A Reading from the Gospel of John 15:

I am the true vine, and my Father is the vinegrower.
He removes every branch in me that bears no fruit. Every branch that bears fruit he prunes to make it bear more fruit. You have already been cleansed by the word that I have spoken to you.
Abide in me as I abide in you.
I am the vine, you are the branches. Those who abide in me and I in them bear much fruit, because apart from me you can do nothing. . . .
My father is glorified by this, that you bear much fruit.

As the Father has loved me, so I have loved you: abide in my love.
If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commandments and abide in his love.
I have said these things to you so that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be complete. This is my commandment, that you love one another, as I have loved you.
No one has greater love than this, to lay down one’s life for his friends.
You are my friends if you do what I command you.
I do not call you servants any longer, because the servant does not know what the master is doing; but I have called you friends, because I have made known to you everything that I have heard from my Father.

If the world hates you, be aware that it hated me before it hated you.
If you belonged to the world, the world would love you as its own. Because you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world – therefore the world hates you.
Remember the word that I said unto you, ‘Servants are not greater than their master.’ If they persecuted me, they will persecute you . . . .
But when the Comforter comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who comes from the Father, he will testify on my behalf.

Into the Light

There seems to be a largely accepted belief that all souls will go directly to heaven when the physical person dies. This makes as much sense as claiming that everyone who has an account at a bank will inherit the banker’s money when he dies. If dropping dead were all it took to get to heaven ,we would have had a lot of saints and holy people committing suicide. People who accept this either have a very low opinion of what heaven is, or a strange belief that death absolves all sins and bad deeds. In order to understand what happens to souls after death, we have to know what heaven is and what souls are. Know, not speculate or simply accept some foolish teaching of a church used to placate and control the parishioners.

A Reading from the Gospel of Thomas:

     These are the secret sayings that the living Jesus spoke and Judas Thomas, the twin, his brother, recorded:

(1) And he said, Whoever discovers what these sayings mean will not taste death.

(2) …Seek and do not stop seeking until you find. When you find, you will be troubled. When you are troubled, you will marvel and rule over all; and having ruled, you will rest.

(3) …The kingdom is inside you and it is outside you. When you know yourself, then you will be known, and you will understand that you are children of the living father. But if you do not know yourselves, then you dwell in poverty and you are poverty.

(4) …A person old in days will not hesitate to ask a little child seven days old about the place of life, and the person will live. For many of the first will be last and become a single one.

A Reading from the Book of Wisdom of Solomon:

God created man for incorruption,
and made him an image of his own everlastingness;
but death entered into the world by the envy of the devil,
and those who belong to him experience it.
But the souls of the righteous are in the hand of God,
and no torment will touch them.
In the eyes of the foolish they seemed to have died.
Their departure was considered an affliction, and their travel away from us ruin;
But hey are in peace.
For even if in the sight of men they are punished,
their hope is full of immortality.
Having borne a little chastening, they will receive great good;
because God tested them, and found them worthy of himself.
He tested them like gold in the furnace,
and he accepted them as a whole burnt offering.
In the time of their visitation they will shine.
They will run back and forth like sparks among stubble.
They will judge nations and have dominion over peoples.

Holes in space and time?

Consensus astronomers believe that gamma-rays, X-rays and radio waves are created by gravity and acceleration in space. Dusty clouds of hydrogen gas are supposed to reach temperatures in the millions of Kelvin, causing gas and dust to glow brightly and emit radiation. In that view, the most powerful radiation sources are those that achieve the greatest gravitational force.

Cygnus A is one of the first radio sources that revealed “jets and lobes” accelerating out of its nucleus. They are thought to result from material falling into a central black hole, where it is torn apart. Subatomic “debris” is then propelled out of the galactic core by some means not understood in consensus circles. It is suggested that spinning magnetic fields surround black holes, but the theory cannot be tested.

Among the many difficulties faced by mainstream astrophysicists is how magnetic fields can align and compress particle emissions into jets that maintain coherency. Radio jets from some galaxies reach out for over one million light years before they “disperse” into vast clouds of radio emitting particles, larger than their galactic sources.

Recently, the astronomical community announced their first “image of a black Hole”. Researchers from the Max-Planck-Institut für Radioastronomie (MPIfR) in Bonn, Germany, and the Institut de Radioastronomie Millimétrique (IRAM), using the The Event Horizon Telescope (EHT) captured what they believe is an image of a black hole. What is that visual evidence?

“When we say that people should lead pure, sacred and wise lives, we have in mind that they should tap the appropriate energies of the Sun. The more inspired the person, the greater the capacity to make contact with the Spiritual energies of the Sun.

“The most luminous thought, the most sublime feeling and the most beautiful action have the first ray of the Sun within themselves, the first ray which penetrates the human soul.

“If, in the rising of the Sun, in the blossoming of the flowers, in the flowing of the river, in the relations between people, we see the presence of God, then that is the correct look.

Sacred Lives

Douno says that a sacred life is all about taping into “the appropriate energies of the Sun”. I emphasized “appropriate,” because simply looking at the sun isn’t enough. Many are practicing some form of sun gazing these days, but it is mostly just gazing at the material sun for physical benefits. Douno rightly emphasizes that what we need to tap into is the light of the Spiritual Sun. At least if spiritual growth is our goal.
