The Twenty-second Saying (Part 15)

“When The Man had thus spoken, a Companion of The Way said, ‘Since earth is material and we are partly material, and since we are engaged in this struggle for the Light, then through our efforts matter can be transformed into higher forms of energy which could manifest and assist us in our quest for the enlightenment of not only ourselves but of the world.’

“And The Man responded to him by giving an illustration. ‘Just as the physical, material sun is used by God to reveal Knowledge of Himself to the human race, then the bodies of humankind must also be used to teach The Way to the race. Once man and woman are put in contact with their heritage – their spirit – they become Instruments of God’s Will on earth, which is to teach the human race the Judgements and the Statutes that will be coming out in the future and to establish a whole new concept of government. Once they begin to teach, then other people will follow in growing numbers. These Teachings will create a Community of followers and then the material sun, acting upon the mind and upon the material body through the atomic structure, will begin to change the thinking habits of humankind. The material sun is used by the spiritual Sun as the spiritual Sun is used by God and His Image. Thus we see a chain of events, an inner relationship of spirit to matter.

“The Image and The Word is the sea of rebirth. It is the seminal force – the spermatikos – that creates and generates life in the spirit. The spirit gives birth to the Soul and the Soul then becomes an Instrument of God’s Image and Word. That Soul is nurtured by the Image and The Word for the Soul needs nourishment – Food. The greatest motivating force of living things in the world of nature is the need to eat for survival. The second greatest motivating force is that of procreation. More than anything else, these two great forces are the driving forces of nature. Similarly, the spirit needs to be reborn and needs to eat in order to live. And that is why there are so many religions in the world, so many religious books, and the urge for man and woman to be religious. It is within them. The spirit craves nourishment and life.’

“Then said a disciple, ‘Do you suspect that other suns in the universe having planets around them serve a purpose similar to our sun?’ The Man said, ‘The manifestation of the Sun of Righteousness is a cosmic, universal event.’ And the disciple replied, ‘Then it would affect more than one physical sun, would it not?’

“‘Yes,’ answered the Teacher. ‘However, we have here an enigma, just like the enigma in the allegorical Garden of Eden. Where did God come from? Where did the Devil come from? Why was there a power of Darkness, a Dark angel? Why did they Fall? And the problem is this: If the spirit is not reborn, it cannot see God; it cannot hear His Word. And yet, how is the spirit reborn if it cannot see the Sun of Righteousness? This is one of the most fundamental teachings, not only in this religion, but in the great world religions of antiquity that taught the Way of Light.

“‘In order to have knowledge of The Image and The Word, humankind must be instructed or told. Therefore, God sends a Messenger who proclaims the existence of The Image and The Word. That is what Jamil did. He proclaimed the existence of the Sun of Righteousness in our own era. He laid the foundation for this Church. While God is the True Founder of the Church, Jamil is the Messenger – the Proclaimer – who had been sent by God to speak to humankind. Thus, we see that we must trace our authority to more than a spiritual force, not only for the world to accept it, but in order for the awakening and the rebirth to take place. Jamil came into the world, revealed the message of the existence of The Image and The Word and prepared his disciple – his successor – by ordaining him and quickening his spirit so that it could receive The Image and The Word of God. There has to be a beginning.

“‘Members of this Church have been brought into the Church because of Jamil and because of his successor – in this case, The Man – who is able to awaken in the disciples of The Child and the members of the Church a memory of their spiritual nature and a reason for their being here. This indicates that these people are pre-ordained to be here. They are old wise souls, if I may say so, and once they contact the Church and are drawn into the presence of Jamil’s successor, they are awakened and able to see The Image and The Word. And their rebirth is instantaneous. They are nurtured by The Image and The Word, but there was a beginning – this contact – which is vital.

“‘Again, we see that the physical sun is used. A child was used. Jesus was used. A man or a woman – disciples, humans – are used as the material sun is used to reach the human race. Such are the means available to The Creator.’

“And this was the commentary on the Twenty-Second Saying.”

Again, if I may be of any personal service to you, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Very truly yours in Light+,

“The First Thought in Light”

“I am first thought, the thought that is in light. I am movement that is in all, she in whom the realm of all takes its stand, the firstborn among those who came into being, she who exists before all. She is called by three names, although she exists alone, since she is perfect. I am invisible within the thought of the invisible one. I am revealed in the immeasurable, ineffable things. I am intangible, dwelling in the intangible. I move in every creature. I am the life of my afterthought that is within every power and every eternal movement, and in invisible lights, and within the powers and angels and demons and every soul in Tartaros, and in every material soul. I live in those who came into being. I move in everyone and I enter them. I walk upright, and those who sleep I awaken. And I am the sight of those who dwell in sleep. I am the invisible one in all. I counsel those who are hidden, since I know the whole realm of all that exists in it. I am numberless beyond everyone. I am immeasurable, ineffable, yet whenever I wish, I shall reveal myself. I am the head of all. I am before all, and I am all, since I am in everyone. I am a voice speaking softly. I am from the beginning. I am in the silence that surrounds every one of them. And the hidden voice is in me, in intangible, immeasurable thought, in the immeasurable silence. I descended into the underworld and shone down on the darkness. I poured water. I am hidden in radiant waters. I gradually dawn on all by my thought. I am weighed down with the voice. Through me knowledge comes. I am in the ineffable and unknowable. I am perception and knowledge, uttering a voice by means of thought. I am the real voice. I cry out in everyone, and they recognize it, since a seed lives in them. I am the father’s thought, and through me came the voice: the knowledge of everlasting things. I am as thought for all. I am joined to unknowable and intangible thought.” ~Three Forms of First Thought

The First Thought

The First Thought is God’s Thought. We can’t really say that it is God’s first thought, but it is God’s first thought that began the true creation, the creation of spirit. It is the first thought that is significant to us. The quote from the Gnostic text known as “Three Forms of First Thought,” has God using the feminine “She” as a self-reference. This is rather unusual, but it should be noted that it is not incorrect. God is as much female as male, Mother as well as Father. The quote also says that this first thought is “the movement that is in all.” Today, of course, we all know that light moves, and moves fast, so if the first thought took the form of Light, then the first thought moves and moves fast. Yet it doesn’t seem to move so fast down here on earth. That is because the material realm that we live in is so far away from God that everything here moves much more slowly.

Intangible Dwelling in the Tangible

God is intangible but also dwells in the tangible. Even matter has spirit in it, and where there is spirit, there is God. Therefore, the First Thought that came from God is also in the intangible places of spirit as well as the tangible ones of matter.

Those who Sleep I Awaken

This doesn’t mean that First Thought awakens us from physical sleep, although it may sometimes affect our physical sleep through dreams. What it means is that those who are spiritually asleep are awakened by First Thought, which is also God’s Light. But then, why are most people still asleep, including most of those who claim to be awake? It is because a spiritual awakening rarely happens by accident. It must be sought and sought in the proper place. Seeking a spiritual awakening in dark, cave-like churches doesn’t work. Seeking an awakening by staring at the moon at night doesn’t work. It is the Sun that is the messenger of God, not the moon. It is the Light of the Spiritual Sun that awakens those who are ready to be awakened, and that means more than just those who wish to be awakened. They must want it for the right reasons, those reasons being to help people including themselves develop spiritually, and to aid God in the Divine Plan to save the world. Seeking it for selfish reasons doesn’t work.

Through Me, Knowledge Comes

Real Knowledge, the kind that the Gnostics called Gnosis, isn’t found in books or in sermons. It is found in connecting with higher levels of consciousness. As we develop and raise our own consciousness, we are able to connect with higher and higher levels until we reach the highest level where we connect with God and First Thought. Then we will have Gnosis.

2022 Nevada Prayer Breakfast Held

The Nevada Prayer Breakfast, organized by the Nevada Interfaith Association (NIA), was held Wednesday, May 18, 2022, 7-9 a.m. at the Paradise Ballroom of the Atlantis Casino Resort and Spa. The theme of this year’s Nevada Prayer Breakfast was “In Times Such as These:
Humility, Healing and Humanity.” Nearly 400 people from the Reno-Sparks community attended the event. The keynote speaker of the program was the recently installed Bishop of the Reno Catholic Diocese, Bishop Daniel H. Meuggenborg.

The International Community of Christ was one of the sponsors of the event. In attendance from the Church were Bishop Gene Savoy Jr., Rev. Mother Elizabeth Reece, Rev. Canons Robert Petrovich and Amanda Buchanan, Reverends Barbara Whitney and Shinobu Sonoda Fuelling, and Deacon Stephan Fuelling.

The purpose of the event is to gather community members of all religions to come together and offer prayerful support for state and local leaders according to their own traditions. Many of City, County, and State leaders and their representatives were there to join those in attendance as they prayed in their own way.

NIA honored with awards Northern Nevada Hometown Heroes whose vision and courage gave comfort and assistance to many in need during the last two challenging years. Those honored performed special acts of sacrifice, kindness, and compassion where lives were touched and suffering relieved, where the hungry were fed and comfort given, where the sick were ministered to and health restored.

The Nevada Prayer Breakfast is a gathering of citizens — as well as civic, business, and community leaders — who wish to pray on behalf of our State and bring the spiritual resources of the community together to bear on issues that face Nevadans. Although members of the community may believe differently in their approach to the Divine, they gather at the Nevada Prayer Breakfast as equals. Together, they devote their energies to the good of the State of Nevada. And together, they pray.

NIA is a non-profit interfaith network of religious and spiritual leaders in Nevada. Programs include the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Service, the interfaith Nevada Prayer Breakfast, the Annual Interfaith Thanksgiving Eve Service, and the biannual Interfaith Clergy Luncheon.

Bishop Gene Savoy, Jr. led the Nevada Interfaith Association (formerly the Nevada Clergy Association) as its president from 1999-2017.

“Religion, Spirituality, and Health”

Theoretical model of causal pathways to physical health for Western monotheistic religions (Christianity, Islam, and Judaism). Original source: Koenig et al.

Review Article: “Religion, Spirituality, and Health: The Research and Clinical Implications,” Harold G. Koenig, 2012. Published by International Scholarly Research Network, ISRN Psychiatry, Volume 2012, Article ID 278730, 33 pages

Summary:
This paper provides a concise but comprehensive review of research on religion/spirituality (R/S) and both mental health and physical health. It is based on a systematic review of original data-based quantitative research published in peer-reviewed journals between 1872 and 2010, including a few seminal articles published since 2010. First, I provide a brief historical background to set the stage. Then I review research on R/S and mental health, examining relationships with both positive and negative mental health outcomes, where positive outcomes include well-being, happiness, hope, optimism, and gratefulness, and negative outcomes involve depression, suicide, anxiety, psychosis, substance abuse, delinquency/crime, marital instability, and personality traits (positive and negative). I then explain how and why R/S might influence mental health. Next, I review research on R/S and health behaviors such as physical activity, cigarette smoking, diet, and sexual practices, followed by a review of relationships between R/S and heart disease, hypertension, cerebrovascular disease, Alzheimer’s disease and dementia, immune functions, endocrine functions, cancer, overall mortality, physical disability, pain, and somatic symptoms. I then present a theoretical model explaining how R/S might influence physical health. Finally, I discuss what health professionals should do in light of these research findings and make recommendations in this regard.

WEEKLY MESSAGE: May 11, 2022

HEAD OVERSEER’S WEEKLY MESSAGE

Wednesday, May 11, 2022
Birthday of The Man (1927)

Ninety-five years ago today, my father was born in Bellingham, Washington just 20 miles from the Canadian border. His life was certainly a series of expeditions, quests, and explorations in more ways than one. I always spend the day of his birth contemplating his life and this Teaching.

Today, I write to you from Baja California Sur, Mexico, where I am with our Companion of The Way, Humberto Garcia. We are not far from The Community’s property on the Gulf of California; and, after a pause of more than two years, we are solidifying plans for Humberto’s relocation from mainland Mexico to our property in El Cardonal.

I will have more information for you once we return and will also, of course, give a detailed report on our mission in Mexico and our other plans during this year’s Community Convocation. In the meantime, I leave you with this portion of the Twenty-second Saying of Jamil.

The Twenty-second Saying (Part 14)

“To these words, the same Companion queried, ‘Will there continue to be War between the Light and the Dark when the ultimate transformation occurs?’ The Man answered saying, ‘This struggle between Light and Darkness is already taking place. At the transformation of the material world into Light, the whole material universe will be transformed into Light. Matter will be “burned up” by the Light of the Spirit. There will be no Darkness. There will only be God and His Creation. All will be restored to Light, and perhaps with the knowledge that each Soul has within it, there will never be the need or desire to separate from God again.

“‘The Image and The Word is a seed that is implanted in the spirit of man and woman, and that seed grows into a Soul – creates a Soul – and out of the Soul comes Community, and out of the Community comes Nation, and out of the Nation come Nations, and out of the Nations comes one People, and out of the one People comes the Union of God and Man, or God and humanness, or God and spirit. Once this unity is achieved, all the illusion of matter will disappear and be no more, because there will be no reason for it to exist. It is only separation from God that creates the false illusion.’”

Again, if I may be of any personal service to you, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Very truly yours in Light+,

Gene

The One Above All

“I asked if I might understand this, and it said to me, The One is a sovereign that has nothing over it. It is god and father of all, the invisible one that is over all, that is incorruptible, that is pure light at which no eye can gaze. The One is the invisible spirit. …  It does not exist within anything inferior to it, since everything exists within it alone. It is eternal, since it does not need anything. For it is absolutely complete. It has never lacked anything in order to be completed by it. Rather, it is always absolutely complete in light. The One is illimitable, since there is nothing before it to limit it, unfathomable, since there is nothing before it to fathom it, immeasurable, since there was nothing before it to measure it, invisible, since nothing has seen it, eternal, since it exists eternally, unutterable, since nothing could comprehend it to utter it, unnamable, since there is nothing before it to give it a name. The One is the immeasurable light, pure, holy, immaculate. …  It is impossible to say, “How much is it? What kind is it?” For no one can understand it. The One is not among the things that exist, but it is much greater. It is not a part of the eternal realms or of time. For whatever is part of a realm was once prepared by another. … Such a one beholds itself in its light. The One is majestic and has an immeasurable purity. The One is a realm that gives a realm, life that gives life, a blessed one that gives blessedness, knowledge that gives knowledge, a good one that gives goodness, mercy that gives mercy and redemption, grace that gives grace. Not as if the One possesses all this. Rather, it is that the One gives immeasurable and incomprehensible light. What shall I tell you about it? Its eternal realm is incorruptible, at peace, dwelling in silence, at rest, before everything. It is the head of all realms, and it sustains them through its goodness. We would not know what is ineffable, we would not understand what is immeasurable, were it not for what has come from the father. “~The Secret Book of John

Nothing Over It

I sometimes see questions on Facebook spiritual groups like, “Who created God?” and “What existed before God?” If you understood the real God, the God of spirit that John is calling “The One,” you wouldn’t ask such questions. As John correctly states, The One is God of all with noting above or before him. His[1] existence is not dependent on any other being, any time, any space, any thing. If it was, He wouldn’t truly be The One God.

Everything Exists within It

This is true, though it can be misleading. Everything is part of the Godhead, but not everything is part of God as a being. When speaking of the spiritual, such things can get complicated. So how can God have evil things and evil beings within Him? In the same way that you can have a disease within you, yet you did not create the disease, nor is the disease a part of you. The disease is an invader in your body, and evil is an invader in the body of God.

Does not Need Anything

“I’m sure that a lot of us question, when reading the bible or other scripture, why God would want sacrifices of animals, burned fruit, or even humans. The answer is that The One, the True God, does not. It is the false god, the Demiurge who created the fallen realm of matter who desired such sacrifices. The only thing The One wants us to sacrifice is the misuse of free will to do things that are against His plan for redemption.

Not Part of Time or Space

The One is not part of time, but is over time, beyond time. Questions like “What existed before God?” make no sense because it implied that God is subordinate to time, which He isn’t. Likewise, God is not restricted in any way by space and exists both within and without space. He is everywhere and nowhere because the whole concept of space is outside of The One. Space and time are restrictions and God has no restrictions. But just as we might choose to avoid places full of disease, death, or other dangers, God limits His presence in places that are not truly part of His realm, though they are derived from it, namely, the realm of matter.

Immeasurable and Incomprehensible Light

We often hear of God and light being connected, but most people think of this as being physical light. It is for that reason that many have been tricked by Satan and demons into believing that they are seeing angels or other heavenly beings. The demons and devils can shine with physical light, but only God, His Angels, and advanced spiritual people give off Spiritual Light. It is the Spiritual Light that John says is immeasurable and incomprehensible. That Spiritual Light flows to us primarily from the Spiritual Sun, so the best way to receive that Light is to turn to the Sun.

[1]    I am using “His” out of convention, but God is just as much female as male, God is beyond such distinctions.

Cosolargy.org Expanded

The Community’s web site Cosolargy.org has been expanded recently.

The web site has been slightly reconfigured and two new pages have been added. One is a page addressing the controversial issue of climate change. The other is a shopping page that offers the first three of a series of eBooks.

One is Living the Life of Light, a translation with commentary on the Odes of Solomon by Robert Petrovich. The other books to be offered are by Gene Savoy Sr.

The primer texts previously offered to the public in print format are now available again to the public in the less expensive and more easily distributed eBook format. The first two primer books to be offered are Project X: The Search for the Secrets of Immortality and the Scholar’s Edition of the Decoded New Testament. Soon to appear on the pages as well are the Millennium Editions of the Decoded New Testament, The Lost Gospel of Jesus, and The Essaei Document.

Two books on Gene Savoy’s explorations – On the Trail of the Feathered Serpent and Antisuyo – will be the final two eBooks offered on the web site in this first series of electronic publications. Antisuyo, a recognized classic among books on exploration, has been out of print and a rare book for decades. The electronic publication will help to make Gene Savoy’s early findings in Peru more easily accessible to the public.

Also planned for the future, perhaps as early as this year, are the book Jamil: Child of Light and a fresh  companion volume to this text.
