at the Community Center during and since the Christmas-Epiphany Season and Vigil.

I would like to focus today on the Second Advent Vigil which begins in earnest tonight, January 29th at midnight. It has been my lifelong habit to read the book, Jamil: Child of Light, especially the last three chapters (25-27): “The Child Returns to the Worlds of Light,” “At the Sepulcher,” and “The Sun of Righteousness Proclaimed,” which describe the events that took place some 57 years ago.

Tonight at midnight is when The Child, Jamil, passed in 1962. I have shared with you previously a ritual of mine which I have observed every year since I was about ten years old. It is very simple. It certainly is not mandatory, but if you like, you may also do it somewhere in your home, especially at your Cosolargy Shrine, if you have erected one. Again, it is very simple.

As said, The Child, Jamil, passed at midnight on the cusp of January 29/30. So, tonight, after my sunset reflections, I will light a candle and some incense which I place in the Chapel at the Rectory with some fresh flowers. For those of you who have a picture of Jamil, you may want to place these in front of his image. I then read the Jamil book. If you do not have time to read the whole text, please do read the last three chapters. Of course, I will observe sunrise tomorrow morning, keeping Jamil in mind. This is a small act that, as a Jamilian and a member of his Order, reminds me of his life on Earth and is a small gesture of honor and respect. I do this not as a matter of worship, but it may be something you may like doing, as well.

As did Christ Jesus, Jamil teaches us that universal love is the first requirement of the peacemaker. In order to love in this way, the peacemaker must follow the Way of Light. By so doing, he or she partakes of great spiritual blessings and benefits that are bestowed and extended by God through the Sun of Righteousness and its manifold aspects. If we reflect love and peace on the human level, then we can begin reflecting love and peace on the divine level. By so doing, we benefit by that loving and the reciprocation of that love, for indeed love is the food of the Soul that enables us to live the life of righteousness and goodness. The righteous and good are wise in the Way of God.

We here at the Community Center in Nevada will be observing the sunrise vigil from Saturday, February 2 through Wednesday, February 6. Next year, the sunrise vigil will be increased from five to eight days, beginning on the morning of the 30th of January and culminating on the 6th of February. In addition, a brand new Remembrance of The Child Service will be initiated on the evening of Wednesday, January 29, 2020 in the Chapel of the Holy Child.

I hope you will join me and others in the Sun at this, the most important time in the liturgical calendar of the Second Advent Church Community. I will be in touch again very soon.

Dr. Michael Clarage talks about his work with the SAFIRE project at the Electric Universe during the United Kingdom International Conference & Symposium 7th – 11th July 2018, Somerset, UK. Speaking from a more philosophical perspective – what an empiricist might ponder outside the lab – he offers some intriguing if not startling observations about the universe from the perspective of the conventional astronomy (the “dead” universe) and the biological perspective (the “living” universe).

Dr. Michael Clarage received his PhD in physics from Brandeis University in 1992, studying the biological and statistical behavior of proteins. Prior to that, he spent several years studying binary pulsars at the Arecibo radio telescope. He has given traveling lectures in the areas of fractional calculus, fractals, and chaotic systems as well as presented public talks on such topics as relativity and dimensions, transformation in supernova and metamorphosis in biology. Dr. Clarage is currently a scientist with the SAFIRE Project.

Body and Soul

“It is clear that when Plotinus speaks of the body, he is talking only about the physical body. It is also clear that he is lumping spirit and soul together and simply calling the whole thing “soul”. This simplified approach may miss some details, but is essentially correct.

“In Cosolargy, we say that humans have three “bodies”. The physical body of matter is one. The psychic body of thought and energy is the second. The spirit and divine soul make up the third.

Chicken or Egg

“Plotinus argues (successfully, I think) that the body cannot be the author or creator of the soul. The soul cannot be an offshoot of the body since an offshoot of something cannot be greater than the initial thing. Spirit and soul, being greater than the physical body, cannot therefore be created by the body.”
