HEAD OVERSEER’S WEEKLY MESSAGE

November 3, 2021

This is a wonderful segment of the Saying that talks about love – both physical and spiritual – but more importantly spiritual love – the love of God and the love from God.

The Twentieth and Twenty-first Sayings (Part 15)

“And the fifth Mariner, the seventh person to speak said, ‘Could you speak to us of physical love and spiritual love?’

“And The Man answered, ‘When we speak of physical love, we usually refer to emotional love or physical attachment or dependence which is based on the senses. That is a kind of attachment – a kind of a gratification – like eating. Spiritual love is something that is the product of a person in love with God and can be shared with another person who also loves God and radiates love. And that love is Light and that Light is Truth and Goodness. The Light and Goodness in love is a kind of food. Therefore, the love of God transmitted as Truth becoming Light is, in reality, food and nourishes the spirit. Thus the spirit can only live off Light and Love. And once a person becomes spiritual, that is, once the spiritual Light body is generated, that Light body generates Light and energy and intelligence.

“‘The physical expresses itself physically on the level of the eight force centers – from the generative force center to the psychic force center. On the spiritual level, one can only express oneself on the level of the four force centers of Consciousness, Being, Intellect, and Form. This means that a person looking at the physical sun discerns it as a physical energy source. The spiritual Sun is not perceived this way. In order to perceive the spiritual Sun, one must needs live The Way. Living The Way extends a real spiritual life to the person by permitting that person to express the spiritual attributes. A spiritual person needs to express love, truth, beauty, justice and all the other spiritual qualities that are not expressed on the human level. These qualities include Divine Wisdom, celestial Intelligence, and a spiritual Righteousness.

“‘The difference between the intellectual and emotional life is great. A person can be very intelligent but not always in control of his or her emotions. A person may be very emotional but not very intelligent. Emotion and intelligence are separate, just as the body and the spirit are separate. If one lives The Way and adheres to The System, one develops faculties that experience and perceive the special world of spirit.

“‘The emotional religion of popular Christianity is no substitute for the spiritual religion of Jesus as lived by the disciples and apostles. The traditional churches preach that we are saved by the body and blood of Jesus, which has nothing to do with the spirit at all. That is strictly a physical concept which satisfies the emotional need and dependence upon a human savior made god. It is better to live off the love of God than the blood of Jesus, but people who are emotional and not spiritual cannot understand this. One must have spiritual faculties in order to understand spiritual things. Without them all one can do is mimic Jesus’ teachings but never understand them. That is why popular Christianity has only been able to create a secondary understanding of the teachings of Christ but has never been able to live them. Jesus Christ was always opposed to blood sacrifice. That was fundamental in his teaching. How could he create a religion of sacrifice and blood in his own life?

“‘God, not Man or his governments, can redeem the world and change it to a higher and more evolutionized state or condition. By collaborating with God and by living the Truth of God’s Light in the Sun of Salvation, the people of the world will evolve to a higher state.

“‘Man and his governments do not give life nor do they sustain it. God and the cosmos do this. Thus Man and his governments must have a higher understanding of God. They need to understand the necessity for change and to accept that God is the only Power that can redeem the world. As long as Man depends upon the material powers of his world, he will suffer. So Man must trust God with all his heart and being in order to change himself and the world. He must see himself as having been made in the Image of God. That Image must be recreated and reborn by application of The Way and The System as taught.

“‘Ministers of The Community are part of a coming new spiritual Order. They belong to the future. They receive the Gift of God from the New Sun, which is a blessing that is not given to all humankind but is reserved for those people who are actually participating in the cosmos and are opposed to chaos. That is why our Church is structured.

“‘Those who deny that God is able to influence their lives, or deny the influence of the sun, put themselves outside of the Blessings of God. They do not share in the Divine Plan nor do they participate in the transformation of the world. God blesses that person who submits to Community life.

“‘When a person loves another, they find themselves loving with care. They are courteous, kind, well-mannered, clean, gracious, and usually generous. One conducts oneself on the highest level in order to assure that that love will be returned by the other person. One cannot ignore a loved one and expect love to be maintained. Love is based on consent between two persons. It is never given against one’s will. As a person loves, so is that love returned. It is the same with God. If love of God is ordered and well structured, that is, if it is within the laws of the cosmos created by God’s Will, that love is returned in kind. One cannot expect God to return a love that is disrespectful or disobedient. People find this hard to understand – they expect God to love them on their own terms.’”

Consciousness Awakened and Expanded

“The religious consciousness is awakened when we encounter a network of great contradictions running through our human life. When this consciousness comes to itself we feel as if our being were on the verge of a total collapse. We cannot regain the sense of security until we take hold of something overriding the contradictions.

“Whatever contradictions we may experience they would not trouble us unless we were philosophers, because each one of us is not supposed to be a thinker of some kind. The contradictions however in most cases assert themselves in the field of the will. When we are assailed on this side, the question is felt more acutely, like a piercing arrow. When the will to power is exposed to constant threat in one form or another, one cannot help becoming meditative about life.

“’What is the meaning of life?’ then demands not an abstract solution but comes upon one as a concrete personal challenge. We then abandon all the contradictions that appear on the plane of intellection, for we must feel in a way contented with life.” ~Daisetz T. Suzuki

Awakened Consciousness

Rather than “religious consciousness,” I think it would be more accurate to say “Spiritual Consciousness,” especially today when many people think of religion and spirituality as two different things. There are also different ideas about what a Spiritual Awakening really is. What Suziki is talking about seems to be simply the sudden awareness that things are not quite what we have been taught and what we believed to be true. That to some of us is the beginning of a Spiritual Awakening, but is not the culmination of it. True Spiritual Awakening happens when the Soul becomes conscious, and that rarely, if ever, happens overnight.

Network of Contradiction

I’m not sure we can claim that everyone begins their spiritual awakening through the discovery of a “network of great contradictions,” though that certainly is one common way that it happens. Sometimes, it happens gently and slowly, other times it happens with a great shock. I think that it was the shock kind that happened to St. Francis of Assisi when he went off to war and suddenly faced the horror of humans killing each other on a battlefield. That started the process that culminated in his true awakening while watching a sunrise from his bedroom. In my case, I think it was a combination of both. First, I had a gentle and limited awakening to the network of contradiction when I was in my teens and we moved to a new town. I found that this small town that should have had only one Catholic Church actually had two of them just a few blocks apart. I leaned that the reason for it was that a few decades earlier, when the population of the town was made up mostly of French people from either France or the French-speaking parts of Canada, and Irish people, the two groups didn’t get along with each other, so each insisted on having a church of their own. This made we question the truth of the Catholic Church as it seemed to me, even as a teenager, that a real Church that believed in the teachings of Jesus would not have given in to such prejudices. My greater awakening came nearly thirty year slater when my younger brother died. That was the shock type of awakening that made me start questioning just about everything.

The Contradictions Assert Themselves

I’m sure there are many others who lose a family member and start questioning the meaning of life, but quickly get over it and get on with life. For a few of us, the contradictions continue to assert themselves and we have to delve into them. We can’t just let them go and get back to being a robot of capitalism and materialism. If you are reading this, you are probably such a person also.

I had read some spiritual books before, and even practiced Transcendental Meditation for a time, but now I turned even more to seeking out the truth in spiritual development. Eventually, that led me to answer an ad for Cosolargy, and I soon joined that spiritual school. I am still with it more than thirty years later, so needless to say, I think it has helped me find many of the answers. It has helped not by telling me everything as most churches do, but by teaching me how to experience the spiritual on my own and learn through experience, the only way we can truly learn about the spiritual sun and learn about through experience, the only way we can truly learn about the spiritual.

WEEKLY MESSAGE: October 27, 2021

HEAD OVERSEER’S WEEKLY MESSAGE

October 27, 2021

We have three more portions before we conclude our review of the Twentieth and Twenty-first Sayings of Jamil. Today’s segment is short, but the next two will be somewhat longer than average because there is not a good way to separate the messages. So, let us continue.

The Twentieth and Twenty-first Sayings (Part 14)

“And another Mariner, the sixth person to speak, said, ‘Could you speak to us of the roles of men and women in the world today and their approach to living under physical or natural laws and spiritual or supernatural laws? How do we separate the two when we look at the sun in the prescribed manner within The System as taught by the School?’

“And The Man answered him saying, ‘The physical sun contains the regulatory forces that govern the solar system. The planet responds to the sun, is regulated and governed by the sun, and all life is dictated by that sun. The earth does not have the potential to create life – only the sun does. As the earth cannot live without the sun, the sun cannot live without its source of energy and information from a higher Sun beyond it. We use the term spiritual Sun in an allegorical sense. The spiritual Sun is only an image, and that image is Light. And that Light consists of the Word of God, which is His Truth. And the Truth is contained within the Light, and yet the Light is Truth. So when you look at the physical sun, you are looking at pure intelligence. When you look at the Image of God in the Sun of Righteousness, you are looking at pure Spirit. The spiritual cannot be conceived by the physical senses of perception, only by the spiritual. And yet, because we do not have human natures equipped with preceptory senses and reasoning mind or intelligence, we use both human and spiritual faculties to attain God.’”

And we will continue next week.

2007 Sun Gazette Interview with Gene Savoy Sr.

It recently came to the Communique editors’ attention that the Winter 2007 newsletter of the now defunct International Sun Imbibers’ Society, entitled “The Sun Gazette,” contains an interview which the newsletter’s editor conducted with Gene Savoy Sr.

We thought the interview was interesting enough that our Community members and friends would like to read it, so we are making it available to our subscribers as a PDF document.

“Pope Francis launches consultation on Church reform”

Pope Francis has launched what some describe as the most ambitious attempt at Catholic reform for 60 years.

A two-year process to consult every Catholic parish around the world on the future direction of the Church began at the Vatican this weekend.

Some Catholics hope it will lead to change on issues such as women’s ordination, married priests and same-sex relationships.

Others fear it will undermine the principles of the Church.

They say a focus on reform could also distract from issues facing the Church, such as corruption and dwindling attendance levels.

Pope Francis urged Catholics not to “remain barricaded in our certainties” but to “listen to one another” as he launched the process at Mass in St Peter’s Basilica.

Spiritual Gifts

“Spirituality is not living in dreams, or living in the clouds, or having a pale face and languid air, as if the things of the earth were beneath one’s serious consideration, and were rather endured than enjoyed. Spirituality means the greatest acuteness of intellect, the greatest foresight, the greatest amount of spirit or power gathered in a person, and the wisest expenditure of that power. It means the greatest governmental ability, be that ability exercised in the small empire of a household, or the larger empire of a nation. Spiritual gifts mean all talents, all powers, and all methods of using those powers.

“That is a spiritual gift which finds out healing properties in plants, roots, and herbs. All nature expressed in substance, seen of the physical eye, is an expression also of mind or force. … But all seen things are expressions of the lower or relatively cruder form of mind or spirit, and therefore have a limited power; and, when any material remedy is applied, the main dependence should not be on the remedy, but on the power of mind, and, above all things, one’s own mind or force to put the body above the reach of disease.” ~Prentice Mulford

Spirituality

Mulford says that spirituality is not “living in dreams,” etc. If he were living today, he would likely add to that list, playing a tambourine, meditating, or saying “Namaste” all the time. Not that there is anything wrong with doing those things, but in themselves, they do not make you spiritual. People didn’t spend years, even decades, in the great mystery schools of the past if that was all there was to do and study, but it isn’t. There is much more to real spiritual development than those simplistic approaches.

Things of the Earth

Mulford is also correct in saying that real spiritual people do not reject the things of the earth as beneath them. It may be true that St. Francis rejected his father’s wealth, but he didn’t live naked in a cave and eat bugs thereafter. Real spiritual people always put the spiritual needs before the physical, but they don’t reject the physical. As long as they have physical bodies, they know that they need to take reasonable care of them, yet without becoming attached to the physical. That is the difficult trick sometimes called “walking the razor’s edge”.

Spiritual Gifts

This is one area where I think most real spiritual leaders and teachers will disagree to some extent with Mulford. The problem seems to be that Mr. Mulford either doesn’t recognize the existence of a spirit and soul, or he thinks they are but names for part of the human mind. Both of those beliefs are incorrect. But due to this belief, he places too much importance on the mind and the intellect. So he says that “acuteness of intellect” is a spiritual gift. While a good intellect is of value to spiritual people, it is not a spiritual gift. It is the more universal form of intelligence called consciousness that is important to the spiritual person. And consciousness is not measured by an amount but by levels of consciousness. There are very low levels of consciousness in simpler beings than humans, and much higher levels of consciousness found in Light Beings or Angels. A great spiritual gift, therefore, is to achieve higher levels of Consciousness, not intellect.

Mulford goes on to say that spiritual gifts include all talents, powers, and ways of using such powers. Here I must disagree. Using our abilities for strictly material and materialistic pursuits is not at all spiritual. Such usage may be necessary while we are in physical form, but that doesn’t make them spiritual. Real spiritual gifts include such things as being able to communicate with animals, being able to predict the weather and other future events, being able to recognize when someone else is telling the truth, or not, etc. Most of all, a spiritual gift is the ability, desire, and courage to move forward on the  often difficult path of real spiritual growth. That is the gift that is truly spiritual.

The Twentieth and Twenty-first Sayings (Part 13)

“Then a physician, the fifth person to speak, a Companion of The Way, said, ‘I understand that the human nature and the spiritual nature go along together, and that human nature cannot really affect the spiritual nature – the spiritual nature is more or less constant – but what I wonder is, does human nature have freedom of choice, and the spiritual nature, being predestined, does not?”

“And The Man answered the physician, ‘It is human to err. Humans use common sense, logic, reason, and their senses of perception to measure reality. We know that reality is different among individuals, and that the senses cannot be trusted as accurate measuring rods of reality. An individual changes about every seven years. Impressions of life vary according to state of health, status in life, environment, and situation in life. Each individual’s reaction to, and evaluation of, reality varies from day to day. Though reality changes, people believe they see reality as it is.

“‘Yet, what do we know of life in other galaxies trillions of light-years out into space? We have no way of measuring reality there. When we speak of God, we are speaking about the whole vastness of creation in worlds we cannot dare imagine. Mankind is very limited by the environment, the sources of energy available, and by food grown on the planet.

“‘In The System, we are fed on the energy of the sun that streams into it from other stellar systems filled with celestial information which our brain and nervous system are only able to handle with long exposure to this energy. We have no other means of understanding life in the universe except by new energy sources, such as that of our sun. The energy and information from the spiritual Sun, which opens new horizons even beyond the limited material universe, is our sole means of understanding God. We certainly cannot attempt any understanding of God by those energy sources available on the planet. The evolution of the brain and nervous system allows us access to higher forms of energy and information, just as the development of our spiritual faculties allows us to absorb spiritual information by means of the spiritual Sun of Righteousness. This spiritual information consists of creative intelligence. And this intelligence, of which we become part, instructs us. By living The System and The Way, we, like fetuses and infants, grow and develop and train ourselves to comprehend greater things of God. How does one explain something like this concerning freedom of choice to a person who is only interested in making money or seeking earthly pleasures? One cannot. For a person to understand the implications of this matter in question requires higher insight.’”

First of a special four-episode arc to explore certain unique aspects of the Polar Configuration. Beginning with ‘As Above, So Below’—the well-known phrase of legend and myth—this episode analyzes the planetary origins of the king and the bizarre rituals of kingship.

To achieve a fact-based history of our solar system, comparative mythologist Ev Cochrane finds it necessary to forsake the scriptures of modern science, while paying careful heed to the testimony of the ancients.
