WEEKLY MESSAGE: March 16, 2022

HEAD OVERSEER’S WEEKLY MESSAGE

Wednesday, March 16, 2022
Birth of The Child, Jamil (1959)

As we remember the birth of The Wondrous Child of Light, Jamil, 63 years ago, it is fitting that we read his Sayings. And we continue.

The Twenty-second Saying (Part 6)

“Then the second disciple to speak presented another question. ‘Does the “point” where spirit and matter are connected represent the archetype?’ The Man answered saying, ‘There must always be an intermediary. In other words, between the Light Angel and Man as a Dark Angel – between his spiritual Consciousness or Soul and the physical man – is the archetype, that is, archetypal Man, the first Man, the first great Being that was neither spirit nor matter. And we originated from this archetype. We did not originate ourselves from spirit. Our father is not necessarily Adam, nor is Eve our mother. Our mother and father – our parent – is really the Dark Angel that evolved, or descended, or fell into matter.

“‘As one goes into the sun, within the manifestation of light there is a “center” wherein manifests an issuance from another dimension, which is the source of the Sun of Righteousness, not of the physical universe. The material sun is not the Sun of Righteousness. The Spiritual Sun, or the Sun of Righteousness, is a spiritual Power. One goes through the physical sun on the mental and physical level, and on the psychic level one goes through even greater suns because all light from the sun is linked to a parent sun or to a greater sun, or a series of suns. And as the psychic or Kalos nature evolves, it then returns to the spirit. And one sees the True Light of God and The Image and hears The Word. Thus, there is a process by which one returns to the Original State.’”

I encourage you to light a candle today. Thank you.

Again, if I may be of any personal service to you, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Very truly yours in Light+,

Gene

“Pray with a Clean Mind and Soul”

“When Man will enter with repentance and with his prayers turn to God, he should, before he begins to pray, seriously consider the fate of his own Soul. How is it wholly and altogether turned away from God, become faithless to Him, and only bent upon this temporary, frail, and earthly life; bearing no sincere Love towards God and his neighbors, lusting and walking contrary to the commandments of God, and seeking itself only, in the temporal and transitory lusts of the flesh?

“In the next place, he should consider that all this is an utter enmity against God, which Satan hath raised and wrought in him, by his deceit in our first parents; for which abomination’s sake we must suffer death, and undergo corruption with our bodies.

“He should consider the three horrible chains wherewith our Souls are bound during the time of our earthly life. The first is the anger of God, the Abyss, and Dark world, which is the center, root, or principle of the Soul’s life. The second is the desire of the Devil against the Soul, whereby he tempts it, and without intermission strives to throw it from the Truth of God into his own evil Nature, viz. into pride, covetousness, envy, and anger; and with his desire, blows up and kindles those evil properties in the Soul, whereby it turns away from God, and enters into Self.”  ~Jacob Boehme

When We Pray

Many believe that if we pray to God, God listens to our prayers no matter what. Boehme is telling us, and rightfully so, that such is not the case. If we spend most of our life doing things that violate the Laws of God, and further the goals of Satan (or the Dark Forces, if you prefer), God isn’t listening to our prayers. It is like the sacrifice of Cain, where the smoke curled down to the ground instead of rising you toward Heaven (not that God wants burnt offerings anyway, but that is another tale for another day). We need to prepare ourselves to pray to God by doing the best we can to obey God’s Law and follow the Way of God and Light. We won’t always succeed, but we must do our best if we expect God to listen to us and help us.

Fate of His Soul

I think Boehme has it wrong here. It is not the soul that has turned from God, but the mind—which is definitely not the same thing. The Soul, in most cases, has remained in the dormant state it was in when that person was born into the material world with a material body. The mind is easily tempted by the “temporary, frail, and earthly” pleasures, not the Soul. The Soul, once awakened, seeks only God, good, Truth, and Light. That is why awakening the soul is so important for the spiritual adept.

Enmity Against God

Enmity is defined as hatred, ill-will, or strong dislike. It is not likely that a person who feels enmity toward God would be praying to Him at all. I think Boehm may be exaggerating to make a point. What he really means is that if we don’t truly believe in God, don’t truly love God, and don’t truly want God to take over and reform the fallen realm of matter into a peaceful and loving place of spirit, then our prayers are not likely to be answered. It is hard to say for sure, though, because God may see the potential in the person before it clearly manifests.

Souls Are Bound

First and foremost, God has no anger toward us regarding the Great Fall from Heaven to earth. He feels sorrow for us, pity perhaps, but not anger. Anger is for the false god, the Demiurge who created the realm of matter.

It is also not accurate to refer to this realm of matter as the abyss. This is the third dimension of reality. The Abyss is the first and lowest. In it, nothing can live, nothing can exist, so the Soul cannot be there, but it can fear that we will fall in that direction if we don’t turn to God, and the Soul wants us to turn to God more than anything else.

The Devil’s Temptations

The Devil does tempt us with the temporary pleasures of the world. Wealth, comfort, fine food, a new car, and so on. In the past, many believed that we had to give up all earthly pleasures and live in total poverty to follow the Way of God. Fortunately, that is not true. We can enjoy the comforts of the world, within reason, as long as we don’t get attached to those things. That is the danger. When we become too attached to worldly things, we stop growing spiritually. So we need to walk that razor’s edge with care and concern.

WEEKLY MESSAGE: March 9, 2022

HEAD OVERSEER’S WEEKLY MESSAGE

March 9, 2022

The Twenty-second Saying (Part 6)

“And another Companion of The Way addressed his Teacher asking, ‘As I understand the Sayings and your explanation, the vital human essence, the élan vital or pneuma, becomes personalized and objectified in the person as a union with God through the Sun of Righteousness is made, so that Image then becomes the Image of the Son of God, and then it is the reflection – not I, but Thou with me – that does these things. Is that correct?’

“And The Man replied, ‘Let us use the allegorical Garden of Eden as an example. Man and woman were created in the Image of God. They had a spiritual Body that lived off the Love, Light, Truth, Goodness, Mercy, Justice, and Righteousness of God. That was all the food required by their Soul or Light spirit. They were Angels of Light. God’s Presence was sufficient to give them birth and to sustain them. Man and woman then were tempted by the Devil, the representative of the Powers of Darkness, which, again, is an allegorical story. We might ask ourselves, “Where did the Devil come from? Is he equal to God? Where did God come from? Who created Him?” We could go on with such endless philosophical, metaphysical questions, but they are not important because this is an allegory.

“‘When man and woman were tempted and they began to eat from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil instead of from the Tree of Life, they fell out of step with God. In other words, to use a familiar analogy, it was as if their frequency was changed, the band on their radio frequency range was changed and they lost the station. Consequently, they could no longer hear the Word nor receive the Nourishment from God. And they were then forced, if we recall from the apocryphal New Testament writings, to drink water which made them nauseous. Thus, they became dependent upon substance outside of God, and God removed Himself from Adam and Eve in their original state. As a consequence, by eating food, man and woman became like the food and, having eaten that food, died. Life became a state in which food gave life and took life. Of course, we can ask the question, “Where did the food come from?” Again, it is all an allegory. There is a great truth locked up in the story of the Garden of Eden, an ancient story that antedated the Hebrew writings under Moses.

“‘To review, we have a pre-existent condition in which man and woman were spirit living off the Presence of God. Then God withdrew Himself, and man and woman lived off food and degenerated into material creatures, as did their descendants. However, they still had the potential of the spirit, because the spirit is what gives life. The body does not give life of itself. As material beings, man and woman are Images of the great spiritual Soul, and all living things of the world are images of man and woman. It is not the other way around, even though it appears that way.

“‘Once God had withdrawn Himself, God promised to reveal Himself a second time. Now God is revealing Himself a second time. And, in having revealed Himself, manifests the Image of Himself – not His True Self but an Image – which is the Sun of Righteousness filled with His Word; and that Image becomes the intercessor, the mediator, between man and woman and God. The First-Born Son of God into the world was the Sun of Righteousness.

“‘There are other Creation stories that go further back than the story of the Garden of Eden which tell of Man being created as Light – all Light – which was the Sun of Righteousness. But out of the Sun of Righteousness came a multitude of images. And then, out of these images came forth other images, like our physical sun, for example, without which life could not exist on this planet, even for a fraction of a second. Therefore, all life on the planet is an image of the sun. And just as that sun is an image of greater suns, and these greater suns are images of other greater suns and galaxies and so forth, eventually there is a median point – a “point” at the borderline where spirit and matter are connected, where an Image begins to take place in the physical dimension.’”

The Latimer School at 643 Ralston Street / Reno, Nevada

In 1948 Charles F. Cutts, a long-time member of the Latimer Art Club and a founding trustee of the Nevada Art Gallery, willed his house and estate to the Nevada Art Gallery. The Art Gallery received Cutt’s home at 643 Ralston Street in Reno, Nevada in 1949 upon his death.

643 Ralston Street is the address of the offices of the International Community of Christ and Cosolargy International and the Chapel of The Holy Child. This property was acquired by the Church from the Nevada Art Gallery in 1979, including the expansion that served as the gallery itself, and in 1981 Church members constructed the Chapel in place of the gallery.

The story of the building that houses our offices is part of the book The Latimer School: Lorenzo Latimer and the Latimer Art Club. We have excerpted the pertinent pages of the book (pp. 29-44) and are making them available to our members with permission form the publisher. The pages provide an interesting backstory to the building that has housed our offices for over forty years.

Latimer School.Building.643Ralston.Excerpt

The Nevada Museum of Art, on its 90th anniversary, has organized an exhibition that brings together landscape paintings by the watercolor painter Lorenzo Latimer, alongside those of the artists he mentored, including Mattie S. Conner, Marguerite Erwin, Dora Groesbeck, Hildegard Herz, Nettie McDonald, Minerva Pierce, Echo Mapes Robinson, Nevada Wilson, and Dolores Samuel Young. These artists joined together to formally found the Latimer Art Club in 1921. The Latimer Art Club is still active and celebrates its 100th anniversary in 2021. The exhibit is being presented July 31, 2021 – March 27, 2022.

The Latimer Art Club was the founding volunteer organization of the Nevada Art Gallery, which is known today as the Nevada Museum of Art. The San Francisco-based painter Lorenzo Latimer first visited Fallen Leaf Lake on the south side of Lake Tahoe in summer 1914. It was there that he began to teach annual plein air painting classes. In 1916, he was invited by two students to teach a painting class in Reno. He returned for the next twenty years and became a cherished member of the Northern Nevada arts community.

The watercolor paintings by Latimer and his students of the Truckee Meadows, Washoe Valley, Lake Tahoe, and Pyramid Lake are foundational to the history of Northern Nevada’s outdoor painting tradition. By 1931, the Latimer Club joined together with the visionary humanist scholar and scientist Dr. James Church to establish the Nevada Art Gallery, now the Nevada Museum of Art. The founding group planned art exhibitions and interdisciplinary public programs for the nascent museum for many years.

The exhibition is co-curated by Nevada art specialist Jack Bacon and Ann M. Wolfe, Andrea and John C. Deane Family Senior Curator and Deputy Director. The exhibition will be accompanied by a major book with an introduction by Wolfe and an essay by Alfred C. Harrison, a nineteenth-century painting scholar and art historian with a special emphasis on California art.

My Soul Yearned for Life

“The soul in me yearned for life. Knowledge blossomed in my eyes. The soul in me yearned for life. I floated and wandered up till I reached the first planet. Her slaves came to meet me. ‘Seize him, seize that man. He will keep us company. Seize him, seize that man, and ask where he is from.’ ‘Friend, where are you from and where are you going?’ ‘I come from earth, the Tibil, the house the planets built. The soul in me yearned for life and aimed for the place of life.’ ‘This is the house of life. This is the way! Where are you going?’ When you go among enemies they will perform anything imaginable against you. ‘That is not what I desire and not what my soul wants.’ The soul in me yearned for life. Knowledge blossomed in my eyes. The soul in me yearned for life. I floated and wandered up till I reached the second planet, and the third and the fourth. When you go among them, they will shout the name of death, and chain and torment you. I floated and wandered up the fifth, sixth, and seventh planets till I reach the house of life. When I reach the house of life, life came out to meet me. Life came out to meet me “and dressed me in radiance and covered me with light. He counted me, gave me his number. The good came out of his midst. Among the lamps of light your lamps will float and shine. Soul, if you hear what I say and do not oppose my word, for you I will throw a bridge over the great sea. For you I will lay a dam and guide you to the watchtower where the rebels hold out. I will guide you past the fire and smoke touching the sky. I will take you past the double pits where Ruha has dug her way. And over that high mountain I will smooth the path for you. In this wall, this wall of iron, I will hack a breach for you, hug you with all my strength, and take you to the place of light.” ~Soul Songs

The Soul In Me

Most of us think of our soul as being inside us. It is a natural thing to do. It is not entirely accurate, though, since the soul is spirit, and therefore occupies no space and all space at the same time. It is within us, but it is just as much outside of us if we think of “us” as our physical bodies and brain-minds.

The Soul Yearned for Life

How can the soul yearn for life? Isn’t it alive already? Yes, it is, but the sentence has a deeper meaning. The soul is alive, but when we enter the physical world, it is in a dormant state that is somewhat like being in a coma. It needs to be awakened, to be activated. And once awakened, it needs to be nourished and nurtured so that it grows in strength and awareness. Also, to the soul, life means life in Heaven, not on earth. Once the soul is awakened, it years to be in Heave and not trapped on earth in the realm of matter.

Reached the First Planet

The soul reaching for Heaven does not travel to “the first planet” or any other planet. It doesn’t travel in the physical sense at all, and if it did, it would not go to the planets on its way to heaven. Heaven is a higher dimension of being and consciousness, not a physical place located somewhere in space. This talk of traveling to planets, therefore, must be taken allegorically. One way it may be used allegorically is that planets all represent our energy centers (chakras). Just as each primary energy center is associated with a color, some also associate them with certain planets in the solar system. It may also be an allegorical way of saying the soul heads towards the sun since the Spiritual Sun is a portal between Heaven and Earth, between matter and spirit.

Among Enemies

The enemies of the soul are the forces of Darkness: the Devils and Demons of matter. That want to keep the soul trapped in the material world and keep it from knowing its true nature and power, to keep it from Gnosis. They have many ways of doing this. They may whisper doubts to our minds. They may hit us with physical ailments to distract us from the spiritual. They may hit us with floods, earthquakes, hurricanes, and other disasters to get our minds back on the physical and away from the spiritual. Take such efforts as a sign that you are on the right track and continue your spiritual journey. When we give in to Darkness, we lose our immortality.

WEEKLY MESSAGE: March 2, 2022

HEAD OVERSEER’S WEEKLY MESSAGE

March 2, 2022

The Twenty-second Saying (Part 5)

“And the male Companion of The Way further asked, ‘Is a person in a state of perfect prayer open to revelation?’ The Man answered, ‘Yes, I would say so,’ and then continued. ‘Jesus preached in parables to the initiates, the neophytes, and the public. He spoke to the disciples in words they could understand because they were living The Way. Jesus taught that God the Father is the Savior, the Redeemer, and the Restorer of Mankind. He always referred to God as being the Father. He always acknowledged a higher power than himself. And when he passed away on the cross he said, “Unto thee, Father, I commend my spirit.” The spirit, having been created and reborn by God, was returned to God.

“‘Jesus taught that the body of flesh does not inherit the Kingdom of God; only the Body of Spirit does. Thus this world, with all its prayers and churches and power, is nothing because everything passes away in time. The only immortality is in the spirit, and a person should devote all one’s life to restoring that.

“‘To reiterate, according to the ancient Teachings, the Sun of Righteousness was the True Image of God. And God caused that Image to manifest, and that image was filled with His Word, and that was the First-Born of God, His First Son sent into the world.

“‘As man and woman looked upon the Sun of Righteousness after having learned to live The Way – they had to be taught how to live that Way by a Teacher, an inspired Teacher, Prophet or Holy Person of God – and were created anew in spirit, they became Images of the Image of the Sun of Righteousness. That was the true means by which a person would ascend to the Godhead, because God does not manifest in the world of the senses.

“‘There are two kinds of religion. One, the religion of the earth – the religion of the popular churches – teaches the parables of Jesus though they are misunderstood because the inner truths are not known. It is thus a religion of the senses, of the mind, of the psyche; and this religion has nothing at all to do with the spirit that is in each person. Those practicing this religion mistakenly believe that Jesus, or some other Holy Teacher, can save them, or that their rites and rituals, ceremony, liturgy, sacraments will be heard by God. Yet Jesus insisted: “You must be born again. Your spirit must be filled with the Image and the Word of God. Only then does God recognize you, and will you be able to hear the Word of God. Once you hear it and are filled with the Image, you then must live The Way. And in living The Way, you will then walk with God.”

“‘Revelation is revealed to those few Holy Ones inspired to found a new religion, or to restore an older one in progressive religious evolution until the world is redeemed. It is the object of True Religion, through its disciples, to make clear the One Teaching and the One Truth, for there is only One Teaching and One Truth, just as there is but One Way to this One Teaching and One Truth. Teachers ordained in the One Doctrine who explain the Teaching and the Truth and instruct the world in The Way must be cautious of those who have private revelations, or of those who innovate upon sacred scripture and interpret sacred things and found vain doctrines. The ordained Teachers must dissuade such individuals with courtesy and decorum, so they will not lead the goodly astray.

“‘False teachings, misrepresentations of the One Truth, often lead to complex combinations of teachings that give the illusion that there are many Truths in the world, when in fact there is but One. The disciple must be able to condemn such false ideas, not authorize or condone them when conversing with students who come to the School.

“‘Error, like Evil, leads Man astray and away from God. Truths of the mind and the material world, like truths of the psyche and the psychic world, are not Truth of Spirit. The student should be careful of which path he or she is pursuing: the earthly, the psychic, or the spiritual. The former two are not related with the latter and should be quickly dismissed, by both teacher and student, from their conversation.’”
