“Visible Substance and Invisible Spirit”

 

 

“There is a visible substance and an invisible one; a tangible water and one that is beyond the reach of perception by the physical senses; a visible fire and an invisible magic fire; neither can either of these accomplish anything without the other, for in the practice of Alchemy, as in the regeneration of man, that which is above must be made to penetrate that which is below, so that the lower may enter into a higher state of existence.

“If we wish to know nature we must learn to know God, and God cannot be known without a knowledge of one’s own divine self. The spiritual substance of which external visible nature is an imperfect expression and manifestation, has been called ‘Prima Materia‘; it is the material for the formation of a new heaven and a new earth. It is like ‘water,’ or a ‘crystaline ocean,’ if compared with our grossly material earth, it is at once fire, water, air, and earth, corporeal in its essence, and nevertheless, incorporeal relatively to our physical forms.” ~Franz Hartmann

Visible Substance, Tangible Water

What Hartmann is describing here is what we simply call matter. liquids, gas, and solids, they are all forms of matter. When the ancients said that everything was made of air, water, fire, and earth, they were saying the same thing. Air equates to gasses, fire to energy, earth to solids, and water to liquids. Fire or energy is different as it is not considered to be matter, yet it is closely related as we know that some forms of matter can be converted into energy, and some energy can be made into matter.

Visible Substance, Invisible Spirit

Hartmann says that there is an invisible substance as well as the visible, and the same for water, fire, and so on. What he is saying here is that for everything physical, there is a spiritual counterpart. For every rock, there is a spiritual rock, for every tree, there is a spiritual tree, for every star, there is a spiritual one. The simple fact that a thing exists in physical form means it has a spiritual counterpart, it cannot exist without it. You can think of the spirit as being the mold for the physical, the force that holds it all together. And the spirit is immortal, while the physical form is not. Matter may not be destructible, but the individual forms are.

When asking, “what are stars?”, the question might seem self-evident, since they are almost always described as intensely bright, burning balls of hydrogen gas.

Any particular star’s size, therefore its gravitational attraction, is what conventional astronomers say holds the planets in their orbits. Stellar fusion fire is also supposed to be the motivating force that sends energy on a million-year journey before it is emitted from its surface.

The accepted theory for how stars are born involves gravity and kinetic energy. Billions of years before any particular shining star was born, it started out as a wispy cloud a thousand times less dense than a puff of smoke. One thing that puzzles astronomers about the process is what caused the condensation of such insubstantial clouds.

High-velocity particles in orbit around some stars seem to indicate relativistic effects.

Part of what physicists are trying to understand is the observation of spectral lines from “hot iron atoms” that appear to orbit close-in to the surfaces of neutron stars. As interpreted by conventional theory, the spectra indicate that some of the material is moving at over 40 percent light-speed. Since iron atoms glow at certain optical frequencies when heated to their incandescent state, there should be dark lines within the specular distribution of the color bands. Called Fraunhofer lines, they mark places within the spectrum of any material where the emission energy is absorbed, leaving a dark line within the band of color generated by a prism.

As written recently, Fraunhofer lines are supposed to occur at specific frequencies identified in the spectrum by the kind of element that is being absorbed, if they are in a different location, then they have been Doppler-shifted because of their acceleration. This forms the backbone of galactic-scale distance calculations and the supposed speed of recession that the galaxies display.

The Fourteenth Saying (Part 4)

“‘We know that people cannot take the social or written law into their own hands to interpret privately and apply it as they will. The same holds true for God’s Law; it, too, is given for civilized order. We, as teachers, must hold to the written law and to the Teachings as we understand them for the good of The Community. We are a modern religion. Our Teachings and doctrines are revealed of God. Those who cannot understand the Teachings and doctrines are outside of God’s special blessings.

“‘God’s Law comes from on high; that is, from a higher dimension of Spirit, manifest in the sun, which orders and regulates the solar system. That is a very high power. We know that the sun does regulate life in this solar system. The Intelligence and the Will within that Light are the Consciousness and the Intelligence that set all life in motion according to cosmic law. The solar system, our galaxy, all galaxies, are governed and regulated according to the Law of God. If our Community can work in concert with the sun and within the light of the spiritual Sun, then we can create a new order of events on the physical level and transform the whole material universe into one of Light. When this is to be achieved we do not know, but we know that it is possible.

“‘There will be those whose attitude is that of the natural scientists who deny this possibility. To them, matter is matter, and Man is an animal doomed to die. There will be death and suffering as long as Man exists. Worlds and suns will die, and Man, too, will one day disappear as a species. However, if we accept the words of Jamil, the words of Christ, the words of other great Teachers of Light of times past, we can believe it is possible for this world to change to Light.

“‘People study the laws of nature, which are of interest to natural men and women. We study supernatural laws, manifest in the Light of the Messianic Sun, which are of interest to supernatural men and women. It is by our consent and use of free will that we do this, not out of fear or blind faith. The power of the atom can be traced to the sun. And the sun was created by the Consciousness of God. By working in harmony with Consciousness we, as supernatural men and women, familiarize ourselves with the power that brought the world into being. How much greater is our study!

“‘Nations have usurped the power of the atom and the sun for weapons to rule the world. We intend to use the creative power of the sun and the intelligence behind it for the good of the world and the establishment of God’s Kingdom on Earth. This means the transformation of the material world into Light. To accomplish this, Man must place his intelligence in the Hands of God; for the world cannot become transformed until Man has transcended his material nature to one of Light.’”

August 22, 2020: Chapel Readings

 

 

Each week of the liturgical year, a reading from Second Advent Scripture is delivered as part of the Saturday Communion of Fellowship Service held in the Chapel of the Holy Child. This reading follows the Sacred Calendar of the Church; that is, Prophecies and Revelations that have been received by The Church on sacred dates are recalled in a liturgical context during the appropriate season each year. This reading is delivered just before the final blessings. Each service also includes a reading from the ancient scriptures, prayers, or wisdom sayings of various world religions past and present and is usually thematically related to the Second Advent Reading. This reading is delivered by the Reader right after the announcements that begin the service and is thus the first reading of the service. An audio recording of the reading from Second Advent Scripture delivered on the date above is provided here below together with a transcript of the first reading of the service that day.

(83) Jesus said, You see images but the light within them is hidden in the image of the father’s light. He will be disclosed, but his image is hidden by his light.
(84) …When you see your likeness you are happy. But when you see your images that came into being before you and that neither die nor become visible, how much will you bear!
(85) …Adam came from great power and wealth, but he was not worthy of you. Had he been worthy, he would not have tasted death.

“Faith & Hope in the Marian Valley”

Speaking Words of Wisdom, Let It Be

 

The Byzantine-style icon in the Black Madonna Chapel is a focal point at the Marian Valley near Tamborine Mountain, in the Gold Coast Hinterland’s ‘Scenic Rim’ of South-East Queensland. Marian Valley is recognized as a sacred place and the visitor gains an impression of it being what is sometimes called a ‘thin place.’ Wandering through several acres of well-maintained gardens, one is struck by the diversity of nations to which shrines are dedicated.

I chose to visit on the 13th of the month, as I knew that each month on that date, they hold a procession from the Black Madonna Chapel down to the Grotto of Our Lady of Fatima. It’s a long walk into the Valley and they have a few of those electric carts, of the type used at airports and golf courses, for those who need assistance. Various nationalities were represented among the attendees and parts of the rosary and chanting were conducted in Maltese and Filipino (Tagalog). A couple of families who were evidently from Vietnam stopped a while at the La Vang shrine.

The phenomenon of ‘apparitions’ features repeatedly at these chapels. While the most famous historical cases are those of Fatima and Lourdes, both the reported appearances of Mary and the incidences of Black Madonnas occur worldwide. Many of these come from Africa, Eastern Europe and Asia – notably the Philippines and Japan. Events claimed as miracles often involve Mary in conjunction with the Sun, and I wrote about this in my blog last October, titled When the Sun Spins in the Sky.

“Sun as Udgitha – the Spiritual Sun”

 

 

Now the meditation (on the Udgitha) with reference to the gods is described. One should meditate on him who gives heat (i.e. the sun) as Udgitha. Verily, when he rises, he sings aloud for the sake of all creatures. When he rises, he dispels darkness and fear. Verily, he who knows the sun as being endowed with these qualities, Now the meditation (on the Udgitha) with reference to the gods is described. One should meditate on him who gives heat (i.e. the sun) as Udgitha. Verily, when he rises, he sings aloud for the sake of all creatures. When he rises, he dispels darkness and fear. Verily, he who knows the sun as being endowed with these qualities, becomes the dispeller of darkness and (the consequent) fear. … That which is Saman, even that is Udgitha. Therefore, while one neither breathes out nor breathes in, one sings the Udgitha. Therefore whatever other actions require strength, such as the kindling of fire by friction, running a race towards a goal, the bending of a strong bow, are all performed, while one neither breathes out nor breathes in. For this reason one should meditate on Vyana as Udgitha. Now, one should meditate on the syllables of ‘Udgitha’—namely, the syllables ‘ut’, ‘gi’ and ‘tha’. Prāna is ‘ut’, because through Prāna one arises (ut-tisthati). Speech is ‘gi’, because speech is called word (girah). Food is ‘tha’, because upon food all this is established (sthitam). Heaven is ut, the sky is gi, the earth is tha. The sun is ut, the air gi, the fire, tha. … For him, speech yields the milk which is the benefit of speech. And he becomes rich in food; and an eater of food, who knows thus and meditates on the syllables of ‘Udgitha’, namely, ut, gi and tha.” ~Chandogya Upanishad

Him Who Gives Heat

The sun is the one that gives us heat, but it does much more than that. It gives heat, light, and other frequencies of radiation that make it possible for life of various kinds to exist on Earth. On another level not yet recognized by science, the sun acts as a reflector and controller using our thoughts. The thoughts and emotions we transmit hit the sun, are amplified, and reflected back to us. So if those thoughts are mostly violent, we end up with a violent world. If they are mostly fearful, we end up with a world of fear and suspicions. But if we change our thoughts, and send out mostly love and trust, that is the world we will have. And all that is just from the physical sun.

Beyond the physical sun, there is the Spiritual Sun. This is the sun that is important to spiritual people and spiritual teachers. It is this spiritual sun that is being called Udgitha in this Upanishad. This sun doesn’t heat the Earth, it heats the spirits and souls of Man and all life forms on Earth. It is this sun that awakens the soul from the deep, coma-like sleep that it is in when we are born on the material plane of existence.

And The Man continued his discourse. (Please bear in mind that this discourse was delivered on the second Ship of Light in 1978, some 42 years ago.)

“‘To some degree, our own Community at the present time is “closed.” We have doctrines, liturgy, teachings, codes of conduct, scripture and other materials. The initiate to the ministry must subscribe to our teachings because of the need for order. But we must always remember that our Community is also “open.” It will evolve of its own accord as The Community grows with increasing membership. Now we are known as the Community of Christ, but one day we will have many affiliates under the names of Community of Buddhism, Community of Islam, Community of Brahmanism and so on. Each Community will be teaching the same, identical System which we now call Cosolargy; but they need not break from their respective faiths. This universal System of Communities will evolve in time to a single Religion of Light. Religion will then develop into a meaningful way of life.

“‘The Teaching will evolve into The Way, which is to say, the Life of Light. Natural Man cannot possibly evolve to this level of understanding; it can only be achieved by supernatural Man becoming truly illuminated. When this day comes, every person will exemplify the life of Christ as demonstrated by Jesus and by Jamil. But let me caution you that for the present this is only theory; for theory to become practice will require great evolvement. By its very nature, evolvement requires growth and change in progressive stages.

“‘And as we, as teachers, evolve with greater understanding, it stands to reason that The Community will evolve in a way we cannot now imagine. And this is as it should be. The Community will grow with the membership. At some distant date in the future our doctrines will be lived, and not simply studied from books. [Emphasis added]

“‘To speak of creating a new world religion is a hard saying. While we can speak of supernatural Man as an illuminant, we must always keep uppermost in our minds that social systems are fragile products created over many centuries of evolution. They can attain heights only in relation to Man’s evolvement. For this reason, we must at this time restrict our program of teaching to those few who come to us for instruction. They must be the pre-ordained who have already been prepared to receive The Teaching from the moment of their birth into this world.

“‘As you can see from what has been said, it is imperative that the Order be very firm in its demand for total dedication; for a very special effort will be required for this Community to evolve into a meaningful new world religion. Each minister must see the reason why an orderly process of evolvement is necessary in religion, just as he or she sees the necessity for order in society which has been established for the general good of the people.’”
