Bishop Savoy Delivers VOA Invocation

Gene Savoy Jr. giving the invocation at the VOA “Shelter from the Storm Breakfast” beside Nasya Mancini, Miss Nevada 2019.

The “Shelter from the Storm Breakfast” sponsored by Volunteers of Americas was held Thursday, November 14, 2019 at the Eldorado Hotel Casino Convention Center. Bishop Gene Savoy Jr. Delivered the invocation for the event.

This was the 8th Annual “Shelter from the Storm” Breakfast. The event is a fundraiser for Volunteers of America – Northern California and Northern Nevada (VOA-NCNN). Founded in 1911, VOA-NCNN provides shelter to over 1000 men, women, and children each night in Reno. The local chapter not only provides direct support to those in need through shelter, sustenance, and other integral services, it also collaborates on crucial partnerships.

In addition to the Men’s Shelter, the Women’s Shelter and the Family Shelter on Record Street, VOA-NCNN has created The Village on Sage Street, a new and innovative low-income housing development helping to alleviate Reno’s increasing housing crisis. VOA-NCNN also collaborates with the City of Reno on the very successful Reno Works, workforce development program that provides participants financial literacy and job training, employment counseling and referrals, and life skill coaching in order to sustain self-sufficiency. Finally, VOA-NCNN also runs Sierra Manor I and Sierra Manor II, an affordable housing property for seniors. There are 187 units for people 62 and older.

Bishop Savoy has served on VOA-NCNN’s Advisory Board since 2012. He gave the invocation at this year’s breakfast. Gene also serves as a table captain at the annual event with the responsibility for filling a table of ten. This year, fifteen people attended as the Bishop’s guests, among them his wife Radheka Patel Savoy.

WEEKLY MESSAGE: November 20, 2019

HEAD OVERSEER’S WEEKLY MESSAGE

November 20, 2019

The Tenth Saying (Part 7 of our series)

“After the Man finished speaking the Fourth Mariner said: ‘You mentioned earlier that those coming to the Community are preordained to do this work. What is the meaning of preordained? Does it start at birth?

“And the Man answered saying: ‘All human beings have two natures, one of Light and the other of Darkness. Either the Light principal or the Dark principal is dominant. The majority of humans are under the influence of Darkness and thus of the Earth. But when the Logos or Word of God incarnates within the Light nature of a human being, the soul is born through a spiritual conception. And that human being is immortal and never suffers death in the ordinary sense because their soul, once conceived, never dies. If a human being aspires to the Light and becomes immortal, then they existed before their coming into the material world. With their spiritual birth they become the chosen of God, the preordained. This is a difficult concept to understand by the rational mind. We each must accept the idea that once a person experiences spiritual birth, the newly-born soul overcomes the limitations of time as we know it on Earth, and that person becomes conscious of having existed before earthly life. Once born, the soul becomes co-eternal with God. Thus the preordained are those who existed with God from the beginning. Once a person has been reborn, they then must withdraw from the ways of the world and live in Community with other immortals of Light. For the Community of Light on Earth is a model of the Community in heaven. It is only people of Darkness – those who have not been illuminated by God’s Word – who desire to live in the world. Not all people wish to follow the ways of Light. They prefer the world and the Darkness of the soul. This is why people of ancient times rejected the teachings of Jesus. They could not understand him so they put him away. One cannot say that the people who rejected the teachings of Jesus, or those who had him judicially murdered were illuminated people of Light. They were of the world and under the influence of Darkness. They were by no means immortal. They suffered death and passed away from the memory of Man. Some people believe that death is only transitory, that all human beings are God, a concept particularly believed among people of oriental religions. This is not a valid concept. If it were, there would be no need for inspired people of God to come into the world revealing high religion.

“‘Think about the concept of the preordained. If you are immortal then you have always been, and always will be. You are co-eternal with God. God’s Word, the Logos, has incarnated within your being. You have been accepted by God, and exist with Him. Such beings as these will build this religion. Our task is to go into the world to gather the wheat from the tares. If we consume our energies by teaching people of the world or of Darkness they will laugh and mock us, and perhaps kill us. Therefore, there are divisions among people as there are divisions among nations. As there is spirit there is matter. As there is Light there is Darkness. People of Light, like Jesus, and Jamil, and other holy teachers, descend into the world of matter and Darkness from the lofty abodes of Light in order to illuminate people of Light who would ascend to heaven. The descent has always been by free choice – that is, people of Light are here because they wish to redeem their fallen comrades from the Earth. I would not question that you all are the preordained who have chosen to come here because of your love of mankind.’

“And the Fourth Mariner asked another question: ‘Then “preordained” could be defined as pre-existent or pre-selected for a certain mission, which the individual can choose, or not choose, as they exercise their free will prior to earthly life?’ And The Man answered the question saying, ‘If a person comes into the Teachings, and receives his or her baptism of fire, it is as if that person had been asleep. Once awakened by the Sun, they have remembrances that they were once beings of Light who pre-existed the world. Again, it is as if they had been awakened to true reality and, once awakened, are freed from the hold of the material world. But once freed, they must unite in Community or be purged in a world that is dominated by Darkness. As their beings are illuminated by the Sun of Righteousness, they turn to it for survival and not to the world. I admit it is difficult to grasp the meaning of this teaching. We have been taught to believe there is a beginning, a middle and an end; that we are born, live and die. It is hard to understand that the preordained have always been and always will be. Even more difficult to accept is that some human beings are not pre-existent. Regardless of this, Man holds the power to recreate itself through the Messianic Sun as given by God. Since Man is created in the Image of God, he shares in the power to recreate himself. On the material level this power is demonstrated through procreation of children. On the spiritual level it is demonstrated through spiritual procreation.

“‘Man is co-creator with his Creator, but being one step removed from God and the Worlds of Light, when Man generates children, they are not as beings of Light, but as mortals. God has sent His Word into the world through the Light to call people back to their true nature and original state. Thus Man can be created by God a second time. But Man can reject the second birth by his own free will and by so doing denies his true nature and preexistence.’”

Once again, if I may be of any personal service to you, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Very truly yours in Light+,

Gene

2019 Japan Trip and Global Training Seminar: An Interview with Bishop Savoy

In May 2019 Bishop Gene Savoy Jr. and Reno Community members Noriko and Robert Roy traveled to Japan to visit members of the staff at the Community Center in Kurume, Fukuoka and Bishop Yukinori Matsushita at his Tokyo office. In September a follow-up training seminar was held at the Center in Reno, Nevada. The seminar grew from being for Japan Community members only to a global training seminar. This interview tells how it happened.

Communique Editor: What prompted the May trip to Japan initially? Why did you go at this time?

Gene: Well, the regular schedule is to go every two years. A small group from Reno generally goes every other May. This trip was already planned. Yuki and I talked about it while he was here in Reno during the 2018 Convocation. It was just time for me to go again.

Communique Editor: What was different about the trip this year compared to previous years?

Gene: Well, Noriko, as our intermediary between us here in the United States and the Community in Japan, started finding out there were some organizational problems people were having in Japan, and it was based on her concern that the trip turned into something like a reorganizing visit to delve into what their procedures were. And for me to help with this, it was necessary for me to meet with each member of the core group individually, one on one, to get a better understanding of who they are and what their talents are.

Communique Editor: What became the real purpose of the trip? What was the theme of the presentations you delivered?

Gene: Well, the trip followed a scheduled agenda during the first week when we were at the Center in Kurume, Fukuoka. The main two components, basically, were, first, my one-on-one interviews with every single one of the core group (Keiko Inoue, Eriko Ueno, Shoko Ohba, Yaeno Sanada, Miyuki Okayama, Koshu Kawahara) plus a select number of other people (Junko Yamamori, Yukako Kawaii, and Hiroko Soejima). Then, second, was the workshop, which was going through all of the materials that I took with me that dealt with the inquiry and enrollment process. And we had a General conversation about precepting. The final thing was another set of private meetings with the group in Tokyo.

Communique Editor: Because you did these presentations, and all of this extensive activity, how did that affect the attendance for our convocation in September?

Gene: Oh, I think it increased the number of people coming because of the promise of an operations seminar. The trip to Japan was phase one. Phase two was the training, the actual training, in September, and then, possibly, a followup trip sometime within the next six months after September. So it may be that some of us will be going back again in the Spring.

Communique Editor: What was the focus of the seminar?

Gene: Having a seminar to actually train people to do what we do here at the Center in Reno is, I think, very significant. We have never before authorized preceptors outside of the Reno Center. We’ve got recorded, on video and in transcripts, all of the components from handling inquiries to precepting students. So we now have a template of how we do these things.

Communique Editor: And so what are the expectations after the training that will be given during the Convocation this year?

Gene: That the staff at the Center in Kurume will basically run Cosolargy International in Japan the way we run things here in Reno, the way we use our systems and procedures, for the most part. It also became very clear that because they do no precepting, they lose a lot of students at a pretty rapid rate. That affects finances, which means that they struggle, and the core people are putting extra money in to keep things afloat.

Communique Editor: Any other developments you are looking forward to?

Gene: The September training seminar during Convocation was originally planned to be just for our Japanese staff members. But we had Paul Young from Australia, and Humberto Garcia from Mexico, and Shawn Smith from Africa who took part in the seminar. They will each be acting as some of our representatives around the world. So it has really become a much grander concept, I think. Truly international. This operations seminar is a new thing. We have never done this before, and it grew out of the trip to Japan, and has now expanded into something different again. It could be the beginning of future training seminars.

Communique Editor: That sounds great. Has anything like this ever been done before?

Gene: The training seminar was the first of its kind in our history. It originated with the trip to Japan. It was going to be just for Japanese, but the idea for the Convocation, in my mind, just expanded. This is the largest convocation we have had, I would say, in a couple of decades. So the training seminar grew from just focusing on the community in Japan to include also Mexico, Australia, and Africa.

Communique Editor: Who took part in the training seminar?

Gene: We have had an established center in Japan for ten years, and that is where the majority of the attendees came from. We are also preparing to create a center that will be in Mexico in the near future. And so we also had in attendance Humberto Garcia, a recently retired professor of physics who has been translating the Academy materials into Spanish over the past couple of years. He hopes to relocate there to our property in Southern Baja within the year. The idea is eventually to have him living on the property in Baja. We did something very similar when we acquired the Sanctuary property. We’ve bought all of this property, and now we have to assign somebody to be there to put down roots. Paul Young is now our official representative of Cosolargy in Australia. And he too was present for training. So was Shawn Smith from Cameroon, Africa.

Communique Editor: How are Community members reacting to this special training seminar? Are they excited?

Gene: I am not even sure that many of the Community members here in the Reno saw this seminar as being significant. They’re not in the meetings where people are struggling in Japan. The Community members in Japan are going through the same thing that we are: How to retain students? How do we better interact with them? How do we answer their questions as they go through the changes that people go through as they apply the System?

Communique Editor: Also, a lot of the people in Reno expected that we would be starting churches. That was the original plan, and now it looks like it is going to be centers of a different kind, not outright churches.

Gene: At least for now. Who knows how those things will work in the future, and even how the Community in Japan is expanding. Because now there is a group in Tokyo.

November 16, 2019: Chapel Readings

Each week of the liturgical year, a reading from Second Advent Scripture is delivered as part of the Saturday Communion of Fellowship Service held in the Chapel of the Holy Child. This reading follows the Sacred Calendar of the Church; that is, Prophecies and Revelations that have been received by The Church on sacred dates are recalled in a liturgical context during the appropriate season each year. This reading is delivered just before the final blessings. Each service also includes a reading from the ancient scriptures, prayers, or wisdom sayings of various world religions past and present and is usually thematically related to the Second Advent Reading. This reading is delivered by the Reader right after the announcements that begin the service and is thus the first reading of the service. An audio recording of the reading from Second Advent Scripture delivered on the date above is provided here below together with a transcript of the first reading of the service that day.

SECOND ADVENT PROPHECY AND REVELATION

A Reading from Second Prophecy to the Americas, Chapter 32: “On the Error of the Old Churches” (pp. 219-222).

ANCIENT SCRIPTURE AND WISDOM SAYINGS

A Reading from the Poimandres of Hermes Trismegistus:

Holy art Thou, O God, the universals’ Father.
Holy art Thou, O God, whose Will perfects itself by means of its own Powers.
Holy art Thou, O God, who willeth to be known and art known by Thine own.
Holy art Thou, who didst by Thy Logos make to consist the things that are.
Holy art Thou, of whom All-nature hath been made an image.
Holy art Thou, whose Form Nature hath never made.
Holy art Thou, more powerful than all power.
Holy art Thou, transcending all pre-eminence.
Holy Thou art, Thou better than all praise.
Accept my reason’s offerings pure, from soul and heart forever stretched up to Thee, O Thou unutterable, unspeakable, Whose Name naught but the Silence can express.
Give ear to me who pray that I may never of Gnosis fail, [Gnosis] which is our common being’s nature; and fill me with Thy Power, and with this Grace [of Thine], that I may give the Light to those in ignorance of the Race, my Brethren, and Thy Sons.
For this cause I believe, and I bear witness; I go to Life and Light. Blessed art Thou, O Father. Thy Man would holy be as Thou art holy, even as Thou gave him Thy full authority [to be].

“The Light Body – Real, or Merely Poetic?”

I believe that to survive into the future, humans will have to activate their light bodies in the fifth dimensional state – having form and substance, but beyond flesh-and-blood bodies like present-day humans. Many traditions speak of humankind’s ‘fall’ and it seems that the hybrid offspring of otherworldly visitors somehow became trapped in physical form. If the DNA of those distant ancestors is still driving us, it may be the destiny of humanity to return to this higher state of being.

Sound far-fetched? The authors James Redfield, Michael Murphy and Sylvia Timbers, in their book God and the Evolving Universe, suggested that such a state of existence is a “dimension in the chain of human evolution,” stating, “In short, we propose that our emergent capacities, which alter our physical functioning to some degree whenever they make their appearance, can gradually give rise to a new and more luminous embodiment.”

“Healing Music for Body, Mind, and Soul”

It is highly probable that the Greek initiates gained their knowledge of the philosophic and therapeutic aspects of music from the Egyptians, who in turn, considered Hermes the founder of the art According to one legend, this god constructed the first lyre by stretching strings across the concavity of a turtle shell. Both Isis and Osiris were patrons of music and poetry. Plato, in describing the antiquity of these arts among the Egyptians, declared that songs and poetry had existed in Egypt for at least ten thousand years and that these were of such an exalted and inspiring nature that only gods or godlike men could have composed them. In the Mysteries the lyre was regarded as the secret symbol of the human constitution, the body of the instrument representing the physical form, the strings the nerves, and the musician the spirit.” ~Manly P. Hall

Healing Music

The idea that music has healing powers is not new. Ancient shaman played drums and chanted to heal. The Australian Aborigines used the didgeridoo more for healing than for music. In modern times, the art of using sound for healing has become a science. Scientific methods have been used to find specific sounds and frequencies that heal certain illnesses or body parts.

We all know that certain types of music can be soothing. Other types can excite and make you happy. Still others can make you sad. Our mother’s singing or playing lullabies to us as babies is generally our fist introduction to this. Some farmers play music in their fields to produce better crops. And when I toured a small Tequila distillery in Mexico a few years ago, I learned that they played classical music to the bins of aging tequila. They said it produced a smoother, more mellow product.

Hot Springs Connection Conference Attended

The 2019 Hot Springs Connection Conference, held November 4th – 8th at Indian Wells and Desert Hot Springs, California in the Greater Palm Springs area, was attended by Gene Savoy Jr. and Radheka Patel Savoy.

This was the 2nd annual conference of the Hot Springs Connection, a collaboration to unify the hot springs industry in the United States and abroad. Attending were 125 owners and operators of hot springs, primarily in the United States. Also represented were hot springs from Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. Gene and Radheka attended on behalf of Steamboat Hot Springs Healing Center and Spa.

The Hot Springs Connection is receiving world-wide recognition to unite geothermal soaking facilities on a global level. During the week, like-minded industry professionals discussed and shared ideas on balancing environmental, social, cultural and economic aspects for successful hot springs management. Some of the topics discussed and addressed at the conference were: historic/heritage preservation; water stewardship; natural resource protection; wellness trends; product customization; efficient operations; regulatory requirements; utilizing geothermal energy; new design standards; tourism marketing; and hospitality training.

Also introduced and launched at the conference was a new Hot Springs Association, a trade association of hot springs owners and operators. The purpose of the Association is to bring together owners and operators to collaborate and cooperate with each other in order to promote the hot springs industry to the public, to share information and ideas, to influence policy, to share new technology, and to work together to represent the diverse hot springs of North America. In addition to the Association, a separate Hot Springs of America website was announced and launched. It is the only site that lists and maps every hot spring in the United States. Steamboat will be joining the Association and will be listed on the Hot Springs of America website.

Take a look at the excellent story and photos that the City of Desert Hot Springs posted on their website!
